News: This week kicks off the 70th Anniversary celebration, and the park is almost ready. Decorations have appeared all over the resort with the “Celebrate Happy” branding. The Mickey floral at the entrance has been replanted utilizing the celebration colors. The Disneyland Monorail has a new wrap with the 70th celebration graphics. Sleeping Beauty Castle has received the “Celebrate Happy” logo above the drawbridge, and colorful bunting has been installed all along Main Street. A new mural is on display in Downtown Disney near the new entrance gates by Din Tai Fung. There will be a number of “70” stickers placed throughout the games of the attraction changing the values for those targets. News: More and more keeps being announced for the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland. A new light, sound, and projection moment will be coming to Carthay Circle and Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. Various media outlets were invited to the Imagineering campus to see the life-sized concept sculpt, and to learn more about the show. Walt's voice in the show will be his own, with clips of his actual voice were painstakingly assembled from interviews. The animatronic itself is very lifelike. Red Guardian, who first appeared in Black Widow, and is featured in the new movie Thunderbolts, will be meeting and greeting with guests. The Port Royal Curios and Curiosities shop, right next to the Royal Street Veranda, has been changed into a seating area for diners. Since the shop duplicated the merchandise which can be found at Madame Leota's “Somewhere Beyond” shop, the old location was not needed. The decor was not updated much, except to turn it into a jazzy looking speakeasy. Some of them have been in rough shape in recent times, but they are currently being refurbished for the 70th. News: An iconic part of Disneyland history – and Disney in general will be getting refurbished soon. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room closed this week to perform routine maintenance on the lighting, sound, and show. The mighty tree of Tangaroa will be recreated from a high resolution digital scan. The current Tangaroa is no longer able to be repaired, having been there since the attraction opening in 1963. Antonio has been working at the Disneyland Resort for 18 years, and has received over 735 cast compliments from guests. Antonio works at Pixar Pier attractions and before Disneyland, worked for nearly 10 years in hospitality in Dubai and Qatar. A kiosk for guest self-checkout has been installed. The system scans the items on the tray, adds it up, and asks for payment. News: Star Wars Celebration Japan just wrapped up and there were some new details about changes coming to Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Starting on May 22, 2026, guests will have more control over their experience piloting the Millennium Falcon. Crews will be in charge of the destination that they travel to. New locations like Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or Coruscant will be options. The engineers will also be able to communicate with Grogu. Guests are being encouraged to participate in the Food Scraps program. The program takes uneaten food and turns it into nutrient-rich feed for farm animals. Disney committed $15 million to the effort back in January. Disney has added “Disney Field Days” where they go and bring carnivals with characters, games, activities, and more to locations impacted. Recently, two schools in Brentwood, Disney cast members and VoluntEARS put on these events – to over 900 students. Two people who lost special items in the fires got a version of them back. One eight-year-old lost her giant stuffed Tigger in the fire, Disney replaced it with one that had traveled around Disney's Animal Kingdom. News: We are still almost a year away from the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend 2026, but there are some new details that were released this week. The weekend will take place during the 70th anniversary celebration “Celebrate Happy” and will be called the “Celebrate Happy” Half Marathon Weekend. The dates are January 29th through February 1st, 2026. The 5k “Celebrate Joy” race will take place on January 30th, the 10k “Celebrate Imagination” race will take place January 31st, and the “Celebrate Togetherness” half-marathon will round out the weekend on February 1st. Racers who complete the 10k and half-marathon will get the “Celebrate Achievement” medal. When the location reopened recently from its refurbishment, there was a temporary sign covering the popcorn lights underneath. What you may not know is that it is much older than that! The specifics of the package have not been released, but the Disney Eats Instagram page showed the new food offering. This is a larger “key” that can be used to unlock the 9 lands of Disneyland to reveal a hidden keepsake pin inside the key. There are 9 pins possible. The lands can be unlocked in one visit, or over multiple visits as your progress is saved between visits. Guests will be able to vote on the Disneyland app for one of the four emotions – Sadness, Anger, Disgust, or Envy – to have them featured in the World of Color Happiness show that night. A new tour called “A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour will be available. The tour is two hours and explore the history of Disneyland. Bookings start on April 24th. Some new interactions and effects are coming for MagicBand+ around the resort, and new PhotoPass magic. Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! starts on May 16th at the Disney Theatre in Hollywood Land, the Pixar Pals Playtime Party at the Fantasyland Theatre starts May 23rd, along with Stitch's Interplanetary Beach Party Blast in Tomorrowland. Rex will be out on Pixar Pier starting June 1st. – DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Dance Parties, Demolition & The Competition Awakens This week, the first of the Star Wars Nites at Disneyland is taking place. If you are wanting to attend this event, there are still tickets available for all the nites, except for May 4th. One of the Red Car Trolleys has been donated to the foundation to support their mission of helping students discover STEM and STEAM careers. This is a project that has been progressing through versions for the last year at Disney California Adventure. It appears the resort has landed on a system that will work for them. The new gates allow guests to scan their own tickets and take a photo if one is not on file, allowing entrance with a valid park ticket and reservation. The new system should cut down on the amount of cast needed at the entrance to the parks and could result in faster entry for experienced guests. – Disneyland Update – Tiger Unleashed, Gate Update & Legal Fallout A missing element has returned to the Jungle Cruise. The temple that the Bengal Tiger was housed in has been restored. The previous show scene was removed after the elements and time had taken it's toll.
