Jessica and Dini travel back to January 27, 1995! Join us as we discuss our top 5 favorite moments from S2 EP 14, Die Hand Die Verletzt! This episode was written by Glen Morgan and James Wong. Directed by Kim Manners. Mulder and Scully investigate a case in a small New Hampshire town where a group of high school faculty members secretly practice Satanism. When a student is found dead in a suspected ritual killing, the agents uncover that the faculty's dabbling in the occult may have unleashed a supernatural force. This episode is notable for its eerie atmosphere, satirical take on moral panics, and gruesome horror elements. Do you have any X-Files-related theories, stories, key points, or podcast feedback? Morgan and Wong say farewell to the X-Files in their last episode...for a while anyway. Mulder and Scully go up against the devil. It's Andrew's favorite episode, but is it everything he remembered? See what happens when Mulder and Scully take on the satanic panic. Or rather, when the satanic panic turns out to be true. Or rather, when it's true, but only half so,… oh forget it. The devil exists in X-files.
Of all the things we're not qualified to talk about, religion is one of them. Produced by Kristen Riley and Daive Reed Follow on Twitter @CastFiles Email us at TheeCastFiles@gmail.com https://www.teepublic.com/user/the-cast-files Music by Hal Six Logo by @OokaArt ---- In fictional Milford Haven, New Hampshire, a 4-person high school parent-teacher committee meets to discuss various social events. The adults initially appear to be socially conservative, debating whether students should perform the musical Grease or Jesus Christ Superstar because the former uses the "F" word and the latter is not "appropriate for this high school." However, when the group ends the meeting in prayer, they light a candle and recite a black magic chant to the "lords of darkness." PRODUCTION: The high school where much of this episode takes place is named Crowley High School, presumably after Aleister Crowley, whose theories on "magick" shocked his contemporaries and heavily influenced modern Wicca. Later, a group of students goes out into the woods at night to play with black magic at a "witches' altar," an attempt of the two boys to "score" with the two girls in the group. Which, honestly, good move for the 90s. I was super into (what I later understood to be) white-washed Wicca in my teens. Their reading from a black magic book causes unexplainable things to happen, causing all but one of the teenagers to flee. Andrea recites the Lord's Prayer as she runs away. The remaining teen, Jerry Stevens, is choked to death by an unseen force. His mutilated body is discovered the next day, leading Fox Mulder and Dana Scully to investigate. Body desecration doesn't phase Scully in this episode.
This week we are summoning demons in the woods while we discuss “Die Hand Die Verletzt”! We're talking the superb Umbrella Vibes of this episode, frogs falling from the sky, how embarrassing it is when nobody shows up to your black mass, and the return of two podcast favorites: grunge teens and chanting. We discuss universal kid culture, take a brief detour into ‘Amanda's Bad Teachers Corner', fail to recognize Macbeth trivia, and say goodbye to Morgan and Wong (for now). We also come out in favor of emoji hexes, the most authentic of all curses.Send us an email at scullynationpod@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter and Instagram!
Scully and Mulder are called in by a local New Hampshire sheriff when there is evidence of a satanic cult operating in his town. One teen has already died and paranoia has now gripped everyone there. There is little doubt that a group of teenagers did go off into the woods to perform some type of ceremony, but Scully in particular scoffs at any suggestion they were anything more than kids acting out. As the investigation progresses, however, it becomes apparent that some of the staff are involved in devil worship, but the danger, it turns out, lies outside the group. “Hail. Hail the Lords of Darkness.” In a small town, teenagers mess around with witchcraft in the woods, getting one of them killed. Mulder and Scully are called in to investigate the death and its ties to local rumors about occult activity. Scully thinks people are taking local folklore too seriously, but mysterious things keep happening and Mulder is convinced something supernatural is going on. “Sein ist der Ort namens Hölle.” References: The Truth is Out There: The Official Guide to The X-Files by Brian Lowry The Complete X-Files: Revised and Updated Edition by Matt Hurwitz & Chris Knowles Music: “Dark Science” by David Hilowitz “The Truth Is What We Make of It” by The Agrarians You can find links to all our episodes, ways to subscribe, social media, and more here! https://linktr.ee/iwtrw --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
In the episode that no one knows how to pronounce, Mulder and Scully investigate a murder in a town with a bunch of lazy Satan worshippers. The producers say this is a 'parody' but The Girls are unsure they know what that means. Lia reveals what she'd do if she were the Devil. Alanna gets to enjoy her favorite thing: a long, insane, dramatic monologue. Also, we learn that the show named characters after internet super-fans and are starting a petition to get our names in if they ever do another season.

It's SATANIC PANIC TIME on The X-Files! The Pensky File's Clay McCormack sits down with me to discuss this fun episode about a New Hampshire high school run by a cult of devil worshippers. I mean, there's a lot to talk about you know what I'm saying? We discuss the ins and outs of this particular episode... what works and what doesn't. For the most part, it does work. But it falls prey to the typical X-Files problem of overstuffing your episode with ideas that can't be properly concluded in just 45 minutes. We also discuss matters of context... would an episode like this even be done on a modern genre show? What is the modern day equivalent of "Satanic Panic." Have the paranoid concerns usually reserved for the tabloid set become too "real" to be the meat of an escapist horror film? Anyway... it's a good talk. Dig in.
