15th episode of the second season of ''The X-Files''
POPULARITY
Jason isn't feeling himself in this episode due to being sick so he and Brenda rather quickly go through the next two episodes of The X-Files, one featuring voodoo and the other featuring alien clones and a bounty hunter. Also, Brenda does her world famous (?) Bupdate.

Jess and Dini travel back to February 3, 1995! We recap Season 2 - Episode 15, Fresh Bones. Strange behaviour, suicide, racism, and torture. Much like Chester Bonapart's french fries, we wish this episode would disappear.Mulder and Scully investigate the mysterious deaths of two Marines stationed at a refugee camp in North Carolina. While the military has ruled them both as suicides, Mulder suspects voodoo is to blame after he discovers the same ritual symbols were found in both of the scenes. This episode was written by Howard Gordon and directed by Rob Bowman. Do you have any X-Files related theories, stories, key points or podcast feedback? Chester's fries have vanished but that's not the only magic we get this episode. Apology: Late in the episode Kristen says "regular religion" which she 100% apologizes for and acknowledges as an ignorant thing to say. She won't make this a non-apology by explaining it away and is sorry to have said it and failed to catch it in the moment. Show Notes: USO.org article by Danielle DeSimone Military Suicide Rates Are at an All-Time High; Here's How We're Trying to Help Veve - Wikipedia The Pharmacology of Zombies by Wade Davis (Paywall :( ) Produced by Kristen Riley and Daive Reed Follow on Twitter @CastFiles Email us at TheeCastFiles@gmail.com https://www.teepublic.com/user/the-cast-files Music by Hal Six Logo by @OokaArt ---- After several murders occur within a Haitian refugee camp, Mulder and Scully are caught in the middle of a secret battle involving a Voodoo priest and the camp commander. TRIGGER WARNING: SUICIDE In Folkstone, North Carolina, we open on the happiest of homes. Jack is vomiting in the bathroom, his wife is scared of him, and the baby is crying. He just wants to eat his breakfast in peace! But the mealworms didn't get the message. Jack McAlpin, an agitated Marine Corps private, drives his car into a tree after several hallucinatory episodes and is apparently killed. On the tree is a veve, a drawn voodoo religious symbol. Wikipedia: A veve is a religious symbol commonly used in different branches of Vodun throughout the African diaspora, such as Haitian Vodou. Veves should not be confused with the patipembas used in Palo, nor the pontos riscados used in Umbanda and Quimbanda since these are separate African religions. McAlpin is the second purported suicide among troops stationed at an INS compound processing refugees from Haiti. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully visit the compound to investigate McAlpin's death.
This week we are dodging curses while we discuss “Fresh Bones”! We're talking how questionable 'Marines, Family, Football' is as a motto, how everyone in this episode is freezing to death, Mulder and Mr. X's steamy car makeout sesh, and Dax Shepard, the Victorian orphan boy who also happens to be an American gravedigger. We blow the conch and unite the crew, scream when a whole-ass man comes out of Scully's hand, and marvel as Mulder, a nine-and-a-half foot tall man successfully sneaks up on someone. And if you're wondering, yes of course we talk about David Boreanaz for some reason. We can't help ourselves.Send us an email at scullynationpod@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter and Instagram!
Scully and Mulder investigate the death of a Marine working at a Haitian refugee camp. He drove his car into a tree and his death has been ruled a suicide but the man's wife simply doesn't believe he would have done that. Their investigation unearths rumors that the camp commander, Colonel Wharton, may be systematically abusing some of the detainees. There are also rumors of voodoo and curses but neither agent is prepared when someone completely unexpected suddenly appears. They get help from a young lad in the camp, Chester Bonaparte, but there are secrets in the camp that they may never solve. Mr. X warns Mulder that the military may be behind it all. Zombies? After two marines working an immigration detention center purportedly kill themselves, the wife of one them calls Mulder and Scully in to help prove it wasn't a suicide. There's a strange symbol at the scene of his death, which appears to have ties to voodoo. Most refugees at the camp are Haitian and one of them is rumored to have powerful magic… “Hey, Scully, wanna see me pull a rabbit out of my hat?” “Again...?” Links: Black Cat Studios' #blackkittybros @blackkittybros on Instagram @blackkittybros on Twitter (not as active as Instagram) She's Tori @toricentanni on Instagram References: X Marks the Spot: On Location with The X-Files by Louisa Gradnitzer & Todd Pittson The Complete X-Files: Revised and Updated Edition by Matt Hurwitz & Chris Knowles The Truth is Out There: The Official Guide to The X-Files by Brian Lowry Music: “Dark Science” by David Hilowitz “The Truth Is What We Make of It” by The Agrarians You can find links to all our episodes, ways to subscribe, social media, and more here! https://linktr.ee/iwtrw --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
"Fresh Bones" deals with instances of voodoo magic at a Haitian refugee camp, but Mulder and Scully don't do much. Lia and Alanna admit to casting spells with questionable intentions.
Deep Throat, Miracle Man, Fresh Bones… the truth is out there. Trust no-one?
It's voodoo time on The X-Files! Daniel and I sit down to talk about this cool, creepy episode which features some startling imagery and the baby-faced character actor from forgotten 90s procedural drama Murder One. It's come up in conversation before but it really does seem like The X-Files is two shows in one. There is the paranoid alien conspiracy serial on the one hand; and the horror anthology on the other. This is ultimately a good example of the latter. It's a fun talk. Dig in. Are a bunch of refugees enacting voodoo curses on the soldiers detaining them? Is this episode scary relevant even though it was made in 1995? The answer to both these questions is "yes"!
