Autre galette toute chaude, celle de nos amis anglais FEARFUL SYMMETRY, intitulée "I've Started, So I'll Finish...", sorti ce 5 septembre.

Still bummed that Kraven the Hunter's solo film career failed to launch? We ease the pain with a look at the celebrated 1987 storyline by J.M. DeMatties and Mike Zeck that made the character's reputation in the first place. “Fearful Symmetry” (later known as “Kraven's Last Hunt”) is an unusually dark and generally atypical adventure for Aunt May's favorite nephew, but it speaks to the central appeal of the hero and remains one of the most celebrated Spider-Man stories of all time. We'll look at the genesis of this story as a Wonder Man pitch, DeMatties' love of Russian literature and interest in making Peter Parker's recent marriage add some emotional heft to the proceedings, and Zeck's moody and cinematic storytelling. Three weeks after the fall of the Bashar Assad dictatorship, the only fighting in Syria remains between Arab and Kurdish militias—holding grim potential for destabilization of the democratic revolution. Kurds had been persecuted and even denied citizenship under the Assad regime, but the invasion of their autonomous territory of Rojava by the Turkish-backed rebels of the Syrian National Army (SNA) drove them into a paradoxical tactical alliance with the dictatorship. The tragic situation in Burma's Rakhine state mirrors this disturbing reality. The Muslim Rohingya people had been persecuted, denied citizenship and finally targeted in a campaign of genocide by the military, but are now facing attacks by the Buddhist-supremacist rebels of the Arakan Army—driving some Rohingya into a paradoxical tactical alliance with the military junta. In Episode 258 of the CounterVortex podcast, Bill Weinberg offers this comparison in the hope that the peoples of Burma can unite across religious lines to defeat the junta, and that Syrians can find a way toward co-existence in the new revolutionary order and avoid ethnic war. Welcome to another engaging episode of the Breaking Math Podcast! Today's episode, titled "What is the Use?," features a fascinating conversation with the renowned mathematician and author, Professor Ian Stewart. As Professor Stewart discusses his latest book "What's the Use? How Mathematics Shapes Everyday Life," we dive deep into the real-world applications of mathematics that often go unnoticed in our daily technologies, like smartphones, and their unpredictable implications in various fields. We'll explore the history of quaternions, invented by William Rowan Hamilton, which now play a critical role in computer graphics, gaming, and particle physics. Professor Stewart will also shed light on the non-commutative nature of quaternions, mirroring the complexities of spatial rotations, and how these mathematical principles find their correspondence in the natural world.Furthermore, our discussion will encompass the interconnectivity within mathematics, touching upon how algebra, geometry, and trigonometry converge to paint a broader picture of this unified field. We also discuss the intriguing concept of "Fearful Symmetry" and how symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns govern everything from tiger stripes to sand dunes. With references to his other works, including "Professor Stewart's Cabinet of Mathematical Curiosities" and "The Science of Discworld," Professor Stewart brings an element of surprise and entertainment to the profound impact of mathematics on our understanding of the world. So stay tuned as we unlock the mysteries and the omnipresent nature of math in this thought-provoking episode with Professor Ian Stewart!

Stas Beskin is known for soloing big bold climbs, such as Rainbow Serpent and Fearful Symmetry, two of the most iconic WI6s in the Canadian Rockies. It's one thing to solo big flows, it's another to do it on freestanding pillars about as wide as your shoulders. But he does that too. And he does so without swinging his tools.Stas' conception of ice climbing revolves around displacing as little ice as possible. It's an adaptive strategy that means different things in different situations, but it's always about fitting one's body and style to the ice in front of you – it's about being attuned to the environment and trying to fit it, not the other way around... Resources and links:Stas is a rock and ice climbing guide, specializing in multi-pitches. One of the great ironies of today's "Golden Age" of podcasts is that it's hard to find work that stands out and has creative ambitions. Fearful Symmetry--a mix of surreal monologues, conversations, and ephemera from Bob Paris--is definitely an exception. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.https://fearfulsymmetry.org/about/MUSIC!https://soundcloud.com/pipe-choir-three/prayingspacehttps://soundcloud.com/gumbelgrumblehttps://soundcloud.com/pipe-choir-three/the-whisperhttps://freemusicarchive.org/music/Damiano_Baldoni/Old_Beat/Gothic_trip_with_thunderhorseSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
