The plan was for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman to spend around six months in the UK for the filming of Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. Kubrick had been mulling the film for decades, and considering a couple of other projects, too. But the shoot of Eyes Wide Shut would ultimately be his final film - and it's end up in the Guinness Book of Records. For Ben Elton, he was keen to pursue making the film Maybe Baby, having enjoyed success with the same story in his novel Inconceivable. But his insistence on a particular piece of casting nearly derailed the whole project. Stories of both are told in this episode. Please do like and subscribe and leave nice reviews! The boys are back...I know...INCONCEIVABLE! Sadly, they needed to pay tribute to Rob Reiner who we lost suddenly and tragically a few months ago. What better way to pay tribute than to talk about the cult fantasy classic, The Princess Bride...as you wish!

This week on Xtra Butta, Cam & Dylan finally tackle the most quoted movie of all time: The Princess Bride. You know it. You love it. You can't stop saying the lines. We break down how this movie somehow pulls off romance, action, comedy, parody, and comfort-food vibes all at once while also gaslighting an entire generation into thinking sword fights and true love are normal life skills. We talk Westley's unmatched “as you wish” levels of devotion, Buttercup's all-time elite stress decision-making, and Inigo Montoya delivering one of the cleanest revenge arcs in cinema history (six fingers still catching strays). Plus: the logic of the poison scene, the absolute chaos of the Fire Swamp, and why every single side character feels like the main character. Is this the most rewatchable movie ever? Why does it hit harder the older you get? And how did a movie this unserious become so emotionally bulletproof? Inconceivable? Nah. That's just Xtra Butta doing what it does best. In this episode, Chuck Todd reacts to the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl, then examines the political shockwaves rippling through Washington after Donald Trump’s controversial and widely condemned post about the Obamas, placing it within the broader context of Trump’s long history of racial controversies and growing unease inside his own coalition. As criticism emerges from Republican lawmakers, conservative legal voices, and even Olympic athletes, Todd explores signs that Trump’s influence may be weakening—fueled by internal party fractures, controversial foreign policy moves, and a leadership circle increasingly insulating him from reality. With a surge of congressional retirements, warning signs from special elections, and historical trends favoring the opposition party, the conversation turns to whether Republicans are heading toward a major electoral setback—and whether worsening controversies, including ongoing fallout from Epstein-related revelations, could further reshape the political landscape before November. Then, former White House Chief of Staff & Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel joins the Chuck ToddCast for a wide-ranging conversation on the forces shaping America’s political and economic future. He discusses why the 2028 election will be about what’s ahead—not what’s behind—and argues that understanding AI, energy, and the changing nature of work is now essential for anyone seeking leadership. Emanuel makes the case that education and vocational training remain the clearest pathway to the middle class, warns about declining reading proficiency, and examines what schools must do to prepare students for a rapidly evolving world. He also explores how both parties lost their way on education, why fundamentals matter, and what voters are really demanding from the system. The discussion then turns sharply to politics, power, and the health of American institutions. Emanuel weighs in on Trump-era controversies, Congress’s weakened role, and concerns about election integrity and the post-election environment. He outlines how Democrats can rebuild a winning coalition by welcoming independents and former Republicans, focusing on economic fairness, and preparing for a potential 2026 wave election. The episode closes with a global lens—covering U.S.–Israel dynamics, political polarization, wealth inequality, and whether national service could help reunite a fractured country—framing a central question: if the midterms fail to reset the trajectory, what comes next for American democracy? Finally, Chuck comments on the fallout from the mass layoffs at the Washington Post, hops in the ToddCast Time Machine to revisit the history of the Iranian revolution and answers listeners’ questions in the “Ask Chuck” segment. As part of our RIP Reiner series, and joined by our guest and fan of the show, Thijis, our attention goes to The Princess Bride as we celebrate the life and legacy of the late director, Rob Reiner.Few films feel as singular as The Princess Bride. It's endlessly quotable, beautifully cast, driven by Mark Knopfler's unforgettable score, and packed with dialogue that somehow gets funnier—and more heartfelt—with every rewatch. It doesn't fit neatly into any Hollywood box: part fantasy, part romance, part comedy, and entirely its own thing. In this episode, we dig into why the film's odd place in cinema history may actually be its greatest strength, how its devoted cult following helped it age like fine wine, and why its charm feels even more powerful today. From iconic performances to razor-sharp writing, The Princess Bride stands as a timeless reminder of Rob Reiner's incredible range as a filmmaker.Inconceivable? Not at all. This one only gets better with age.Stick around until the end for a round of Haiku You Do'n?!Safe travels, nomads.

Someone told me the other day that we've done over 150,000 sets of Bhāgavatams from our concerted efforts. You know, so many of these things happen when we're not looking because we're just looking down at what we're doing right now and what we're going to do next. But together, as a team, 150,000 sets of Bhāgavatams! Inconceivable six years ago. But somehow or other, by the combined energy of all of you working together and all of the all over the world devotees feeling the same impetus to do service for service, and believing in that magic of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, as Prabhupāda did when he was aboard the Jaladūta, when he said, "This will be the tip of the spear. This is what will create the revolution in the impious lives of the world's misdirected civilization." Here we are. It's the launch of Bhādra. We have full permission from Śrīla Prabhupāda to give our mind and attention in, as he puts it, "practical samādhi" of distributing Bhāgavatam sets. We have the encouragement from the Bhāgavatam itself, from Śrīla Śukadeva Goswami, who included the verse that says, "Do this! Give it to other people. You'll go back to Godhead in the process." Let everybody go back to Godhead. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

A peer reviewed study from the University of British Columbia analyzed the most popular ADHD-related videos on TikTok and found that very few of them contain information that aligns with medical diagnostics. Even more interesting, people who consume this kind of content perceive the diagnosis to be far more widespread - and symptoms far more intense - than in reality. Social media is warping our sense of reality and self?! Inconceivable! Plus: New bi-partisan legislation aims to repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. The 1996 law shields websites from litigation if their users upload harmful content. This protection is integral to how the modern Web functions, and erasing it could lead to over-moderation and fear-based censorship. While harmful user content is always a concern, the true problem with social media is not that the content exists, but its weaponization by tech companies in the name of profit. In this case, Congress is fixing the wrong problem, and the consequences could damage online speech for years to come.
