Episode 457: 2017 D23 Expo - a look back; Fantasmic! returns from July 24, 2017 It's a fantastic super-sized episode of Mousetalgia this week as we report on our travels down to Anaheim for the D23 Expo and the various goings-on at the Disneyland Resort. First, we offer trip reports from Expo weekend in the parks, and Jeff reviews the Skyline Lounge experience as well as a soft opening of the newly-renovated Fantasmic! nighttime spectacular on the Rivers of America. Then, we offer part one of our two-episode coverage of the D23 Expo, with a focus on the show floor and everything the Expo had to offer outside of the theaters and stages. We question a few of the event's new features, report on a few struggles, and then celebrate all of the incredible experiences, sights and sounds we shared over the weekend, including reports from the Music Emporium, the Archives Pirates exhibit, Center Stage, the Emporium and the show floor, and of course, that amazing model of Star Wars Land, now known as Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Plus - Kristen describes the terror of Scrooge McDuck's Money Bin, Jeff reviews a new movie about Haunted Mansion fandom, Becky talks about the light park crowds, we have Ears to the Ground reports from the Expo - and more!
Disney fans rejoice! The D23 Expo is right around the corner and there's a new game in the Play Disney Parks App to enjoy for Expo attendees. Plus, Disneyland is taking measures to battle California's drought problem, Disneyland Paris has a truly limited edition line of new merchandise, Disney is exploring a membership service being compared to Amazon Prime, and Fantasmic! is inching nearer to a reopening date at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we jump into the main topic, it's time for a little Disney News! WDW's 50th Anniversary will officially end on March 31, 2023, about 18 months after it started. Disney announced that cast dress rehearsals for Fantasmic have started! Finally!! And lastly, is it possible that Disney will basically get their own Amazon Prime-like service? The talk around town says yes. They've mentioned QR codes during Disney+ shows and exclusive merch, but is this something people really want? It's been a while, so this week we resurrect one of our staples shows, “You can only pick one.” This time we do “Paris Edition” choosing between different rides, shows, versions of the same ride in different parks, and merch. These are always so hard, but we always enjoy how they force us to be critical of things we typically wouldn't be critical of. Especially when you have three great and unique shows that can only be seen in Paris. Do you agree with our picks? As always, thank you so much for listening! Don't forget to check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon. Have a magical week!

Shannon and Pete discuss the recent update to Walt Disney World's Park Pass reservation system. Disney Cruise Line announced the return of traditional character greetings. Also, Tusker House Restaurant is returning to a buffet and Fantasmic cast rehearsals have begun at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios. Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will receive additional discounts and complimentary magnets this fall. N088 Season 8 of the My DVC Points Podcast was brought to you by: DVC Resale Market - Industry Leader in DVC Resales DVC Rental Store - DVC Point Rentals Monera Financial - Exclusively Financing DVC Contracts Patreon supporters in the My DVC Points VIP Producer Club. Update to Disney's Park Pass system on August 23rd On August 23, Disney made some updates within the Park Pass reservation system. Disney World Guests can now book Park Pass Reservations for all ticket types at the same time, so if you are an Annual Passholder and want to book with friends that have a single day ticket, you can make all the reservations at the same time. Another change is that Park Passes will be tied to a ticket and not a guest. This means that guests can have multiple ticket types (eg. Annual Pass, day ticket) and choose which ticket they would like to assign a Park Pass reservation to. Disney is also increasing the number of tickets that you can reserve from 12 to 30 guests, which should better accommodate larger traveling parties. And lastly, Guests who wish to make changes to their Park Pass Reservations can now edit the date and Park without having to cancel it first.5 Source: Blog Mickey and Walt Disney World website Return of Traditional Character Meet and Greets on DCL Disney Cruise Line announced the return of traditional character meet and greets across the fleet by August 29, 2022. This includes up-close encounters and autographs. In a statement, Disney Cruise Line says the return of traditional character greetings, up-close character greetings, and autographs, has begun across the fleet due to the latest guidance from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and proven success at their land based theme parks. Source: WDWNT and Disney Cruise Line website Tusker House Buffet returning in November Tusker House has been open serving family style meals, but on November 1st all meals at Tusker House will return to buffet service. No details on menu or change of pricing have been released. Also, Fantasmic cast rehearsals have begun, which usually means that there is around 8-12 weeks until the show opens. Source: Disney Food Blog and Walt Disney World website; Disney Parks YouTube Extra Discounts and New Magnet for WDW Annual Passholders From September 14 through October 14, 2022, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can save 30% on most merchandise purchases at Disney owned-and-operated locations throughout Walt Disney World. This represents an increase over the normal 20% discount. In order to obtain the discount, buyers must present proof of their Annual Passholder status along with a government issued photo ID. So far there is no word on whether or not this offer will be extended to Disney Vacation Club members who also receive a standard 20% discount on the same merchandise purchases. In other Passholder news, a new complimentary magnet is set to be distributed later this fall. No word on the design. Passholders will not be required to claim this magnet in person. Instead, magnets will be mailed to all current Annual Passholders. The 50th Anniversary Mickey and Minnie Mouse magnet is currently available for pick-up in Walt Disney World now through September 21, 2022, at EPCOT's Creations shop. September 1st will be the last day to catch both of these classic entertainment options. World of Color and Fantasmic! will continue on their regular schedules. Halloween Time starts at the resort September 2nd, so this is making way for the Halloween Screams fireworks. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/catch-disneyland-forever-fireworks-main-street-electrical-parade-before-their-limited-time-runs-end-sept-1/ Ticket prices could be going up soon for Disneyland, but not because of Disney. A proposed ordinance by the Anaheim City Council would add a 2% admissions tax to all tickets sold to any venue that holds 15,000 or more people. This would add $2 to $4 to each ticket for a one-day, one-park ticket, depending on the season. If approved by the council, it would be on the ballot for voters in November. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/15/why-your-disneyland-ticket-could-cost-more-soon/ On Disneyland's 67th birthday, the Red Car Trolley returned to Buena Vista Street! Shortly after it opened, it broke down for part of the day, before returning to service later in the day. There is only one of the trolleys running for now, the second trolley is not ready for use at this time. The Red Car Trolley will be brought on stage before park opening and will make trips back and fourth to Hollywoodland, never entering Avengers Campus or going backstage when the park is open. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ There is a disturbance in the timeline in Star Wars Galaxies Edge. For the first time since the land opened, two different stories with two different time frames will be happening at once. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, along with Grogu and the Mandalorian are now seen walking around the land, with characters from the sequel trilogy also present. How does Disney deal with this time bending? Imagineering is using “story bubbles.” Basically, as long as the stories unfold to guests and don't interact with each other, it is good. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/07/13/how-disneyland-keeps-boba-fett-from-bumping-into-kylo-ren-in-galaxys-edge-and-why-it-matters/ The Downtown Disney Silletas have a new addition that helps provide some context! New signage and a QR code at each of the displays now inform guests what the display is and what it represents. Previously, it was unclear what some of the displays were about. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ Dole Whip fans mark your calendars! July 21st is Dole Whip Day! Dole Whips are available all around the world at Disney parks and resorts. Aulani, Disney Cruise Line, and Domestic Disney parks on both coasts are great locations to get the frosty treat. The Dole Whip debuted at the Magic Kingdom in Florida back in 1984. The Disney Parks blog has a recipe for guests to create the iconic treat at home. Visit the link in the show notes to make one at home! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/snack-and-listen-celebrate-dole-whip-day-with-recipe-ukulele-styled-disney-music/ Two iconic attractions are getting some new merchandise. A new pair of Haunted Mansion ears, featuring a bow with the purple wallpaper print, a black top hat with HM monogramed on the side, and the striped pattern from the cast member costumes on the ears, with some neon green bats. The Haunted Mansion is embroidered on the band on one side. The wars are on sale at the Pieces of Eight shop for $29.99. Not to be outdone, a new Loungefly backpack with Pirates of the Caribbean is also for sale. The backpack is white leather, featuring the iconic jail cell scene with the pirates attempting to get the keys from the dog. Guests can get one of these for $75. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/16/wait-until-you-see-disneys-new-haunted-mansion-ears/ Some Weeklyteers listening might have wondered what it would be like to have a corn dog for breakfast. Wonder no more! The breakfast corn dog is available for $9.29 at Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure. It is a breakfast sausage and egg corn dog, topped with powdered sugar and raspberry jelly, and is served with a Mandarin orange, Cuties, or a small bag of chips. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/07/review-start-your-day-off-right-with-a-breakfast-corn-dog-at-disney-california-adventure/ The Disney Food Blog wanted everyone making plans to visit Disneyland, or anywhere in Southern California years in advance to take some information into account before booking anything. The 2028 Summer Olympic Games will be in Los Angeles from July 14th through July 30th, with the Paralympic Games running from August 15th through 27th. Again, this is 6 years away in 2028, but a long heads up for this one. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/19/a-word-of-warning-before-you-plan-your-2028-disneyland-trip/ Discussion Topic: Fletch with The Op https://www.theop.games @gamemakerfletch on Twitter – https://twitter.com/gamemakerfletch

DOLE Whip Now Has its Own Disney Day of CelebrationFun Facts About Dole WhipDole Whip is a soft-serve dairy free and gluten free frozen dessert created by the Dole Food Company in 1984. Since 2013 it has been fully vegan. It first appeared as an attraction in the Disneyland Enchanted Tiki Room. According to the official Dole website, a 2/3 cup serving of Dole Whip contains 110 calories and 25-27 carbs (depending on the flavor). Remember, the make-at-home Dole Whip recipe that Disney published in 2020 during lockdown is not the real Dole Whip recipe. The real one is made with powder from Dole, plus water and the machine that combines the two into frozen goodness. Dole Whip used to be somewhat exclusive and very much a Disney thing to many people, but that's now changed and you can get official Dole Whip in more and more places outside of Disney Parks -- including our local movie theatre in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.Dole Whip Day is officially July 21, but the Dole Whip flavor extravaganza will continue through July 24. Join Erik and Tage this week as they are joined by Lori from All Enchanting Ears, and Ace, lifelong Disney fan as they discuss Where Star Wars Should Go, Surprise Disney Trips, Dining Preferences, Nighttime Spectaculars. Support the podcast by going to https://www.thehubcrawl.com/support. Question 1: With the Disney+ Obi-Wan show having wrapped up, where should Disney take the Star Wars Universe next? This can be a different time frame, or different characters, or different methods like shows vs movie, etc. Question 2: Have you ever surprised anyone or been surprised by anyone with a trip to a Disney park and how did it happen? Question 3: What's your preference: table service dining, quick service, or bring your own food? A mix is OK too! I guess this is more of a WDW thing. Think Blue Bayou as table service. Jolly Holiday is quick service. Bringing your own food is throwing a sandwich in your backpack. Question 4: What is your all time favorite Nighttime Spectacular, and why is it Fantasmic!? Supporter Bonus Question: If you could go back to any year at any Disney park, what year and park would you go back in time to and why?
On this edition of CTV, we shrink down to the backyard jungle that is the 1989 classic Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. We discuss how a duo known for horror films became the unlikely authors of this gem. We also discuss two big names that passed on the chance at playing Wayne Szalinski, and how the use of practical effects (for the most part,) still hold up today. Join us for all that and more as we review this beloved live action smash hit! Nighttime festivities are back in full swing and Disneyland feels completely magical again! Darrell and Colby visited Disneyland and California Adventure earlier this month and experienced The Main Street Electrical Parade, Fantasmic!, Disneyland Forever, and World of Color. Each of these shows are truly spectacular and reminded us of what was missing from our last few Disneyland visits. While we visited the parks, we also tried a few new experiences like Web Slingers, Frontierland Shootin' Exposition, Hyperspace Mountain, and the Blue Bayou restaurant. Despite the large crowds, we had a wonderful experience, and used Genie + to strategically plan out a great trip! Hank, the septopus from “Finding Dory” is now in the lagoon on one of the rocks. The water is crystal clear, and the entire attraction has been refreshed. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/take-a-look-inside-the-lagoon-of-finding-nemo-submarine-voyage-reopening-on-july-25-at-disneyland-park/ A new premium photo service is coming to Disneyland. The Disney Food Blog was on hand to report about the event. Guests could mix into the park starting at 5pm, with the event starting at 8pm. A guide map, lanyard, and wrist band are provided. Entertainment included a “Pep Rally” with Mickey's glee club and Goofy's dance team, with music from the All-American College Band. The band is made up of college students from across America and is celebrating it's 50th year. The band can be seen on Main Street daily, with no specific times posted in the app or online as of the recording. – https://www.micechat.com/325069-disneyland-news-heatwave-rolls-in-summer-crowds-thin-out-and-a-musical-tradition-returns/ A popular place to get food has rejoined the online reservation system again. The Blue Bayou is now accepting reservations online and is not walk-up only anymore. The Fantasmic! dining package has also returned to the location. When you get to your table, inform the server that you would like the Fantasmic! dining option and you will get a reserved seat for Fantasmic!, a salad, entree, and dessert and drink from the regular menu, or from a dining package only menu. The cost of the package is $89 per adult. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/24/news-reservations-now-available-for-blue-bayou-restaurant-in-disneyland/ Over in Avengers Campus, some more dining changes have occurred. The area of PYM Test Kitchen has reopened with covered seating, and the previous covered seating area has been removed by the Avengers Headquarters. The new umbrellas aren't anchored into the ground, so no word on what took so long to get this open back up. – https://www.micechat.com/325069-disneyland-news-heatwave-rolls-in-summer-crowds-thin-out-and-a-musical-tradition-returns/ This morning, we woke up and said “What a glorious morning! Makes me sick!” then Disney+ released the teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming Hocus Pocus 2 movie coming to Disney+ on September 30th. That is right, the Sanderson Sisters are back in a new movie! The teaser trailer looks great, as do the bumbling sisters. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/06/first-trailer-and-poster-released-for-hocus-pocus-2/ Ever wanted to visit all 12 Disney theme parks around the world? Disney created a trip to do so, costing $110,000. There were 75 open spots and it sold out in pre-sales. News: The D23 expo is getting a new, immersive retail experience called the “Expo Marketplace.” The 27,000 foot space will include everything from limited-time merch to the first items celebrating 100 years of Disney. You'll find pins, t-shirts, hats, books, plush toys and so much more. Some of these spaces will require a virtual queue boarding pass. More details on a reservation system will come out later this summer and if you're not able to attend, some of these items will make it to the ShopDisney store. – https://d23.com/d23-expo-marketplace-2022/ There's some hope that magic key holders won't have to keep refreshing the availability calendar for days to open up. Disneyland Paris launched a waiting list for Magic Key holders. With the new option, Magic Key holders put themselves on a waiting list for any day that may appear unavailable. If the day opens up, those on top of the waiting list are automatically given a reservation for that day. This is currently only available at the Paris Park, but that's also where the Lightning Lane started before coming State-side, which definitely helps fuel some of the speculation. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/15/will-disneyland-introduce-a-magic-key-reservation-waiting-list/ Guests that have seen the recently reopened World of Color and Fantasmic! nighttime entertainment may have noticed some updates. For World of Color, some elements were updated since parts to repair them were no longer available. From new 4k projectors to brighter lights on the Incredicoaster, the show looks amazing. Fantasmic! also received an extensive refurbishment to the entire show, which received some tech upgrades in 2017. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/20/how-disneyland-updated-fantasmic-and-world-of-color-special-effects/ There has been a lot of merchandise already on sale for the 50th anniversary of the Main Street Electrical Parade, but some new items have hit the shelves. There is also a t-shirt for $39.99 that features Elliot and June 17, 2022 written out. The character is now a face character and not the same version of Buzz from the Toy Story movies. This version fits in well with the new movie since the movie is about the real Buzz that the toy from Toy Story is based on. Guests can meet the new Buzz every hour until 4pm daily. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/17/buzz-lightyear-gets-a-new-look-in-disneyland-and-we-have-thoughts/ Several pops of color In Downtown Disney can be traced back to a Colombian-inspired tradition. The floral displays, or silletas, are a celebration of flowers. Fittingly, they start with a massive display from Encanto's Isabella and move throughout the district. The displays are a big display of inclusion and representation, such as LBGTQ+ Pride, Asian, Pacific Islander and Hawaiian heritage, Judaism, women, Indigenous and First-Nations people, Black, Hispanic, People of Latin heritage and people with different abilities. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/06/encanto-inspired-floral-displays-at-downtown-disney-district-represent-inclusion-at-the-disneyland-resort/ Last week, Cars Land turned 10 years old. The Silhouette Shop on Main Street has posted some job listings looking for artists for the location, so hopefully this location will reopen soon. – https://www.micechat.com/324417-disneyland-news-update-buzz-construction-cars-land-anniversary/ A couple of quick updates from around the resort. Over in New Orleans Square, progress can be seen at Pirates of the Caribbean. The wall inside of the Blue Bayou restaurant has come down and the bayou is looking fresh! Concrete and cobblestone is being set in the outdoor queue area, and at this time is does not appear that Lightning Lane will be added to this classic attraction. The new planters at the entrance of Tomorrowland are now complete. – https://www.micechat.com/324417-disneyland-news-update-buzz-construction-cars-land-anniversary/ Guess what classic Disneyland treat has a new variation! If you guessed churro, you would be correct. This time, it is an orange pop churro, which is a churro covered in orange flavored and colored, and comes with a side of orange and vanilla dipping sauce for $6.75 near the Haunted Mansion. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/19/disneys-newest-churro-tastes-like-your-favorite-ice-cream-bar/ The Red Rose Tavern in Fantasyland has received some extended hours and a new “late nite dining” menu options. Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana from Princess and the Frog, was interviewed on the “Kelly and Ryan” talkshow and made a comment that the Splash Mountain refurbishment had a projected opening of 2024. This is the first time that a solid timefram has been spoken about. Disney would not confirm of deny the information, but released a statement that they will have more to share at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans in July. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ At Star Wars Celebration last week, it was announced at one of the panels that new scenes would be coming to Star Tours. No details have been released on what the scenes will be, but it is always a welcome addition to have more options. Once we know more, we will be sure to talk about it on a future episode! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/disney-hints-at-new-star-tours-scenes/ As we reported last week, Radiator Springs Racers was forced to close after an incident where smoke was coming from one of the ride vehicles. After a 10-day closure, the attraction reopened on Friday, June 3rd. Still no official word on what the cause of the incident was, but a former Disneyland Maintenance Cast Member told MiceChat that the ride vehicles break down regularly and curcuit breakers in each car will cause the vehicle to stop when problems arise. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/03/disneyland-reopens-radiator-springs-racers-after-smoking-car-closes-ride-for-more-than-a-week/ and https://www.micechat.com/322588-disneyland-news-radiator-springs-racers-incident-blue-bayou-return-info/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/fantasmic-dinner-packages/availability-modal/ Guests at Disneyland can dine at a favorite restaurant that has recently reopened in a limited capacity. The Blue Bayou has returned and is not taking online reservations, but guests can join the walk-up wait list for lunch or dinner at the podium at the restaurant, or through the Disneyland mobile app. Pirates of the Caribbean is still closed for refurbishment, so the view may not be as magical as normal. The Fantasmic! dining package lists reservation times starting on June 16th. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1532803837068824578 MiceChat was able to obtain aerial photos of Toon Town progress this week. From the air, we can see that all of the pavement in the land has been removed and is currently dirt. The facade of the El CapiTOON theater is looking more and more complete. The area where the new park will be located has been cleared and awaiting work to start. Both fountains in the land have also been removed, along with the gazebo in front of the City Hall building. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ The former entrance to Tarzan's Treehouse has come out from behind walls this week. The area is much more open now for guest traffic heading out of Adventureland toward the bridge over the Pirates queue. Once again, there is not any theming on the new concrete. The lack of the entrance also allows parts of New Orleans Square to be visible throughout Adventureland. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ We are one week into June, and Celebrate Soulfully has officially kicked off at Disneyland. In Disney California Adventure, groups have been performing at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot stage, and in front of Carthay Circle daily, and seasonal food offerings scattered about. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ For anyone who has never seen Fantasmic! or would like some tips on how to best experience it, the Orange County Register posted some tips. Among the best tips are to make sure to find a spot in front of one of the mist screens. They are located in front of the island, and on both sides. If you find yourself in the middle of the screens, the view isn't as good. The other stand out tip is to catch the second show of the night. The second show is always less crowded and it is impossible to sit for hours holding a spot since the entire area is cleared after the first show, and fireworks afterward. The longest you will have to wait is about an hour. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/03/7-tips-for-watching-the-return-of-fantasmic-at-disneyland/ Much like the electrical parade, there is a favorite treat at Disneyland that keeps on returning. The Fluffernutter churro is available once again at Willie's Churros on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. The churro is a standard churro, topeed with a peanut butter sauce, marshmallow sauce, and chocolate chips. The churro is available for $6.75. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/06/review-fantastic-fluffernutter-churro-returns-to-disney-california-adventure/ When we were there last month, there was a line of walls up in front of Ariel's Undersea Adventure. Those walls have finally come down to reveal that they were just replacing the concrete in this area. This is just some of the walkway repaving that has been going on around the entire resort. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ Discussion Topic: Nicolasa from the Disneyana Fan Club

Use coupon code DLWEEKLY to get the discount. News: A few months ago, the top two Magic Key levels were listed as sold out. This week, the bottom two Magic Keys have also sold out. There is no word on when or if they will go back on sale. Speculation online thinks that this is because of the impending lawsuit around reservations and access tied to the Magic Key program. Even more speculation online thinks that the program may get reworked again before going back on sale. Only time will tell. – https://www.micechat.com/323209-disneyland-news-magic-key-locked-new-ca-resident-ticket-offer/ For Weeklyteers who are going to the park and who aren't Magic Keyholders, there is a great ticket deal available! California residents can purchase summer tickets to Disneyland starting as low as $83 per day. The ticket is a 3-day, one park per day ticket for $249 for Monday through Thursday admission, with weekend tickets starting at $299. For $60 more per ticket, park hopping can be added. Tickets are valid for trips from June 3th and September 15th, 2022. Not a bad value to get to see all the nighttime entertainment that has returned. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/31/new-ticket-deal-announced-for-select-disneyland-guests/ Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend across the street from the Disneyland Resort at the Anaheim Convention Center. A lot of Star Wars news was announced, even some parks news! Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were announced to be coming to Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, and then they were there over the weekend. Din Djarin, better known as The Mandalorian, and Grogu, better known as the Child were also announced to be showing up in the area soon. This is a break from the strict timeline that Imagineering has placed on the area, but promise that the characters from the different eras will not interact or be in the same area at the same time. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13175/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_May_31__June_5_2022#news3 Anyone who has been to Oga's Cantina in Star Wars Galaxys Edge will know DJ Rex spinning tunes for the patrons of the establishment. Soon, guests can listen to some of his tracks on a new album that will be released. No firm date at the moment, but we will keep you updated once we see it online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/videos-dj-r3x-from-disneys-ogas-cantina-is-releasing-an-album/ Signs outside of the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland tease the return of the combined museum/store/photo op. No word yet on when this will reopen, but Cast Members are stationed outside of the location telling guests it should be returning soon. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ This past weekend, Fantasmic! returned to the Rivers of America to delight guests once again. The projections look clear and bright, the show scenes look fresh, and the show was amazing as always. The best way to get a great seat for the show is to book the River Belle Terrace dining package for $50 per guest, since they are using the same reserved seating area that the Blue Bayou usually uses. Once the Blue Bayou reopens, this area is expected to be shifted to the side more to accommodate the Blue Bayou guests. The Hungry Bear location is across from the Haunted Mansion and offers a side viewing angle for the show. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ June is here, which means that the busy summer season has started at Disneyland. The Disneyland Forever fireworks show will now play nightly with fireworks 7 days a week. During the non-summer and holiday season, Mickey's Mix Magic was played with projections only during the week, with fireworks on the weekends only. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Last week, the most popular attraction in Disney California Adventure had an incident that has caused it to be closed ever since. Video online showed one of the cars on the outside racetrack portion of the attraction stopped and smoking. Though the vehicle never caught fire, the guests in the vehicle were buckled in with smoke coming from the rear. Cast Members did get out to the guests and exit them from the vehicle with no injuries. Disney has closed the attraction to investigate the incident to ensure it won't happen again. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ In Downtown Disney, food trucks have taken up residence by the old ESPN building to help feed hungry guests. These food trucks are expected to be there until at least July 4th. This is a great idea since the Earl of Sandwich is gone and there is a lack of affordable dining options, especially for larger families. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Guests staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel can enjoy one of the hotel amenities again. The pool has finally reopened after a lengthy refurbishment. None of the stores or restaurants are open yet at the location, but it is great to have the pool open so guests don't have to walk over to the Disneyland Hotel to use their pool. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Discussion Topic: DLWeekyl Vault: Former Aladdin a Musical Spectacular Genie Dylan Website – http://www.dylanwhite.com/ Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/itsdylanwhite/ Aladdin a Musical Spectacular Final Performance – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enW48NlXRj4

Some of the items include Chicken-coconut Curry Sweet Potato or the Pride Rock Punch at Troubadour Tavern, or the Peaches and Cream Funnel Cake at Award Wieners. Outside of the parks, GCH Craftsman Bar at the Grand Californian will offer Jerk Seasoned Beef Tenderloin Skewers & Coconut Shrimp, with raspberry rum sauce! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/cooking-up-the-magic-pride-rock-punch-recipe-plus-celebrate-soulfully-delights-coming-soon-to-disneyland-resort/ For those Weeklyteers who can't make it to the parks for the Pride Rock Punch, you are in luck! The Disney Parks Blog posted the recipe so you can make this thirst quenching beverage at home! With just 8 ingredients and a few minutes of time, and you can make this at home for 4-6 people, or servings if you aren't sharing! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/cooking-up-the-magic-pride-rock-punch-recipe-plus-celebrate-soulfully-delights-coming-soon-to-disneyland-resort/ Fantasmic! fans rejoice! The return of the biggest nighttime spectacular is just a few days away as we record this episode. Most of the infrastructure has been updated and refurbished to get everything show ready, and the work on the pathways along the riverfront are wrapping up as well. We can't wait to see how the show looks after its long hibernation since COVID. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ A few episodes ago, we talked about the possible value of the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge where guests can book a spot to have some goodies and watch the fireworks from the top section of the Star Wars Launch Bay. For $60, guests can come and go as they please from the lounge, and are treated to an entree, side, and dessert with unlimited assorted beverages. Food is ordered from the Galactic Grill upon check-in and then brought into the lounge by the guest. A badge and lanyard is also provided. Giant games are also on hand to keep everyone occupied. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/22/review-is-disneys-exclusive-tomorrowland-lounge-worth-the-we-found-out/ Guests who are seeking adventure and salty old pirates won't have to wait too much longer. The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is not listed on the refurbishment calendar after July 1st, so it could open around that time! Disney has not announced an official date, and there are no dining reservations offered for the Blue Bayou for that time either, but with any luck guests will be celebrating the 4th of July with the swashbuckling pirates. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ Something that Avengers Campus has been missing since its opening last year is more shade and seating. Disney has listened and some covered tables and chairs have been installed next to the Avengers Headquarters. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/seating-installed-next-to-avengers-headquarters-at-avengers-campus-in-disney-california-adventure/ So this amazing movie came to Disney+ last week and the reviews have been pretty positive. Guests can now meet the stars from the movie at Disney California Adventure. Chip and Dale from the new Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers are appearing at the entrance to Hollywood Land, to the left of the Hyperion Theater for meet and greets. The crime fighting duo are dressed in their classic outfit from the TV show. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/chip-n-dale-meeting-guests-as-the-rescue-rangers-at-disney-california-adventure-to-celebrate-movie-premiere-on-disney/ We aren't going to cover this too much until things are finalized, but there is a change being proposed by Disney to its cast members to do away with the points system for attendance issues and move to an occurrence system. Very basically, this will make it easier for Disney to let go cast members with attendance issues and makes working at Disneyland less flexible for the cast members. We will keep an eye on this and let everyone know when there is an update. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ Discussion Topic: Disneyana – https://disneyanafanclub.weebly.com/we-are-back.html
On this week's show, Disneyland veterans, David and Ronn dive into several sizzling Disney topics. Exploring The Future of New Orleans Square and Pirates of the Caribbean! What changes were made? What have we gained? What have we lost? Are there still more changes coming? Is the Pirates of the Caribbean ride changing at all? Where will the queue be formed? Right? Left? Both? Will they add Lightning Lane? What have they done and what are they still going to do to the wonderous New Orleans Square and the masterpiece that is Pirates of the Caribbean? Why doesn't Bob Chapek get credit for the good things happening in the Parks on his watch like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and get blamed for all the bad things? What advice would we give newcomers for viewing World of Color or Fantasmic!? After Star Wars Night, do we think the characters and experiences we saw like Ewok's, Jawas & Ashoka could appear in Galaxy's Edge in the future? Plus, we remember, celebrate, and honor the Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Indian War Canoes, New Tomorrowland, and Disney Legend Thurl Ravenscroft in this week in Disney history. All this and the big reveal of our Top 5 Ride Scenes at Disneyland, and more!

Fantasmic! debuted on May 13, 1992 at Disneyland. Over the years, the show has added and subtracted different scenes and elements. Some of those include the 2009 upgrade to digital projection and the current 45-foot tall dragon, known as Murphy! In 2017, new scenes and songs were added including Aladdin. The show has been performed more than 11,000 times since its debut. Fantasmic! returns to the Rivers of America on May 28th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/fantasmic-celebrates-30-years-today-and-gears-up-for-spectacular-return-to-disneyland-park-on-may-28/ Last week, Disneyland teased something returning after long last to Disney California Adventure. The Red Car Trolley should be traveling on the tracks on Buena Vista Street and down Hollywood Land. No exact date was mentioned, but it should return before the full swing of summer. Fans of Trader Sams may be excited with updates to the menu at the popular restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel. Takoyaki, which is fried octopus cakes drizzled with unagi and togarashi aioli, and topped with green onions and bonito flakes. This can be purchased for $18 and it also available for order at Tangaroa Terrace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/15/picky-eaters-beware-octopus-is-now-on-the-menu-at-a-popular-disneyland-spot/ It seems like the only constant in Avengers Campus is change. Yet another character from the Marvel universe will be on site to visit with guests. Ms. Marvel, the title character from the upcoming Disney+ show should be in the land around the time the show premieres on June 8th. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/14/another-new-character-is-coming-to-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ Next month, Celebrate Soulfully is returning in honor of Black Music Month. The Philly Phonics a cappella group will be performing on the stage in front of Carthay Circle, where the Five and Dime also perform. Mirabel will be returning to Disney California Adventure for meet and greets at the Paradise Gardens Park. Mirabel was last seen in Frontierland, after originally starting out in DCA at the same location she is now returning to. In addition to meeting Mirabel, guests can also catch the “We Don't Talk About Bruno” projection show on the facade of “it's a small world” every night. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/encanto-mirabel-meet-and-greet-returning-to-paradise-gardens-park-at-disney-california-adventure-soon/ June is just a busy month for celebrations! Members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community celebrate pride every June. With all the controversy about the Florida “don't say gay” bill and Disney, the company has decided from now until June 30th, all profits from any pride merchandise will be donated to LGBTQIA+ organizations. Previously, only a small percentage of the profit went to support LGBTQIA+ youth and families. Weeklyteers can visit the link in the show notes to see what organizations are benefiting from this donation. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/2022-disney-pride-collection-available-at-disneyland-resort-100-of-profits-benefiting-lgbtqia-organizations/ Discussion: Our Disneyland trip before the Disneyana event.
