Gina brought in her childhood psych evaluation, Jeff G popped his Glory Hole cherry, and Greg decided the drunk-driving limit should be HIGHER...so yeah, productive morning. We went through Gina’s old school records to find out exactly what kind of kid she was, then Greg asked who everyone would “go gay for” — Sebas shoved a bunch of jail-related mystery items into Jeff’s Glory Hole Challenge + Edward Norton pissed people off with his comments about romanticizing autism, and we got an update from the listener who texted us about her dog needing surgery. Woody offered to cover the vet bill...then tried calling the woman to make sure the whole thing was legit. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The name Woody Guthrie conjures images of Dust Bowl families from the 1930s fleeing their wind-ravaged farms, along with those famous lyrics 'This land is your land, this land is my land / From California to the New York Island.' Woody's horizons extended far beyond the dusty Oklahoma hills of his youth. When his wanderings and ramblings brought him to New York City, in the 1940s, he was introduced—both personally and professionally—into a vibrant Jewish culture that he wholeheartedly embraced. That culture in turn deeply influenced his life and his music. The film, 'Dust Bowls and Jewish Souls,' presents a whole new side of Woody Guthrie. The film will be screened at the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, MA on Sunday. Following the screening, award-winning director and producer Steven Pressman will join us for a live Q&A to discuss the film, Guthrie's enduring legacy, and the remarkable Jewish influences that shaped his work.

Today on The Woody Show- Jeff accidentally showed his beanbag to a masseuse, Sebas went to a Mensa meeting, and somehow neither of those was the dumbest thing we talked about today. We also found out what makes everyone say “Therefore, I’m Out” (Menace’s game) — things like hot honey, murder porn, social-media doctors, “maxxing” and people who won’t shut up about hating AI all made the list. Plus, The Weakest Link exposed the idiots among us, and Tom Hardy has a rap album now….what does the team think about it? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After her husband Woody died five weeks after beginning Zoloft prescribed off-label for insomnia, Kim became an advocate for drug safety, transparency, and public accountability. She and Mike examine the patient's role in a system shaped by pharmaceutical marketing, warning labels, social media, and FDA approval decisions.A note before you listen: this conversation covers antidepressants, pharmaceutical marketing, drug safety, and the subject of suicide. It is shared for educational purposes only and is not medical advice; it is not a recommendation to start, stop, or change any medication (make medication decisions with your prescribing clinician). Welcome to the Land of the Terps! Cannabis School 101 is officially back, and this time Brandon and Jesse are going deeper than the usual THC percentage and strain name.Today's lesson focuses on nerolidol, a minor terpene found in cannabis and aromatic plants such as jasmine, lemongrass, tea tree, ginger, and orange blossom. It is not usually one of the largest numbers on a cannabis label, but that does not mean it should be ignored.Nerolidol has a subtle aroma commonly described as woody, floral, green, earthy, and slightly sweet—almost like fresh bark. It exists in cis and trans forms and belongs to a class of compounds called sesquiterpenes. Why do plants produce terpenes in the first place? They were not created for humans to enjoy. Terpenes help plants communicate, defend themselves, discourage certain insects, attract beneficial organisms, and interact with the environment around them. The guys use an entourage analogy to explain why isolated compounds cannot always predict a complete cannabis experience. One person can accomplish something alone, but the right team working together may create something entirely different. Cannabis is similar: cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, dose, and personal biology all contribute to the final experience.Research has investigated nerolidol for insect-related plant defense, skin penetration, and possible calming or sedating properties. That does not make it a proven treatment, but it does make this minor terpene worth watching as cannabis research develops.Brandon and Jesse explore nerolidol while vaporizing Blue Lobster, a strain in which it may appear alongside more familiar terpenes such as myrcene, limonene, beta-caryophyllene, and linalool. Blue Lobster's calm, relaxed experience gives the guys a real-world starting point for discussing how a minor terpene may fit into a much larger chemical profile. The conversation also covers vaporizer temperatures, cannabis aroma, topical products, fast-acting edibles, dosing mistakes, CBD and CBG flower, and why beginners should never assume a product is mild based only on its size. The homework is simple: stop shopping by THC percentage alone. Ask for the certificate of analysis, examine more than the top three terpenes, and begin noticing which combinations consistently work well for you.In this episode:• What terpenes do inside plants• What nerolidol is and how to pronounce it• Cis-nerolidol versus trans-nerolidol• Woody, floral, earthy, and fresh-bark aromas• Nerolidol in jasmine, ginger, tea tree, and citrus• Plant defense and chemical signaling• Monoterpenes versus sesquiterpenes• The cannabis entourage-effect theory• Why minor terpenes still matter• Blue Lobster and its terpene profile• Research into skin penetration and topical formulations• Vaporizer temperature and aroma• Fast-acting versus traditional edibles• Why accurate edible dosing matters• CBD and CBG flower for lower-tolerance consumers• Reading a cannabis certificate of analysisLand of the Terps: What Is Nerolidol?Find everything in one place here:

Finding Joy When Life Changes the Plan with Julie Boden Schmidt What happens when someone who has spent much of her career working in healthcare suddenly finds herself searching for answers about her own health? In this episode of It Just Takes One, Kelli welcomes Julie Boden Schmidt back to the podcast. Julie is the author of the children's book Woody's Leap of Faith and a contributor to HER Legacy: A Tribute to Elaine LaLanne's Impact on Health, Wellness, and Empowerment. Her chapter, “Finding Joy in My Struggle to Find Health and Meaning,” shares a personal side of her story that many listeners will understand. Julie talks openly about the frustration of knowing something isn't right, searching for answers, and learning that health can affect far more than the body. It can change the way you see yourself, the choices you make, and the things that bring meaning to your days. The conversation also explores the difference between having medical knowledge and becoming the person who needs care. Julie's professional background gave her a clear understanding of the healthcare system, but her personal experience required patience, self-advocacy, and a willingness to keep asking questions. Through it all, Julie found ways to hold on to humor and joy. Her story reminds us that joy doesn't have to wait until every problem has been solved. It can be found in small moments, meaningful relationships, and the decision to keep participating in your own life. Listeners who remember Julie's earlier conversation about Woody's Leap of Faith may notice a familiar thread. Sometimes life asks us to leave what feels safe, trust ourselves, and take the next step before we know exactly where it will lead. Julie's children's book carries a message about courage and believing in yourself, and those same lessons take on new meaning in her own health journey. Listen in for an honest, thoughtful conversation about health, purpose, and finding reasons to laugh along the way.
