Disney almost had a Legend of Sleepy Hollow ride, in not one, but TWO different parks. In this episode of Distory with Kate & Kirk, we unearth some rare concepts for an Ichabod Crane-themed attraction by Imagineering—ideas that, much to our chagrin, never saw the light of day. We begin with a brief tour through the history of the Sleepy Hollow portion of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, highlighting some incredible concept art by Mary Blair. From there, we head over to Walt Disney World to investigate what happened to Ichabod in both Fantasyland and Liberty Square. Along the way, we explore architectural influences rooted in literary history, uncover the origins of a classic Haunted Mansion song, and learn the backstory behind a popular invisible dog joke. Kate also shares details about a little-known, never-realized land once proposed for Disneyland. Meanwhile, Kirk terrifies us with a bizarre attraction from Hong Kong and reveals some shadowy concepts that reflect his deepest wishes for Liberty Square. We end the episode watching the Headless Horseman ride into the sunset—along with our hopes for what could have been (and may never be) when it comes to seeing this eerie attraction brought to life in the Disney parks.Join us LIVE on YouTube most Thursdays at 10:30am Pacific/1:30pm Eastern for more Distory!Kate's Youtube: @disneyciceroneYou can also find us on Instagram, Facebook, and at disneycicerone.com & walruscarp.comView full video versions of each episode at Disney Cicerone's YouTube channel HERE OR on the Spotify version of our podcast.Distory T-shirts and StickersKate's SubstackKate's books on AmazonWalrusCarp T-shirts & MerchMOWD app

In honor of Women's History Month we're producing a two-part series about two artists who were visionaries and trailblazers. In part 2, we look at the career of Mary Blair. She changed the way Walt Disney wanted to make animation and brought modernist sophistication to his style. But not everyone at the studio was on board with Walt's dream to “get Mary in the picture.” I talk with animation historians John Canemaker and Mindy Johnson about the influence of Mary Blair, and how we've experienced her work more than we've actually seen it. And I talk with author Gabrielle Stecher about the more complicated aspects of Blair's legacy. Mindy Johnson's book is Ink & Paint: The Women of Walt Disney Animation. John Canemaker's book is Magic Color Flair: The World of Mary Blair. Gabrielle Stecher's article is “Examining The Legacy of Mary Blair.” This episode is sponsored by Audible and Remi. In honor of Women's History Month, we're producing a two-part series about two visionary and trailblazing artists: Mary Blair and Milicent Patrick. They went to the same art school. They each began working at Disney during the Depression. They were both singled out for their talents but left in 1941. From there, they went on to have wildly different careers, but each had a lasting impact on pop culture. In part one, I talk with authors and historians Mindy Johnson and Mallory O'Meara about Milicent Patrick. She started as a special effects animator on Fantasia before designing the Gill-man from Creature from the Black Lagoon. Plus, I talk with makeup and effects artist Steve Wang about why the Gill-man is a horror icon. Mistakes? Bring 'em on! In this delightful episode, Jed Doherty chats with author and illustrator Eliza Kinkz about her charming new picture book, "MISTACO" - a celebration of imperfections and the beauty of embracing our flaws. Eliza shares how the book was inspired by her own experiences growing up, where she struggled to open up about her mistakes. She wanted to create a "safe space" for families to share their slip-ups without judgment. And what better way to do that than with a silly, taco-themed character named "MISTACO" - a nod to the Spanglish words Eliza grew up with. As an artist, Eliza's vibrant, chaotic style is the perfect match for this playful story. Jed praises her use of "joy, color, and chaos" - qualities that Eliza says were heavily influenced by the legendary Disney artist Mary Blair. It's a style that perfectly captures the unpredictable, messy nature of childhood. But "MISTACO" isn't just about the laughs. Eliza and Jed dive deep into the importance of teaching kids (and adults!) to embrace their mistakes. They share personal stories of how parental reactions can deeply impact a child's self-esteem, and why it's crucial to model self-compassion. Whether you're a parent, educator, or just a kid at heart, this episode is a delightful reminder that perfection is overrated. So grab a taco, get cozy, and get ready to celebrate your inner "MISTACO"! We also have a fun time speaking with Brenda Do, author of It's OK Not To Know. Brenda shared how the inspiration for the book came from observing her young nephew's hard reaction to making a mistake. This led her to explore the important lesson of embracing failure and uncertainty as a path to growth. Brenda emphasized the need to teach self-compassion to children, rather than pushing them to be perfect. She drew parallels to her own upbringing in the Asian-American community, where mistakes were often harshly judged. Brenda's book aims to celebrate curiosity and the freedom to not have all the answers - a message that resonates for readers of all ages. Jed and Brenda's discussion highlighted the power of using children's literature to promote empathy, resilience and the joy of learning. Prasansook "Fawn" Veerasunthorn is a Thai film director and animator. She worked as a storyboard artist on the Disney Animation films Frozen, Moana, and Zootopia and as head of story on Raya and the Last Dragon. Her first feature film was Disney's Wish, in collaboration with Chris Buck. This episode delves into Fawn's transformative journey upon relocating to the US, navigating the hurdles of language barriers and cultural disparities. Despite these challenges, she found solace and purpose in her passion for art, propelling her forward on the path to becoming an animator and director for Disney projects. Fawn Veerasunthorn, born in Chonburi Province, Thailand, found her calling in art from a young age, inspired by the magic of Disney's "Dumbo," particularly the work of Mary Blair. After attending Triam Udom Suksa School in Bangkok, Fawn pursued medicine at Mahidol University but soon realized her true passion lay in fine arts. Encouraged by animator Paitoon Ratanasiritrawoot, she made the bold decision to move to the United States and study at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Upon graduating in 2004, Fawn embarked on a remarkable journey in the animation industry, working at esteemed studios such as 6 Point Harness, Warner Bros. Animation, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, and Illumination. Her talent as a story artist shone through in projects like "The Lorax" and "Despicable Me 2." In 2011, Fawn joined Walt Disney Animation Studios, contributing her skills to blockbuster hits like "Frozen," "Moana," and "Zootopia." Her exceptional work led to her promotion as head of Disney's animation department and her pivotal role as head of story on "Raya and the Last Dragon." Fawn's achievements reached new heights when she was appointed as co-director of Disney's upcoming film "Wish," making history as the first Thai artist to helm a Disney animated feature. Her contributions to the industry have been recognized by both Disney and the Government of Thailand, solidifying her legacy as a trailblazer in animation.

News: The Adventureland Treehouse will open later this week to the public, but Disney released a preview of the reimagined attraction online last week. The video shows the father's painting area which is wheelchair accessible and allows guests who cannot climb steps to experience the different rooms. The animatronics, audio, and overall asthetic looks amazing. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/videos/full-tour-adventureland-treehouse-at-night-disneyland-resort/ https://www.micechat.com/338868-breaking-news-disneylands-new-adventureland-treehouse-revealed/ The new bar at the Villas at the Disneyland Resort has opened to guests. The Palm Breeze Bar is colorful and fun, reminiscent of Mary Blair's designs. The food has been reported as very good, however it is on the pricier side. This could explain why a new location like this isn't as busy as other similar locations that have drawn much bigger crowds. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ With the Holiday season starting this week, the Christmas tree on Main Street has been installed. The tree towers 60 feet tall and is covered with more than 1,800 ornaments. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/11/photos-christmas-tree-arrives-on-main-street-u-s-a-at-disneyland-park-for-2023-holiday-season/ With the Holidays starting this week, there is a Holiday Foodie Guide that the Disney Parks Blog released. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/11/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-holidays-at-disneyland-resort-2023/ In addition the the regular holiday food, there is also the Festival of the Holidays Foodie Guide! {talk about the food} Maybe mention the new food segment coming in the new year? – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/11/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-disney-festival-of-holidays-2023-at-disneyland-resort/ Of course there is a TON of new holiday merch that has arrived ahead of the official holiday season this week. From ears, to spirit jerseys and everything in-between, there is truly something for everyone. – https://www.micechat.com/369082-disneyland-holiday-merchandise-2023/ A new character from the upcoming Disney movie Wish is going to be meeting and greeting at the resort soon. On November 22nd, the day of the movie premiere, she will be in front of the Royal Hall in Fantasyland. It isn't clear if she will be around beyond the one day, but we will update you once we know. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/11/asha-from-wish-arriving-at-disneyland-resort-on-november-22/ There is trouble on the waterways of the Jungle Cruise. The attraction closed abruptly last week and was closed through the weekend. Scrims have gone up around the tiger area that can be seen from the exterior portion of the Indy queue. Micechat reports that the rockwork by the tiger was crumbling and in need of repair. The attraction will hopefully reopen with this section behind scrims. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ As we reported on previously, part of Toontown have come out from behind construction walls. The fountain is the only section that was previously closed to guests that is still unavailable, and the walls moved around Goofy's How to Play Yard, and Donald's Duck Pond. November 11th should be the last day for all walls in Toontown, unless the schedule slips. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ January 7th will mark the end of Tail of the Lion King in the Fantasyland Theatre. The show ran for a little under two years, and wasn't as flashy as other shows that used this venue, but it was still a very well done, lively show. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ Discussion Topic: Adventure by Disney Trip with Josey https://www.adventuresbydisney.com/destinations/around-the-world/global-jet-adventures/ This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

Why do all the characters in Phantom Canyon look so familiar? In this episode of Distory, we mosey on into the town of Phantom Canyon where playful spooks are having a (western-themed) swinging wake. As we inch through this fascinating alternative to the Haunted Mansion graveyard scene, we compare Marc Davis's and Mary Blair's original concept art for Western River Expedition to what made it into Phantom Manor, find some familiar faces, and discover stories from Victorian literature that inspired this spooky netherworld. After telling a few ghost stories of our own and flying through the vortex, we escape the manor only to find ourselves in Boot Hill cemetery, which has its own sordid history laced with scandal and mystery. As predicted, it's the end of the line for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the ill-fated Disney immersive experience. The three reasons why this failed, plus magical Steamboat Willie at the new Disneyland Hotel DVC tower and a tempting new menu for Hollywood Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios. As Predicted, Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is DoneIt was doomed to fail before it ever sailed, which we discussed at length most recently in Episodes 163 and 168We now know the final voyage for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will take place Sept. 28-30, 2023.While Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was one of our most creative projects Disney has ever implemented at Walt Disney World, there were a number of epic fails that have led to its demise.·       Bad marketing that pandered to "influencers" and turned off their upscale target guest demographic·       An immersive experience that wasn't truly immersive, a ban on mobile devices should have been number one·       Guest accommodations that were not of the stature they should have been. This could have been remedied while staying on theme.Disney is currently contacting guests who had booked voyages to sort out how they will manage this in the time remainingAll is not lost, however. We shared several ideas for what we believe are workable solutions for this space. So we will see how things evolve over the coming months.-- Steamboat Willie at the Upcoming Villas at Disneyland HotelClassic Disney animation is at the heart of the theming for the upcoming Disney Vacation Club property at Disneyland Hotel (opening in September). As part of this, the new Palette Pool, Palm Breeze Bar, and themed splash pad will incorporate elements from Steamboat Willie.A large model of the Steamboat Willie boat will be captained by Mickey Mouse as it comes to life with fun water play features. From the boat's cascading waterfall, misty fog effects rising from the boat's funnels and the variety of pop jets and fountains, it promises to be an instant classic for your little ones. Thanks to a little Disney magic, after dark the Steamboat Willie splash pad will transform from black and white to vivid colors with the help of some artistic lighting. For us older kids, the artist-palette-shaped pool anchored by rainbow glow of multi-colored lounge areas will be a place to relax and unwind.Drinks and snacks will be available at the Palm Breeze Bar. This outdoor venue will feature modern decor inspired by the imaginative artistry of Disney Legend, Mary Blair (who also worked on it's a small world and the murals in the Grand Canyon Concourse at Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort Hotel).-- New Seasonal Menu at The Hollywood Brown DerbyHollywood Brown Derby at Disney's Hollywood Studios recently launched a new seasonal menu. Will this help to elevate this Signature Dining to a level that it has never really reached?New starters include the Crab Louie, which features crispy olive bread, citrus blend, fried capers and Louie sauce. There's also Shrimp Cocktail topped with shaved fennel cucumbers and a traditional cocktail sauce. For cheese lovers, the Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Salad combines shaved onions, Thai basil, gremolata, and a delicious citrus vinaigrette, while the Charcuterie Board features the Chef's selection of cured meats, cheeses, and accompaniments. An Escargot app is accompanied by roasted garlic béchamel and crispy prosciutto and the Roasted Bone Marrow is composed of braised beef, pickled mustard seeds and a fig bread crostini. The entrée menu includes a classic Filet Mignon with glazed carrots, potato pave, horseradish cream and a peppercorn sauce. The Lamb Shank comes with summer vegetables, harissa vinaigrette, and nasturtium chermoula. The new Free-Range Chicken and Dumplings dish features a lemon-ricotta Gnudi, shishito cream, and a gooseberry jus. If pork is your thing, the recently added Grilled Pork comes with a lavender-sage polenta and local corn salsa, complete with a huckleberry barbecue sauce. On the seafood side, the Sustainable Fish dish has a white bean ragout, derby summer vegetables, and roasted tomato emulsion. The Seafood Cioppino brings together shrimp, sea scallops, seasonal fish, mussels, a toasted baguette and aromatic tomato broth. Finally, there's even a classic comfort dish in the Shepherd's Pie. This combines roasted garlic mashed potatoes, mushrooms, peas, corn, and carrot Romesco and it's plant-based.Disney notes that the Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake are both still on the menu.--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. This week, the randomizer goes all the way back to 2021 to once again cover a Disney+ original documentary series all about, what a shocker, just how awesome Disney is at doing the things Disney does! This time, it talks about that one time all the countries in the world converged on Flushing Meadows in Queens, and Walt Disney, Pepsi-Cola, the "No Wire Hangers" lady, a team of exhausted overworked Imagineers and of course the songwriters of "Pineapple Princess" all combined efforts to show those countries of the world, "here's what we think you'd look like if you were all adorable doll-children stuck singing the most insufferably insipid melody ever devised until the end of time." “If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.” This week the ladies of Disney ReWINEd are joined by their friend Jenna (@the_littlest_pan) to discuss Adina's pick, Alice in Wonderland. Rachel pairs this with Wolffer's gorgeous Summer in a Bottle rosé—of which there are two versions. Adina shares the very tangled history and production that led to making the movie, Rachel gives her long-awaited tribute to the *iconic* artist Mary Blair, and Jenna compares interesting bits of the movie to Lewis Carroll‘s novels. Together the three of them laugh at the ridiculous nonsense and lack of plot in this movie. So steer clear of the rabbit hole, grab a teacup, and rewind back to Alice in Wonderland! Cheers! Food from Disney chefs at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World are on tap, along with a Twitter watch party for Hocus Pocus on Wednesday, April 27th at 5pm Disneyland time, which will also include some digital wallpaper downloads. On Thursday, more announcements will be made to celebrate. The Disney Parks Tik Tok account will have live content from all the Disney Parks locations, with some more surprises. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/join-us-for-our-biggest-and-best-disney-halfwaytohalloween-celebration-yet/ Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort in the next few days can experience the ghoulishly delicious treats to celebrate Halfway to Halloween. At Downtown Disney, there will be a Cheddar Pickle Dog at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs through May 1st. There will also be a Spooky Churro at California Churro through May 4th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/first-look-at-disneys-halfway-to-halloween-eats-and-treats/ A new Disneyland After Dark event is coming to the resort for the first time. Disneyland After Dark Grad Nite Reunion will take place on multiple nights throughout June at Disney California Adventure Park. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/introducing-the-first-ever-disneyland-after-dark-grad-nite-reunion/ The Main Street Electrical Parade returned this past week with a few new surprises that weren't announced. We all know about the new text on the lead float, and the reimagined finale float, but even more was changed! The intro to the parade has been reworked to include part of Walt's opening day speech, and the music has been updated for the finale float. A little bit of extra magic was added to the finale float along “its a mall world” and Main Street. Projections that tie into the Mary Blair theming of the new float are presented as it passes guests. – https://www.laughingplace.com/w/articles/2022/04/21/interview-how-disneyland-is-celebrating-the-50th-anniversary-of-the-main-street-electrical-parade/ and https://www.micechat.com/309935-big-disneyland-entertainment-returns-for-2022/ With the return of the Electrical Parade, two items have been very popular. The Eliot popcorn bucket, and the Turtle sipper drew long lines from guests wanting to get their hands on this fun collectible. Both of these items are available at multiple popcorn carts and dining locations, so be sure to check around if you are trying to get your hands on one of these. New for something this popular is the ability to mobile order these through the Disneyland app. This can save hours waiting in line. – https://www.micechat.com/309935-big-disneyland-entertainment-returns-for-2022/ The Main Street Electrical Parade may have stolen the limelight, but World of Color has also returned this past week. Unlike the Electrical Parade, this show is presented in its previous form with no new updates. Guests wanting to get the best viewing possible will want to either book a dining or dessert package, or grab a virtual queue reservation prompt at noon. The virtual queue spaces have been filling up almost instantly after being available. – https://www.micechat.com/320184-disneyland-update-electric-entertainment-magic-key-blues-rumors-too/ Character meets and greets are back at Disneyland delighting guests. A variety of interactions can be had around the parks from standing in line to see a favorite character, to a casual encounter with a character walking around. One of the longest waits for characters so far has been the Princess Fantasy Faire, with one of the shortest waits at the Fantasyland Theatre where Mickey Mouse was spotted. – https://www.micechat.com/320184-disneyland-update-electric-entertainment-magic-key-blues-rumors-too/ New Orleans Square has seen a flurry of activity and walls all over the place the last couple of months. The first section of modified tiering has been unveiled and looks pretty good. The walkways are more open and without the stairs and larger planters in the way, make it much easier for guests to get from one place to another. The brick walls around the planters make a great place for guests to sit for a break as well. – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsRCY-LribM Mother's Day is quickly approaching and there are a lot of options at the resort to take advantage of. Inside of Disneyland at the Plaza Inn, there is a Mother's Day Brunch with Minnie and her friends. At the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa lobby at the holiday cart, there is an assortment of sweet treats. Storytellers is hosting a Mother's Day Brunch and Dinner. Finally, Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel will offer a Brunch and Dinner as well. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/04/20/full-list-of-mothers-day-snacks-available-in-disney-world-disneyland/ A new kiosk has been erected outside of the Star Wars Trading Post in Downtown Disney. The appearance of this kiosk is perfect timing for the upcoming May the 4th celebration. Additional merchandise will probably be sold at this location for the event. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/04/new-kiosk-erected-outside-star-wars-trading-post-in-downtown-disney-district/ The culinary experts of the Disneyland Resort have done it again! The lobby of the Grand Californian is now the home to a massive edible model of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. The display is made from Rice Krispy Treats and painstakingly painted by the food artisans. The spires of Black Spire Outpost are featured heavily, along with a large model of the Millennium Falcon. – https://fb.watch/cDMVS7ugZY/ Guests from a galaxy far. far away who have tickets for Star Wars Nite coming up can start their meal planning now. Some of the food items have already made it onto the Disneyland mobile app. – https://www.micechat.com/320184-disneyland-update-electric-entertainment-magic-key-blues-rumors-too/ Weeklyteers who might want to own a piece of Disneyland or the Walt Disney Studios history should check out the next Van Eaton Galleries Auction. The auction will feature over 900 artifacts from the company and park. Specific items include original production background from the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon “Ozzy of the Mounted,” the original artwork for a 1932 Mickey Mouse comic strip, a Gustaf Tenggren layout drawing for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, an original Walt Disney Studios animator's desk, original Mary Blair concept paintings, rare animator's maquettes, Walt Disney autographs, and much more. – https://vegalleries.com/historicjourney Visitors to the Disneyland Resort are no longer required to wear mask in most situations. Guests using First Aid, for example, will still need to wear a mask. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/04/24/news-mask-requirements-changed-for-disneyland-transportation/ There has been a lot of confusion and talk around the internet about the renew-ability of the Magic Keys. It all started with a single post online that stated that Disneyland would not allow renewal of their Dream Key. It is a lot more nuanced than that. At this point, we are still a couple of months away from the vast majority of people renewing their keys in July, since passes can be renewed 45 days before expiration. Disneyland does not seem to have made a decision on what they are going to do with renewals since the top two tiers of Magic Keys are currently sold out. – https://www.micechat.com/320184-disneyland-update-electric-entertainment-magic-key-blues-rumors-too/ Discussion Topic: Sarah M – How Disneyland Changed my Life Mom Video – https://youtu.be/Z0WVYadfAj8 Teresa's Yoga App – Apple Store – https://apps.apple.com/us/app/yoga-for-beginners-mind-body/id1382141225

Disney is rolling out a virtual queue system for guests to use through the Disneyland mobile app to grab a spot for the show. Guests will need to have entered Disney California Adventure on a one-park ticket, or Disneyland on a park hopper ticket to be able to get the reservation in the virtual queue. The virtual queue will open at noon every day the show runs. Guests will receive notifications 45 minutes before the show starts to head to either a blue or yellow gate to enter the seating area. Guests can still walk up to see the show, but reservations are highly recommended. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/dazzling-world-of-color-returns-on-april-22-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ Character meet and greets started up again this week, without Genie+ required like in Walt Disney World. Since January, the Florida parks have offered four different meet and greets as part of the Genie+ service. So, at Disneyland, guests can now get up close to their favorites to get hugs, high fives, and autographs for the first time since the pandemic began in 2020. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/13/disneyland-wont-use-genie-for-character-meet-and-greet-photo-ops/ For those of you who like spoilers, the Disney Parks Blog posted a preview of the Main Street Electrical Parade, along with footage of the new float. Along with the new float for the finale, the drum sign that Mickey rides on has also been updated with “50 Years,” noting the 50th anniversary of the classic parade. The reimagined “To Honor America” float looks great with the new Mary Blair inspired Disney characters and fits right in with the rest of the parade. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/first-look-at-the-new-grand-finale-in-the-main-street-electrical-parade-debuting-april-22-at-disneyland-park/ MiceChat had some eyes in the skies recently that gives us some insight on the progress being made in Mickey's Toontown! We have the article linked in the show notes showing that Chip and Dale's Treehouse has been removed, and all of the paving, along with the two fountains in the land have been removed. The gazebo in front of the City Hall in Toontown has also been taken down. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Tarzan's Treehouse has been under scrims since last September when it abruptly closed to guests. Disney had not addressed why this was, until this week. The current plan for the attraction, which has stood in Adventureland since 1962, is to remove the entrance to the attraction which blocks guest flow, and to eventually re-theme it to something else. MiceChat speculated one of the options would be back to the Swiss Family Robinson since Disney+ was working on a series based on the classic, but our sources say that series has been put on hold for now. Another option is theming it to Encanto. We will keep you updated when we have more solid information on what it will transform into. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/18/disneyland-to-give-tarzans-treehouse-a-new-theme/ One of the most iconic songs from the Disney Parks has been inducted into the Library of Congress. “it's a small world” was first heard on the attraction at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. The fair had the theme of “Peace Through Understanding,” which fits right in with the attraction that was moved to Disneyland after the fair ended. The song was one of 25 recordings “worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation's recorded sound heritage.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/14/disneylands-iconic-its-a-small-world-song-inducted-into-library-of-congress-music-registry/ The Magic Key Terrace continues its transformation slowly. New chandeliers and lighting has been installed, along with faux stained glass, a new fountain, wrought-iron fixtures, and more. The theme is highly inspired by peacocks for the interior, covered portion, and by cats on the exterior portion. Overall, this is a nice improvement to the area and makes it feel more welcoming. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Scaffolding has come down from around Stage 12 in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area of Disney California Adventure. The building has been repainted and a meet and greet for Goofy has been placed here for the Food and Wine Festival. This was the area where Captain Marvel's airplane and meet and greet was previously located. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Fans of Disney Pixar's Turning Red have a lot of merchandise options around the parks. Some of the items that are available include a Turning Red Minnie Ear set, some amazingly comfy looking slippers, plushes and more. Some of the most popular items like the 4*Town band shirts have sold out, but will hopefully return in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/319350-disneyland-merchandise-update-stitch-toys/ When Disneyland closed in 2020, the Disney Parks YouTube channel posted a video of the Magic Happens parade.
