We’re live from Disneyland during Halloween Time in Episode 63 of Dateline Mousetalgia! This week’s episode takes a good look at the Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party currently taking place on certain evenings at Disney California Adventure! We discuss the treat trails, the spookily themed Villains Grove, cool characters to be seen (including many villains and rarely seen characters), as well as the event-exclusive shows like World of Color: Villainous!! We’ll also cover the Happiest Haunts tour currently offered at Disneyland Resort. Plus, some new entertainment is on its way, there’s a new funnel cake food cart in Downtown Disney, and the Sunset Showcase Theater will soon be airing a sneak peek for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil!
In this episode we bring you audio from the Disneyana Fan Club’s “Happiest Haunts” event which was a tribute to the Haunted Mansion. We share a panel that included Alan Coats (son of Disney Legend Claude Coats), Wayne and Lucky Gracey (Sons of Disney Legend Yale Gracey) along with Jeff Baham from Doombuggies.com, Author Jim Korkis, and moderator Dennis Tanida. After that we check in with Sarah Bunny as she gives us her review of the recent Disneyland hard ticket event “Disneyland After Dark”!
Welcome to Mousetalgia's Halloween Specter-tacular! This year, we have a bountiful boo-tique of freaky features to make your Halloween a ghast - er, a gas! First, Jeff recounts the DoomBuggies 20th anniversary party held at the Winchester Mystery House on Friday, October 13th (with a special guest appearance by Ghost Host Peter Renaday... bwahaHA!) Then, Kristen takes us back to Hong Kong where she celebrated Halloween in China with a scary twist. Hear about the seasonal parade, the special events, and the haunting Maze of Madness, where Disney characters turn murderous, you party in hell, and the whole experience mystifies Kristen. Finally, author Jim Fanning joins us to discuss "Trick or Treat," the fabulous Disney animated short from 1952 staring Donald Duck. We talk a little history, share a little behind the scenes info, and celebrate that famous song. Plus - a listener's review of Disneyland's new Happiest Haunts tour, and we share our scariest moments in Disney parks.
This week, Mousetalgia gets spooky as Jeff reviews the brand new "Happiest Haunts Tour" at Disneyland Park. We offer a start to finish report on the 2-hour tour, and discuss what worked, and what missed the mark on this walking history tour "dead"-icated to the Haunted Mansion. Next, Jeff recounts his ill-fated attempt to purchase one of the new Trader Sam's Hitchhiking Ghosts mugs, and we speculate as to what might have happened with the short-lived roll-out. Finally, Jeff reports on the opening weekend of Halloween Time, and we discuss the changes to the Haunted Mansion (both permanent and holiday-oriented), and take a ride-through of the chilling new "lights out" version of the Tower of Terror. Plus - a listener's trip report of doing Disneyland solo, and we celebrate Dave's birthday!
It's never to early to start planning for Halloween as far as Disneyland is concerned, so Team Mousetalgia gets the ball rolling with some Disneyland Resort updates. Mickey's Halloween Party tickets are on sale and premium dates are just starting to sell out, and the resort announced a special "Trick or Tea" tea party and a revamped and sure-to-surprise "Happiest Haunts" tour. To help you prep for the season, Mousetalgia welcomes cosplay expert Rose Ivy from ER Collective to the show to help navigate the waters between Disney Bounding, Halloween costumes and cosplay, and Rose gives us some stories from her experiences in the field. Also, we conclude our reporting on the Disney Store's "Ghost Post," and we describe the final in-park elements of the unique experience. Plus - Jeff launches a new Haunted Mansion podcast (surprise!) - and more.
