Journey back to a time of loincloth-clad heroes, questionable special effects, and magical quests as Enjoy Stuff dives into the wild world of 80s sword and sorcery films. Shua and Jay explore the legends, the laughs, and the low-budget chaos of this unforgettable fantasy era. From evil sorcerers to heroic barbarians, we celebrate the movies that tried to ride the fantasy wave and sometimes hilariously missed. Grab your glaive and prepare for adventure!   News The new Masters of the Universe trailer makes the film look pretty exciting   The first two episodes of Maul: Shadow Lord are now available, with a total of 10 episodes releasing two per week through May 4th.   A PAC-MAN themed restaurant called "Chomp Stop" is open at Angel Stadium, bringing arcade-style snacks and nostalgia.   Maxell has reintroduced a modern cassette player with Bluetooth, USB-C charging, and that classic retro vibe.   Alan Tudyk will be inducted as a Disney Legend alongside notable names like Bob Iger and Lin-Manuel Miranda at D23 in August 2026.   Actor James Tolkan, known for roles in Back to the Future and Top Gun, has passed away at age 81.   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we're Enjoying Jay has been diving into The Anatomy of Genres by John Truby, a deep exploration of storytelling structure that breaks down what makes different genres tick. He's been enjoying how it analyzes narrative "beats" and provides insight into crafting compelling stories across multiple genres. Shua has been getting creative with sculpting, using leftover clay to craft a fun bobble-head of a school mascot. He also created a Mother's Day gift by sculpting figures of his two dogs.     Sci-Fi Saturdays -  This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay spotlights Ready Player One (2018), a visually exciting adaptation of Ernest Cline's novel. While it differs from the book, the film still delivers a fun and accessible dive into a pop culture-filled dystopia, making it a worthwhile watch for both fans and newcomers. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. This week he's added some new locations from Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.   Enjoy the Loin Cloth!  Step into a misty realm of magic, monsters, and muscles as Shua and Jay return to the age of sword and sorcery films. Inspired by the success of early fantasy hits, the 1980s unleashed a wave of low-budget adventures filled with epic quests, dramatic villains, and plenty of unintentional comedy. We explore what made these films so memorable, even when they weren't exactly "good."   Along the way, they discuss a variety of films that defined (or tried to define) the genre, from cult classics to bizarre oddities. And Jay plays a fun game that challenges him to distinguish between barbarian names and heavy metal bands.   What's your favorite sword and sorcery movie? Let us know! Host Mike Rosado interviews Maggie Richardson, niece of famed Disney concept artist and illustrator Mary Blair, about Blair's life, influence, and legacy. Richardson recalls childhood visits when Blair, living bi-coastally in New York and California, brought gifts and original art, and later memories tied to Disney's orbit, including Hazel George (Walt Disney's nurse and confidant) and riding the Disney plane. She describes Blair as warm, glamorous, and collaborative, noting Blair sought others' opinions while designing It's a Small World, and clarifies Blair was not an animator but a colorist, stylist, and designer whose bold modern style challenged studio norms. Richardson outlines efforts to preserve and share Blair's personal-art archive via the "World of Mary Blair" website, exhibitions including Tokyo's "The Colors of Mary Blair," and new apparel designs based on Blair's work, with products to be sold via MagicOfMaryBlair.com; she also mentions a Mary Blair screenplay in development. This week the guys review Pixar's Wall-E (2008) — a film that somehow delivers sharp environmental and social commentary, a sweeping romance, and some of the best physical comedy in Pixar history, all with barely any dialogue. Is it the most underrated film in the Pixar canon? The guys make a strong case, and debate where Wall-E ranks among cinema's greatest robots. Then in Disney News: the new class of Disney Legends is announced ahead of D23 — and it's a fascinating mix of animators, voice actors, Imagineers, and a couple of familiar faces with movies coming out this summer. A Question Beneath Cinderella Castle This week's special Tuesday night edition of This Week at Walt Disney World started with a simple question. As work around Cinderella Castle revealed old tracks in the drained moat, Greg asked what they were. That question led Sam down a deeper path — and the answer brought back one of Walt Disney World's earliest attractions. The Full Story of the Swan Boats Those tracks were not random. They were part of the original Swan Boats that once operated at Magic Kingdom in the 1970s and early 1980s. The Swan Boats offered guests a quiet cruise around the castle hub and into nearby waterways. Unlike today's attractions, this was more about atmosphere than thrills. It reflected an earlier version of the park, where scenic experiences played a bigger role. The boats followed a guided path, which explains the tracks revealed beneath the moat. When the attraction closed, most of that infrastructure disappeared from view — until now. Seeing those tracks again gives guests a rare connection to opening-era Walt Disney World. It is a reminder that the park has always evolved, even in places most guests never think to look. Buzz Lightyear Soft Opening Continues Back in the present, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin continues its soft opening period ahead of its official return. Greg revisited the attraction and shared how his opinion has changed since earlier cast member previews. That second look added more perspective and made Buzz one of the most talked-about updates at Magic Kingdom right now. D23 Expo Tickets Go on Sale Looking ahead, D23 The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2026 tickets go on sale this week. Sam and Greg talked through what fans should expect, how quickly tickets may move, and what they are hoping to see announced.  The show also looked at the 2026 class of Disney Legends, adding another layer of anticipation for what D23 could bring this year. Easter Arrives at Walt Disney World Walt Disney World is already preparing for the Easter holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Bunny have arrived in the parks, bringing seasonal photo opportunities and a classic Disney touch. At the same time, Band Leader Mickey is performing with the Philharmagic marching band in the castle hub, adding live entertainment and energy to the park atmosphere. A Perfect Time for a Retro Easter Look With Easter approaching, Sam highlighted the Easter Parade archive — a collection that captures classic Disney holiday moments. It is a perfect reminder of how Disney has celebrated Easter over the years, and why those traditions still resonate today. For longtime fans, there is something special about revisiting a retro Easter morning. All That and More with Sam & Greg Live From uncovering the history of the Swan Boats to Buzz updates, D23 planning, and Easter celebrations, this special Tuesday night show blended Disney history with current park news.  Join Sam and Greg each week for This Week at Walt Disney World LIVE, where Disney past and present come together.

News: On March 22, a beloved character from down under will debut a new show at Disneyland. “Bluey's Best Day Ever!” at the Fantasyland Theatre will celebrate the heart and humor of Bluey. The theater will be transformed into Bluey's school where Bluey and Bingo will appear on stage at set times throughout the day, with two unique shows. A group of comedic performers and musicians will join them to bring to life popular board games, music, and dances. Chattermax, Unicorse, and a troupe of Grannies will also make appearances. There will also be a life-sized Gnome Village and Fairy Garden with interactive areas. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/bluey-at-disneyland-resort/ Magic Key Holders will have a new way to enjoy the resort with the Magic Key Road Trip pit stop scavenger hunt to celebrate Disney California Adventure's 25th anniversary. Key holders will pick up a special map at Kingswell Camera Shop on Buena Vista Street and use it to complete the hunt. After the hunt is completed, collect a prize later in April. Check the Magic Key Portal in the Disneyland App for all the details. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/california-adventure-25-scavenger-hunt/ Continuing this Road Trip theme, Magic Key holders will also want to keep an eye out in their mailboxes for a complimentary gift coming soon. An exclusive set of car air fresheners inspired by attractions and experiences from Disney California Adventure! Each mailer will include three themed air fresheners, with a citrus smell for Grizzly Peak and Soarin', new car smell for Cars Land and Radiator Springs Racers, and Sakura for San Fransokyo Square. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/magic-key-road-trip-2026-air-fresheners/ Ever since Josh Gad was made a Disney Legend and he shared not getting to be a cast member for the Jungle Cruise, it seems like Disney has been trying to make up for this. So far, he has been a Jungle Cruise Skipper, a Disneyland Railroad Conductor, a Haunted Mansion cast member, and more. This time, he is taking guests on a journey through Storybook Land Canal Boats. This time, he doesn't know the script and snuck onto the boat to entertain guests. Check out the link in our show notes to watch all the chaos. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/gad-in-storybook-land/ The Disneyland Resort just held an event to celebrate cast members with service of 10 years or more. Jan Fleener and Richard Ruiz were in attendance, celebrating 55 years of service at the resort! The two were celebrated by being driven down the Performance Corridor in the Five and Dime classic car. Cast members are invited to these events starting at their 10th anniversary, then every 5 years of service after. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-cast-service-celebration-2025/ Actress Jennifer Garner has a baby food brand called Once Upon a Farm that is now available for purchase at Disney California Adventure. Guests can pick some up at Fillmore's Taste-In in Cars Land. The food features cold-pressed pouches and plant-rich meals for babies, toddlers, and big kids. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/once-upon-a-farm-at-disney-california-adventure/ Two unfortunate events occurred at the Disneyland Resort this week. The first was a hazmat situation backstage near Star Tours that resulted in cast members being transported to the hospital out of caution. Nobody was seriously injured and it was limited to backstage. Anaheim Police were summoned to the resort in a Swatting Incident that claimed a mass shooting event at the resort. A swatting is where someone calls in a serious call to 911 that turns out to be a prank, even though police, and sometimes SWAT teams are sent. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-swatting/ https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-hazmat-incident-star-tours-backstage/ SnackChat: Bluey-themed bites – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-bluey-food-beverage-at-disneyland-resort/ Discussion Topic: History of Fireworks – https://www.micechat.com/335190-disneyland-fireworks-history-all-shows/ Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
