The WV-based company releases its new color for 2025…West Virginia University debuts a program to help students with tuition and fees…and a restaurant opening in Fairlea serves up feel-good food…on today's daily304.   #1 – From WOWK-TV – West Virginia-based company Fiesta Dinnerware has announced its new color for 2025.  The cream-colored Linen is meant to celebrate the craft of pottery. Company officials describe it as contemporary, elegant and versatile.  Limited items in Linen are now available to purchase from Fiesta's Factory Direct website . Last year, the limited items for the 2024 color, Sky, sold out quickly, so those interested in purchasing limited items for 2025 should act fast. The rest of the Linen collection will be available starting April 28. The company, now known as the Fiesta Tableware Company, has operated in West Virginia since 1907, following trends of color and introducing new styles of the collectible dishes each year. The WVU Guarantee program will be open for resident undergraduate students within the university's system who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a family-adjusted gross income of $65,000 or less. University officials said the program will combine with other financial aid to break down barriers for higher education. Students who complete the FAFSA by Aug. 1 will be evaluated for eligibility. Coco's will be the place you can eat after a good workout and go home feeling good, according to owner Abby Bashlor. She says everything will be made in house or bought locally. Named in honor of her miniature schnauzer, Coco's will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner five days a week. Breakfast items will include burritos, egg bakes, sandwiches, quiches, and muffins. Lunch and dinner items will include sandwiches, soups, specials, and baked goods. Plus, a smoothie station will include fresh fruits and add-ons such as protein and collagen.  Coco's is located inside Nova Jiu Jitsu, a growing athletic academy for kids and adults in the Greenbrier Valley. Welcome to Part 3 of the Homes Not Prisons radio series.Homes Not Prisons is a campaign established in March 2021 to stop the expansion of the maximum-security women's prison in Melbourne's western suburbs, the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), and divert the funding in public housing and Aboriginal community controlled housing. This episode features a radio documentary about the historic ‘Wring Out Fairlea' protests that took place outside the old Fairlea women's prison in Yarra Bend Park in 1988, 1992, 1993 and 1996. Fairlea closed in 1996 to make way for a new private prison for women, which would later be renamed DPFC when it was taken into state control in 2000. This episodes highlights the continuities between campaigns waged against the injustices of incarceration in Naarm (Melbourne) three decades ago, to the campaign being waged now, by Homes Not Prisons. Marisa interviewed Aunty joanne and her neice Coutney, founders of Grandmothers against forced Removals in South Australia. Via conference Call, These strong Aboriginal leaders and warriors spoke about The Bringing them Home Report, Aboriginal child removal, Stolen Generation, and solutions to the overhauling of the Child protection system. A historical persperctive of Stolen Generation was given.Next, Marisa spoke with Maud Clark from the Theatre company "Somebody's Daughter", which started operating from Fairlea womens' prison in 1980 Maud spoke about peer support, and creative arts for women in prison and some men. She also highlighted a video created by women in prison called "No more hiding in silence". which talks about domestic violence and abuse. Marisa spoke also to Lucy Honan from Teachers for Refugees about an event coming up on  Saturday, 10 August. Lucy urged listeners to join Teachers for Refugees at this event, entitled: Untold Storytime: Reading for Refugee Rights at MITA detention Centre,for an "untold storytime" protest at the front of MITA detention centre, 120 Camp Rd, Broadmeadows. She spoke about highlighting virations of human rights, by organising true story readings by refugees.
