Only one of them remains and it changed ownership many times over the years. There were deaths on the property and people took to calling this the murder house.  It very well might be a real life haunted mansion. Last week, the Bottle Bill coalition held a press conference to announce the results of our statewide survey, which found that the large majority of stores that sell Bottle Bill-covered beverages do not post the legally required "Bottle Bill of Rights" sign. These signs are meant to alert consumers that they can take back the covered beverages they purchased there for their nickel return. Two arrests were made outside of the Governor's Mansion in Albany, Monday morning, after Bottle Bill protestors dumped a truckload of cans and bottles at the gate. Employees from bottle redemption centers across the state gathered to dump the multiple days' worth of waste. They are seeking an increase in the handling fee as well as increasing the nickel deposit to a time. The secret to growing from a defeat is being able to cull the appropriate lessons from the multitude of offerings of analysis. Such is the story of Virginia's GOP and the defeats suffered State-wide and in the House of Delegates. One rule of thumb is to seek out people with first-hand experience during the defeat because they might often have real direct experience with where “the train started to come off the rails.”  Such is the story of Scott Pio, he is the Loudon County GOP chair. Glenn Youngkin's gains in his county helped propel him to the Governors' Mansion in 2021. Now he's demanding leadership changes within the statewide party and we sit down with him to talk about what he wants to see happen and what he's prepared to do if it doesn't change. We got to chat about ALL THINGS C-TOWN including, but not limited to: The Orphans, May Fete, the Thunderbird, Violin Anne, the 1947 Mine Disaster, Copple's Mansion, the Perrine House & Perrine's Orchard! We laugh, we cry, we SCREAM - this episode is a lot of things. This was one of the most special weekends of our lives and that's all because of the people of Centralia. FED us (thank you Simply Soul LLC!) rented us a place to stay (thank you Mallory Fisk!) lent us some audio visual equipment and bought tickets and came out to see our show. We were floored! This show was meant to be a CELEBRATION of Centralia and I do believe we accomplished our goal. I feel closer to my hometown than ever before... and maybe a little more creeped out by it.
