A controversial antisemitism bill that opponents say would criminalise criticism of Israel. French MPs will vote next week on a bill that aims to tackle "new forms" of antisemitism, which has spiralled since the 7 October 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel triggered the war in Gaza. Among other measures, the legislation would create a new offence punishing incitement to "the destruction of a state". Critics claim the bill is aimed at silencing criticism of Israel and more than 600,000 people have signed a petition to push MPs to reject it. Law professor François Dubuisson argues the reform is not necessary and Cécile Marquerie, advocacy coordinator for a platform of pro-Palestine NGOs, raises concerns over freedom of speech. (Listen @2'40'') In 1926, Rey Jeanton donated a replica of the Statue of Liberty to his hometown of Izon, a small town outside Bordeaux. It was his tribute to the United States, where he had spent over 30 years of his life. During WWII, the statue was destroyed, and with it, a piece of Izon's history. A century later, Izon is recreating the statue to revive its city centre and forge a sense of identity for what risks becoming another commuter town. Then he talks about how many immigrants were turned away from staying in the US due to sickness, and puts into perspective how small a number that is. He tells us about how due to the previlance of disease, children had to be seperated from their families. He also talks about how nurses and doctors made huge advancements in health during this time period because they were able to study so many patients. So much is happening so quickly to the National Park Service. There have been staff reductions, hiring freezes, spending freezes, orders from the Interior Secretary to make sure that visitors find national parks welcoming, no matter what it takes.  Every week seems to bring something new, and quite frankly dire to the National Park Service. Most recently we've heard about the loss of about 60 employees from the agency's Alaska regional office, and there are concerns the Trump administration is going to push through even greater reductions in force for the Park Service. How are those moves impacting the parks and the Park Service? Our guest today is Kristen Brengel, the Senior Vice President for Governmental Affairs at the National Parks Conservation Association.

From screeching Police sirens to bellowing bagpipes, this was an adventure worth waiting for. It is only a few weeks since I returned from New York and I was absolutely buzzing after my first visit to the Big Apple, to such an extent that I'm inserting this bonus Podcast detailing my experience in the city and the excitement of being part of Tartan week when thousands of Scots pour into the metropolis to join thousands more diaspora Scots who come from all over America to enjoy this bagpiping, drum thumping, highland dancing, whisky drinking throng. It is incredible. The Tartan Parade actually marched up 6th Avenue, waved on by thousands of people who lined the streets. Of course this was just one part of my journey, and I share with you the wonderful times I had at Met Cloisters, Central Park where I recorded a busker singing John Lennon's song, Imagine, not far from where he used to live and was killed. I visit the Empire State Building, the Vanderbilt experience and the Peak restaurant at Hudson Yards, and all at a height of 1400 feet. I walk the Highline and take a gastronomic tour around Chelsea Market. Well, let me share my experience of New York with you, not just Tartan week but my overall visit which was a whirlwind of both tourist sites and off the beaten track places which were just as wonderful.

Did Biden know what he was signing?
