We could recreate the Garden of Eden from whence we were out-cast… We could indeed become the Beloved Community and forge A More Perfect Union, on earth as it is in Heaven… There really could exist a reality in tangible form where “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” It could be possible…here in America. But White folk would have to repent of White Supremacy. Not just pass some legislation to grant Black people a few more rights until they take them away. Not just to add more Black people to their boards of directors. Not to do any of the myriad acts they could do and should do… But to repent of White Supremacy… Yet how will that ever happen unless Black folk compel them to repent? Will White people ever be able to read the Story of the Exodus - of the Hebrew people in slavery, in Egypt, and see themselves as the oppressor? Will White people ever be able to read the Exodus and see themselves as the Egyptians, unless compelled to do so by Black Prophetic witness to the Gospel? Some folk wonder why I work with White folk on extricating White Supremacy from their sphere’s of influence. I guess it’s because I want to be able to say to the Lord at Judgment time that I tried to love my errant White brothers and sisters unto righteousness. I want to be able to say that I tried to present an example of Blackness restored to the imago Dei in which we were created in the Beginning. Blackness that has godly power to compel whiteness to at last submit to the Will of God. What is the “belovedness” of the community we wish to see? So long as we live in America, intermingled with White people, what is the vision for Beloved Community? And how is it achieved? In this episode of Blacks with Power, Pr. Jimmie and I discuss the role of Black Prophetic Preaching in the mattering of Black Life and in the forging of A More Perfect Union. Check it out and let us know what you think the role of Black preaching should be in these times… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlxyJU_B6-Q&sub_confirmation=1

MESSAGE SUMMARY: Today’s Fear-Laden World Brings You Little Joy, But True Joy Comes From Sacrificing Something for Jesus What have you, personally, sacrificed for the Gospel? Some have lost jobs, friendships, and family members because of their faith. Others, outside of the US, are losing their lives following the Gospel of Jesus due to the systemic and institutionalized persecution of Christians. For example, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reports that 6,000 Christians were killed between January 2018 and June 2018 in Nigeria. What have you sacrificed for the gospel? You cannot earn your Salvation by your actions like standing up for your faith – Salvation is provided to you by God though His Grace and your faith. Paul, in Philippians 2:8-11, posits the Gospel’s intended impact for followers of Jesus: “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.". However, there is true joy to you when you sacrifice something in your life for Jesus and the Gospel rather than always living for yourself. What have you sacrificed for the Gospel – Jesus gave His all for you?   TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Self-Centeredness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit’s fruit of Love. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 4:8-12; Acts 7:51-60; Psalms 18e:41-50. Sermon Notes • Preacher: Joel Fair • Acts 21:37 - 22:29 Pauls Identity as a Witness to the Gospel We are witnesses who both observe and proclaim. Acts 1:8 Paul uses his identity as a Jew to create an avenue to proclaim his identity as a Witness Paul Confirms his Identity as a Witness of Jesus Like many other cases in the Gospels and Acts the healing from the blindness was the proof of the spiritual healing Matthew 9:4-8 Paul is Given the Will, Voice and A Sight of the Righteous One Colossians 1:13-14 1 Timothy 1:12-17 Paul Embraces the Call to Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Romans 9:30-10:4 I often ask why I do not proclaim Christ with this same conviction? It is because I do not believe the Gospel that I am sharing. Paul did not deny his identity but leveraged them for the telling of the Gospel. Jew of Jews / Greek / Educated / Roman All of these were used so that he would be able to Proclaim the Gospel. Witness was his greatest Identity. Galatians 2:20 What identities do we have that we, like Paul, can leverage for the Gospel? Some examples could be: -Education -Nationality -Economic Status -Race -Job Title/Position -Heritage -Neighborhood -Stage of Life Have any of these titles taken a priority over my identity as a Witness to Jesus Christ? In my life, have I let my identity as dominate my identity as Christian. All of these are good identities but they serve my greatest and eternal identity. If the Bible is true then these other identities will pass away and forever we will continue to be witnesses to Jesus and his Glory and Majesty. Revelation 4:9-14 This was Paul’s greatest identity and it is the greatest identity we have.

Episode 84 Christ fully formed in you What is the central message of the Gospel? Some may say “that we may be forgiven of our sin.” Some may say “that we may be with God in heaven.” While these are included, I think there is something more basic and central, and it is that Christ may be formed in us. Today we conclude our series from the ministry of T. Austin-Sparks on Galatians. Here is his introduction: We come to this last morning of our consideration of this great question. That is, the great question as to the true nature of the dispensation which came in with the Lord Jesus. We have this morning therefore to gather up all that we have been saying into one matter. We have covered a lot of ground, but it all amounts to one issue. It is not a matter of one system over against another. That is, it is not a question of Judaism over against Christianity. It is not a question of legalism over against spirituality. It is not a question of the Old Testament over against the New Testament. And it is not a question of Paul over against his enemies. All these things have come into our consideration, but they are not the special issue. The great battle which began with the coming of the Lord Jesus, and for which the Apostle Paul was a chosen instrument, is not the battle for a special interpretation of Scripture. It is not the battle for a particular form of doctrine. And it is not the battle for a particular form of worship. It is a much bigger battle than all those things. And so we have this whole letter to the Galatians which touches all these things gathered into one word. The whole letter, and all that has to do with it is gathered into one verse. It is, so far as words are concerned, a very short verse. But you see that it is a very big verse. It is in chapter four, verse nineteen, "My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you." One slight alteration or correction ought to be made in the translation. The word "formed" ought to be translated "fully formed." So that the verse should read, "My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ be fully formed in you."
