Eric looks back over his life and stands in amazement at the direction it has taken since he turned his back on his rebellious sinful behavior and began to truly follow Jesus. He traded hopelessness and despair for a life of peace with God and reason to live.
When God disrupted Eric's plan to end his life, Eric knew it was time to acknowledge God's claim on him. A demonstration of humble service by a follower of Jesus got Eric thinking again. Then the influence of a concerned friend helped him see that he needed to follow Jesus without reservation.
Eric has fond memories of his childhood on the reserve. He heard about Jesus, and felt a desire to accept His gift of salvation, but had no one to walk with on that path. Instead, by the age of 16, he was into partying, and judged his life to be worthless. On a cold, dark night, he decided to end his life. But then something very strange happened on his way to the tower.

Shortly after a rally in the Port of Vancouver, in support of SCFP (CUPE) 5317, Dan and ILWU President Rob Ashton talk with Eric Sinclair of CUPE 5317 and Alain Desrochers of CUPE 375. The discussion and rally, attended by Multiple ILWU from Canada and the states, CUPE, and included solidarity messages from the MUA in Australia, were centred around Viterra, a grain company that has locked out 51 workers in the port of Montreal, and their disregard for the rights of working people.
Neurologist Jules Montague talks to Gillian Russell about the personal story which led her to write her book Lost And Found. From dementia to brain injury, from personality disorders to coma, Jules explores memory, identity and who we become when our minds misbehave. Are you still the same person when something changes in your brain? Eric Sinclair, who had a stroke a few years ago, talks about how it affected his personality and identity ... and explains why he thinks it's important for us to consider these changes as much as the physical ones. Wendy Mitchell, who has dementia, describes how and why she's adopted a positive approach to the changes she's encountering with her memory and identity.
Waking in his hotel room Eric Sinclair was paralysed down his left side, his mouth dry and his tongue heavy. He called for help, but all he could do was make a small squeaking sound. He knew very little about stroke until that day, but he was one of the 15,000 people a year who suffer a stroke. Stroke is the third commonest cause of death in Scotland and the most common cause of severe physical disability among adults. Of 100 people going into hospital alive, over a quarter won't survive the first year. Of those who do, many will be permanently disabled. Stroke doesn't just affect the elderly, it is unpredictable and can affect all ages. So what is it like to actually experience a stroke? What is happening inside the brain and body of a stroke patient as this attack on the brain unfolds and where has science got to in terms of explaining stroke, its prevention and the long path to recovery?
