We're trading coasts and heading west for our very first trip to Disneyland! That's right—after years of covering Walt Disney World, we're finally getting the chance to experience the park that started it all. So today, we're counting down the eight things we're most excited to see, do, eat, and feel when we set foot in the Happiest Place on Earth. We kick things off with what might be one of the biggest draws for Walt Disney World veterans—simpler planning. From more day-of dining options to Lightning Lane flexibility and shorter trips that still feel full of magic, Disneyland encourages a spontaneous, go-with-the-flow style that takes the stress out of scheduling. That leads us into the vibe of the parks themselves—Disney California Adventure's uniquely themed lands, like Radiator Springs and Avengers Campus, offer a laid-back SoCal energy that's perfect for park hopping in under a minute. We'll also chat about seasonal events and entertainment we're catching during our trip, like DCA's Food & Wine Festival and Season of the Force. Add in Fantasmic! and fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle, and we've got a lot of nighttime magic to look forward to.Of course, Disneyland's culture and character interactions are a big part of the appeal. The more relaxed pace, roaming characters, and local passholder vibe all offer a very different feel from the Florida parks. And when it comes to food, we're more than ready to dig into some legendary Disneyland snacks—from corn dogs and churros to beignets and high-quality quick service. We'll wrap things up with a look at classic and unique attractions, the charming scale and layout, and finally, the emotional pull of walking in Walt's footsteps at his original park.Join us as we count down the top reasons we're absolutely thrilled to head to Disneyland for the very first time!MEI-Travel – Expertise. In Fantasmic Objects: Art and Sociality from Lebanon, 1920–1950 (Indiana UP, 2022), Kirsten L. Scheid offers a striking study of both modern art in Lebanon and modern Lebanon through art. By focusing on the careers of Moustapha Farrouk and Omar Onsi, forefathers of an iconic national repertoire, and their rebellious student Saloua Raouda Choucair, founder of an antirepresentational, participatory art, Scheid traces an emerging sense of what it means to be Lebanese through the evolution of new exhibition, pedagogical, and art-writing practices. She reveals that art and artists helped found the nation during French occupation, as the formal qualities and international exhibitions of nudes and landscapes in the 1930s crystallized notions of modern masculinity, patriotic femininity, non-sectarian religiosity, and citizenship. Examining the efforts of painters, sculptors, and activists in Lebanon who fiercely upheld aesthetic development and battled for new forms of political being, Fantasmic Objects offers an insightful approach to the history and formation of modern Lebanon. Yasemin Ipek is an anthropologist, teacher, researcher, and author who is passionate about pursuing peace, love, truth, and justice. Learn more about your ad choices. This time, instead of the whole family, it will be a couple trip for Jenn and her husband, Joe. Jenn is back and ready to tell all about her recent getaway with husband Joe. Even though they ended up losing a day because of Hurricane Milton, they still had a wonderful trip. Their stay included two nights at the Polynesian and seven nights at Saratoga Springs. One of Jenn's hopes was that she would have better luck with the food on this trip than she has had in recent visits. Thankfully, after a couple of misses (Food & Wine and the worst hot dog Jenn has ever tried), there were some hits (Trattoria al Forno and Topollino's Terrace) that made the trip end on a high note. The Premiere Pass will cost somewhere between $300-$400, per guest, per day. – https://www.micechat.com/395044-disney-lightning-lane-and-virtual-queue-tips-and-tricks/ https://disneyland.disney.go.com/lightning-lane-passes/lightning-lane-premier/ The first guests experienced Tiana's Bayou Adventure on Monday. Magic Key holder previews began and we got our first glimpse into what the Disneyland version of the attraction is like. Key holders needed to join a virtual queue to ride, but those that were successful were able to be among the first in the attraction. The Disneyland version is much better paced than the Magic Kingdom version, with a lot of animatronics and almost no slowdown of the story or show scenes. Visit the link in our show notes if you want to see the first ridethrough. – https://www.micechat.com/262305-breaking-news-splash-mountain-to-become-princess-and-the-frog-themed/ We have an explanation for the holidays creeping in on the Halloween festivities at Disneyland. In the last couple of weeks, snow has been appearing on Sleeping Beauty Castle, way before the end of Halloween. We found out why this week. Performances for the upcoming holiday specials were filmed this week, which needed the decorations. John Legend was in the park on Friday to record his segment. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ There is another fun photo option available for guests back in Star Wars Galaxys Edge. For $39.99, guests get a photo shoot, up to nine poses, in a themed area with special lighting and props to enhance the photos. Two 6×8 prints and four wallet size prints are included. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ Weeklyteers don't have to go into the parks to have some Halloween fun. The Disneyland Hotel has a lot of activities for the season to keep people busy. Pumpkin carving and decorating, and musical performances of The Ghoulish Gals are all happening. For the dates and times, visit the link in our show notes. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ Guests watching Fantasmic! have been getting a much different show recently. The Kaa snake in the Jungle Book sequence has been missing for over a week, Maleficent hasn't been growing in the climactic battle, and much less pyro is being used throughout the show. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ The LEGO store in Downtown Disney is closed for refurbishment, but that doesn't mean there isn't some fun to be had. On Saturday, October 26th and Saturday, November 2nd, the LEGO Store is hosting a make-and-take castle build activity. Participants will build a small LEGO creation that they will be able to keep. The event will happen outside the closed store location. – https://www.micechat.com/400493-disneyland-news-tiana-debut-halloween-early-holiday-and-more/ We talked about the renaming of the lounge at the Disneyland Hotel to the Broken Spell Lounge. Did "Deadpool" take it too far? A Disney cast member playing DP in Disneyland roasted the Disney Plus TOS debacle, in which a woman died on-premises due to a food allergy, and her husband was told he couldn't sue because he had a Disney Plus trial subscription a few years ago. Then we talk about R-Rated movie characters in Disney theme parks, and what a weird choice it is all the way around because Disney is censoring everything that's "offensive." ➡️ Tip Jar and Fan Support: http://ClownfishSupport.com ➡️ Official Merch Store: http://ShopClownfish.com ➡️ Official Website: http://ClownfishTV.com ➡️ Audio Edition: https://open.spotify.com/show/6qJc5C6OkQkaZnGCeuVOD1 ➡️ Gaming News: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A7VIqE3r5MQkFgL9nifNc Disney is facing criticism for its handling of a lawsuit and its attempt to use humor to address it, particularly through a joke made by Deadpool at Disneyland, which some see as insensitive and hypocritical given the company's family-friendly image. 00:00 Disney is being mocked for trying to force arbitration in a wrongful death lawsuit, citing a Disney+ agreement, while ironically hosting a "Story Time with Deadpool" show at Disneyland. 02:01 Deadpool makes a joke about the Disney+ TOS lawsuit at Disneyland, sparking debate about his R-rated humor in a family theme park. 05:08 Disney employees may have subtly mocked the company's handling of a lawsuit in a Disneyland display, highlighting the hypocrisy in their terms of service application. 06:55 Disney uses humor to address a lawsuit over their terms of service, but the move is seen as insensitive. 08:59 Deadpool makes a joke about the Disney Plus TOS lawsuit in Disneyland, sparking controversy over its insensitivity and suitability for a family-friendly theme park. 11:34 A Disneyland employee's tasteless joke about a fire during a Fantasmic show sparked outrage, but the speaker thinks it was just a harmless attempt at humor. 12:32 Disney's decision to feature Deadpool in their theme parks is hypocritical given the character's mature content and the company's family-friendly image. 14:14 Disney's attempt to sanitize its brand is unrealistic, and its marketing of R-rated characters to kids is hypocritical, as seen in Deadpool's Disneyland joke about the Disney Plus TOS lawsuit. Joe Escalante's weekly jaunt into the business end of showbiz. This week: the latest from the civil brawl between Disneyland, Disney+ and wrongful death lawsuits. There was also an actual brawl in the VIP section at Fantasmic. Personally, I'd also pay extra to fight strangers inside the Happiest Place on Earth. Also, Joe takes issue with the one guy who dared to show up at, according to Forbes, the most exclusive club in the world, while wearing pajama bottoms. THE AUDACITY!!!!Also, Joe gives his two cents on the recent celeb-fueled DNC, and the treaacherous world of being a personal assistant in Hollywood.
