On the flip side, we reluctantly submerge our collective self back into the muck and shit of Roardom ... We also speculate that tearing his achilles and missing the rest of the season (and possibly the rest of his career) may be the best thing that's happened to Poor Jeff in a while ... We express mild concern at the Roar's 4th quarter comeback, leavened by the probability that the 49s had stopped trying sometime near the middle of the 3rd quarter ... Weeks ago, after being off air during these recent months, your beloved sports voices linked once again to deliver the 23rd cut from P.T.P. for your streaming pleasure! In a guest hosting role, close friend and tremendous ally, Vijay G. joins us to comment on which NFL narratives can take place this year as pro football starts to gear up then our good bro Money Mal also spins the block to give his valued opinions on his own football picks too! Specific heroes hold great reverence to GMar as he champions coaches/mentors such as his grandma and former instructor, Chadwick Boseman who both passed recently, ( 0:00) Educating black & brown teens grappling with developing under a nation where laws and a pandemic threaten their ability to become potential leaders of this land reveals paths for leaders like V.J. to detail different parallels in which sports transformed his life in a positive light at early age in N.Y.C. to connect with youth today, (8:48) A handful of pro football teams here in America in this nation are having matches with far fewer fans in person so a couple of gentlemen examine such a decision and plausible problems resulting in that approach, (14:25) Terms like "The America's Team" has eroded and there are factors that brings on that conclusion, (19:30) Various black QB's start to see their own greatness validated by opportunities to further their playing careers and while more doors need to open for these unbelievable performers, former signal caller Kaep not placed on a roster to showcase his craft on a premier level draws side eyes amongst people of color, (24:07) As this country approaches autumn and winter with mostly empty stands, a broader scope was set forth to seek out National Football League contenders and pretenders in both conferences beginning in each division. (44:16) There will be more playoff spots available once this 2020 football campaign ends so chatter on probable postseason participants begins to narrow down sensible pairings left standing during Super Bowl weekend combined with good, bad, and ugly precedents currently in other sports action before VJ has to sleep on the couch with his wife making the call because he kept having fun recording so late, joking of course, (1:56:06) Hop in a time machine with Mal with hopes of finding where a couple of heads were amidst hotly contested series that the bubble staged to see if those takes held true or not, (2:24:37) More shenanigans ensue along with added gridiron talk followed up by a discussion centered around big names that have a chance to either catapult or cripple their teammates on a weekly basis, (2:40:02) Place bets on conference championship games scheduled for January that should feature all familiar gunslingers facing off according to selections from your lovable members of this publication surrounded by strong angles essential in preparing fans for huge WNBA & MLB postseason clashes, (2:53:32)

Auspol Snackpod: Australian Politics and Memes

This episode contains a recording of an Indigenous woman who has passed away. If you don’t want to hear that, please skip from 26:56 to 27:52.It’s our fiftieth episode! To celebrate, we’re drinking some extremely depressing Mining Mimosas, as we look at some of the ways that mining companies destroy the lives, heritage, and legal status of First Nations people by, for example, blowing up 46 000 year old rock shelters. We also have some really top notch memes from two noted memelords, updates on some long-running legal battles, a far too adorable potluck from some of our sweetest listeners, and a whole bunch more. Support the show: www.patreon.com/AuspolSnackpodRead the IndigenousX piece by Natalie Cromb: https://indigenousx.com.au/land-rights-sand-castle-in-a-wind-storm/Read the NITV article by Grandmothers Against Removals: https://www.sbs.com.au/nitv/feature/women-fighting-against-rising-tide-indigenous-child-removalsSupport their organisation: https://www.facebook.com/GMAR.GrandmothersAgainstRemovals/

EROC provides assistance and support to higher education students who have been sexually assaulted or harassed. We discuss the systemic issues behind the recent award of an Order of Australian to men’s rights activist Bettina Arndt, the widespread nature of victim blaming and the crucial importance of believing survivors.  Following Invasion Day 2020 and renewed calls for all settlers to Pay the Rent, we listen to part of an interview with Aunty Hazel Collins, one of the founders of Grandmother's Against Removals. GMAR is one of the organisations that Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance have suggested settlers make monthly rent payments to.  The interview was conducted in 2018 by Teaghan Hughes for the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association  We speak with writer and performer Laniyuk about the launch of the First Nations Issue of Archer magazine on Saturday at Testing Grounds. Laniyuk discusses her article on queer kinship and the power of being featured on the cover of the magazine.  We speak with Sasja Sydek and Rebeckah Loveday from Trans Sisters United, a Melbourne based community group that creates projects that benefit the transgender community through advocacy, awareness and community collaboration. The group is traveling to the Tiwi Islands next week and they join us on the show to tell us more about this project. You can support this trip through a GoFundMe here.House of Dévine, Melbourne’s first vogue house, joins us in the studio to discuss vouging/ballroom, claiming public space and creating queer and trans family. In this week's episode of Wise Women Conversations I chat with Faith Agugu who is the creator of a fantastic event for mid-life women called Silver Sirens. Faith invited me along to her last event and it was fantastic to see such a great line up of women who are in mid-life sharing their stories and wisdom.Faith has a special interest in the mental health in African and Australian aboriginal communities and in this conversation we also touch on a very important topic and Faith shares how she got involved with an organisation called GMAR (Grandmothers Against Removals). The removal of children from aboriginal families and communities is something that needs to be changed. Even if it is deemed that it is unsafe for a child to stay with their family, the first option should be to find someone else in the community to look after this child and this is not happening. As a racial wellness coach this topic is very close to Faith's heart.Have a listen to this conversation and learn more about Faith and Aunty Hazel. If you wish to learn about the work that faith does visit her website www.thehealingprocess.com.au and to find out more about GMAR visit them on facebook @GMAR.Grandmothersagainstremovals

Invasion Day, commonly known as Australia Day in this country is a time for mourning, a time for struggle. On this show we will be looking at the intergenerational trauma created by a system and a culture which will not recognise sovereignty, that is rather intent on genocide. In this episode we hear from Lidia Thorpe representing  Grandmothers Against Removal in Victoria. Lidia speaks to us about forced removals which see Aboriginal children removed from their families, community and culture. We will discuss the power of GMAR's, the devestation these removals cause to families and communities, and the relationship between colonisation, the celebration of invasion and forced removals.More information about volunteering with GMAR will be available shortly. For now you can connect with them through the Facebook page.https://www.facebook.com/GMAR.GrandmothersAgainstRemovals/

December 10 is Human Rights Day, and this week on Women on the Line we look at a human rights issue that is very close to home: the rising number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out of home care in Australia, and what this means for these young people, their families and communities.Recent changes to legislation made by the state government in NSW will have serious consequences for First Nations communities, and in light of this we’ll hear from Dana Clarke, AbSec Chair and CEO of Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation, Aunty Hazel Collins, founder of Grandmothers Against Removals, and Muriel Bamblett, CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency and recently appointed chair of the Secretariat of National Aboriginal Islander Child Care.Sign the petition to stop the NSW Government from removing another generation of Aboriginal children from their community and culture here: http://absec.good.do/sign/https://www.absec.org.au/https://www.facebook.com/GMAR.GrandmothersAgainstRemovals/https://www.vacca.org/https://www.snaicc.org.au/
