Israel has launched an unprecedented airstrike in Doha, Qatar, targeting Hamas leaders gathered to discuss a US-brokered ceasefire proposal. While several lower-ranking Hamas members were killed, Hamas insists its top leadership survived. The move has drawn sharp international condemnation, with Qatar calling it a grave breach of sovereignty, the UN warning of dangerous escalation, and Gulf partners questioning U.S. reliability. Central to the fallout is whether the US had prior knowledge and whether Israel’s actions represent a strategic miscalculation or a deliberate gamble. On The Big Story, Hongbin Jeong speaks to Prof Shahram Akbarzadeh, Director, Middle East Studies Forum, Deakin University, to find out more. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Ghost dives deep into Trump's latest moves against cartels in Venezuela, breaking down the U.S. military strike on a drug boat, executive orders labeling cartels as terrorist organizations, and the constitutional debate over presidential authority. He highlights Venezuela's response, with Maduro deploying 25,000 troops to prove Caracas can tackle cartels on its own terms, signaling its place in the Sovereign Alliance. Using maps and detailed analysis, Ghost tracks trafficking routes, cartel influence, and the geopolitical stakes along Venezuela's borders with Colombia and Guyana. The episode then pivots to Nepal's deadly Gen Z protests over social media bans, probing whether they're organic or CIA-backed regime change ops. Wrapping up, Ghost unpacks Israel's unilateral strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar, Trump's sharp rebuke to Netanyahu, and the fallout for ceasefire talks and the Abraham Accords. With humor, maps, and sharp narrative analysis, this episode ties together cartel warfare, sovereign movements, and Middle East volatility.

Morgan Wade stands alone in her ability to dissect and examine human emotion through her visceral songwriting. Her 2024 album, Obsessed, was a solo-written opus, which No Depression declared, “She's without a doubt one of the finest singers in country and Americana music today, and this album is her best yet.” Now, Wade readies The Party is Over (recovered), a collection of songs old and new that continues the intense exploration of her psyche's recesses that she again wrote solo. As ever, the results are thrilling. Out now, The Party Is Over (recovered) connects Wade's past and present, showing she hasn't lost an ounce of her dedication to shining a light into the dark places where the truth hides out. Since debuting in 2021 with Reckless, Wade has found herself gaining considerable attention and admiration amongst her country and roots music peers as well as musicians in the rock and pop world. She's toured with everyone from Eric Church and Chris Stapleton to Alanis Morissette, Joan Jett and, most recently, Shinedown. Once of the most noteworthy and celebrated artists of her time, Wade has been spotlighted by The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, Forbes, Garden & Gun, People, Tennessean, Variety, and many more. Today on the show we discuss: Morgan's powerful sobriety journey, how she's learned to manage other addictive patterns, how she stays sober while touring, why fitness and discipline are cornerstones of her recovery, how sobriety has made her a stronger musician, what it was like touring with Alanis Morissette and Joan Jett, how she handles the comparison trap and much more. ⚠ WELLNESS DISCLAIMER ⚠ Please be advised; the topics related to health and mental health in my content are for informational, discussion, and entertainment purposes only. Happy Friday, everyone! While preparing to head into an extended Labor Day weekend here in the U.S., I wasn't originally planning to record an episode. However, something's been building that I couldn't ignore. So, this week's update is a bit different. Shorter. Less news. But arguably more important.Think of this one as a public service announcement, because I've been noticing an alarming trend both in the headlines and in private conversations. People are starting to make life-altering decisions because of AI fear. And unfortunately, much of that fear is being fueled by truly awful advice from high-level tech leaders. So in this abbreviated episode, I break down two growing trends that I believe are putting people at real risk. It's not because of AI itself, but because of how people are reacting to it.With that, let's get into it.⸻The Dangerous Rise of AI Panic DecisionsSome are dropping out of grad school. Others are cashing out their retirement accounts. And many more are quietly rearranging their lives because they believe the AI end times are near. In this first segment, I start by breaking down the realities of the situation then focusing on some real stories. My goal is to share why these reactions, though in some ways grounded in reality and emotionally understandable, can lead to long-term regret. Fear may be loud, but it's a terrible strategy.⸻Terrible Advice from the Top: Why Degrees Still Matter (Sometimes)A Google GenAI executive recently went on record saying young people shouldn't even bother getting law or medical degrees. And, he's not alone. There's a rising wave of tech voices calling for people to abandon traditional career paths altogether. I unpack why this advice is not only reckless, but dangerously out of touch with how work (and systems) actually operate today. Like many things, there are glimmers of truth blown way out of proportion. The goal here isn't to defend degrees but explain why discernment is more important than ever.⸻If this episode was helpful, would you share it with someone? Leave a rating, drop a comment with your thoughts, and follow for future updates that go beyond the headlines and help you lead with clarity in the AI age. And, if you'd take me out for a coffee to say thanks, you can do that here:
Nvidia smashes earnings with US$26 billion in revenue, but markets still sell the stock — what does that tell us about investor nerves around AI? Hosted by Michelle Martin, this episode dives into Washington’s extraordinary 10% equity stake in Intel, what it signals for the future of strategic industries, and how subsidies and politics are reshaping valuations. We also explore the global chip war — from U.S. subsidies to China’s AI push and Japan’s resurgence — and what it means for investors in Nvidia, AMD, Intel, and TSMC. Then, we turn to consumer psychology, as Pop Mart’s Labubu blind box mania grips China even amid regulatory warnings. Are blind boxes a fad, a bubble, or a deep cultural trend? Guest Swapnil Mishra, author of Investing for the Clueless, Reckless and Overly Cautious, joins with sharp insights for investors navigating tech, politics, and pop culture. In James 3, James writes to the power that the tongue possesses by highlighting that it is disporportionate in strength to its size, that we are helpless to tame it on our own, and that it reveals our heart. Pastor Zach encourages in this sermon that we would choose to change and let Jesus work on our life because thats when we can truly live set apart in this area.
In this episode, seniors Spencer Lee, Judson Estes, and Tate Ford break down how important it is that we are submitting the words we speak to the Lord. Together, the three dive into what the Bible says about the dangers of the tongue, as well as how this plays out in our world as high school students.
Today we'll be talking about the criminal charges being levied against the reckless British driver whose driving ended in tragedy for a mother of two, an update on Pheu Thai leadership as rumors swirl, and a little later we'll dive into the ongoing problem of cross boarder crime in the form of both call centers and a new smuggling phenomenon: Durian Meth.

"My name is Idiot." She's only four years old, but when police in Hot Springs, Arkansas responded to a report of child abuse, that's what she told them. The marks of abuse were all over her body. There were bruises everywhere, she had a black eye, she had scars on her back. Those will heal. But what about the names she's been called? So many times that she actually thinks "Idiot" is her name. But wait a minute! What about the names we've called people? Even people - maybe especially people - that we love. How many people we know carry invisible, but indelible scars from our own devastating words? It's not that we necessarily mean to hurt. We're just angry, or frustrated, or feeling unheard or ignored. As our emotions escalate, so do our words. And words are like bullets. Once they're fired, you just can't get them back. As the Bible says, "Reckless words pierce like a sword" (Proverbs 12:18). We all know that's true. We still feel the sting of the names we were called a long time ago, right? Even though the one who fired them at us has probably totally forgotten it. It's our children who are most damaged by our hurtful words, because children tend to become what we call them. Label them as "lazy" or "stupid" or "worthless" enough times, and it will stick. But then, so will "princess" or "smart" or "helper" or "fun." Of course, kids also store what they hear their parents call each other in those heated moments; giving them tacit permission to speak disrespectfully in their relationships, too. But family's not the only place our words leave wounds. Proverbs 18:21 says, "The tongue has the power of life and death" at school, at work, online, in all our close relationships. If people bled physically every time we wounded them verbally, I wonder what a trail we'd leave. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Labeled for Life." God puts it this way, "The tongue is a world of evil…it sets the whole course of life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell" (James 3:6). Personally, that's one reason I know I need a personal Savior. I've found only one person strong enough to control that fire in me, and that is my death-crushing Jesus. He's that strong. King David was wise enough to know that we can't conquer this verbal monster without some supernatural intervention. Thus, his prayer should probably be somewhere that I can see it every day - maybe where you see it too. It's our word for today from the Word of God in Psalm 141:3 - "Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips." I'm thankful for the lasting imprint of something my wife told me years ago - and many times since: "Ron, don't ever forget the power of your words." I suspect a lot of us need that same reminder, huh? Because long after we've forgotten our "reckless words," the person we wounded may be carrying a long and lasting scar from them. What about all those names and putdowns that we ourselves carry from the scarring words of others? Well, I'm grateful that God has called me names, too: "God's workmanship" (Ephesians 2:10). Created "in His own image" (Genesis 1:27). God says, "My treasured possession" (Exodus 19:5). He calls us "The temple of the living God" (2 Corinthians 6:16). And then, "My sons and daughters" (2 Corinthians 6:18). And He says we are purchased by the blood of His Son (Revelation 5:9). If you've been beat down and you have thought you were worthless, you've got to take a trip up a hill called Golgotha (Skull Hill) and stand there at the foot of a cross where Jesus said you're worth dying for; for your sins so you could be with Him forever. Maybe you've never had that wonderful infusion of value and love that comes when you open your life to Jesus and you'd like to do that. Well take care of that right now. Tell Him, "Jesus, I am yours. Nobody loves me like you do." And if you'd like to know more about beginning this relationship, that's why our website's there. It's ANewStory.com. You know those people who've called you all those other things? They really didn't know who you are, who God says you are. So no one's name is "idiot." Not when God says, "You're my masterpiece."
