April/2018 - We welcome Suicide Girls Founder Missy Suicide & the amazing performers of Blackheart Burlesque, their kickass roadshow that must be seen to believed with Host/MC Sunny Suicide, Choreographer Liryc & more. We also have new music from DK-Zero & so much more, don't miss this one! You can also subscribe on Itunes for free here - http://t.co/YcNBCHJQTj   Missy Suicide Since launching Suicide Girls, Missy has become a voice for the culture on sexuality outside of what mainstream media is reporting. She has been interviewed on issues relating to music, the internet, pop culture and body image on numerous radio stations and in publications such as the New York Times, Wired, Spin and Elle and appeared on Showtime, HBO, CBS, and Fox News.  Sunny Holiday If ever such a thing existed that someone was actually born to do this, meaning to perform liberatingly naked (or close to it) & celebrating freedom of sexuality it would be Sunny. If you've ever been lucky enough to be in the rare presence of a woman that just somehow exuded sex just by breathing, you know what I'm talking about. And even then, chances are, she didn't look like Sunny. This girl just IS sexiness - Described for her first encounter with SG - She appeared at one of these shows as a patron, got up onstage during the "audience participation" portion a few years ago in NYC. And when this happens there is an almost zero chance the attendee is gonna be fearless enough to bare any skin to would warrant an NSFW tag. In Sunny's case, at that initial show she took ALL of her clothes off & never left. We are all the better for this decision. Liryc  The song and dance routines are performed back to back, and fluidly transitioned with the signal of the stage lights dimming. The girls from the last song run off stage, and then more girls file onto the stage for the next song before the lights turn up again. Then it just become one big hot cosplay party that included homages to Star Wars, Stranger Things. Black Panther, The Fifth Element & more (all accompanied by the corresponding theme songs) most blessed into reality thanks to their amazing choregrapher Liryc who also performs in the show.   Music: In this episode we bring you new music from Cosplayer Extroidinaire Kato & her band DK-Zero & a new band from Texas Secrecies   Secrecies

For sixteen years SuicideGirls.com has been breaking boundaries and setting standards for online communities, representation, and pop culture relevance. It’s also provided a safe space for beautiful women with tattoos and piercings to express themselves.   The Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque touring show has become a phenomenon in its own right, creating a forum for performance that brings the concepts of the website – pop culture, freedom of expression, and appreciation of diversity – to live audiences.   In this episode, Dave talks to the one that started it all – Missy Suicide – about the history of the site and how it has evolved over the years.   Listen in as Dave and Missy talk business, creativity, and freedom in the newest episode of the Needless Things Podcast!   Be sure to join the Needless Things Podcast Facebook Group and get in on the conversation for this week’s episode! What can one say about Suicide Girls? The world-renowned iconic and iconoclastic collective of ever-growing young women who champion their inner and outer beauty in the most unique fashion while being at the same time totally embracing of their un-fashionability. There's plenty more wonderful contradictions ahead with our episode involving the proud mama of the Suicide Girls bunch, Missy Suicide, who speaks with us about how being a misfit or outsider can sometimes be pretty damn sexy. In the process, we'll discuss how nerds and geeks have become so hot (in more ways than one) over the past two decades and what Suicide Girls may have had to do with it (especially when we consider one of their last photography collections, GEEKOLOGY.)

Missy Suicide is a badass, if you can’t tell by the name. She’s the owner of the world’s largest collection of naked goth chicks. More accurately, she’s co-founder of Suicide Girls, a community of over 20 million people that is redefining beauty not only through glamorous portraits of unclothed women who often don’t fit traditional definitions of beauty, but through candid and supportive discussion of topics spanning the complexity of modern life. As she puts it, "We felt like this was place that people who felt outside the norm could come hang out and have as their home online... and you're likely to create cool things and meet amazing people and change your life. We had the grand vision of it being something that people could use to come together." Missy came by the Rebel Radio studios to give us some insight into how she’s built a brand that touches so many people in such powerful ways. She explains how she’s learned to balance ignoring the haters with gathering valuable information from her community, and why it’s so important for her to be a member of the community, not just the owner. We also get some insight into the pros and cons of hiring from within the community. Hope you like it. Leave us a review here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/rebel-radio/id1009565465?mt=2

Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon.  This week we take a more grown up look at San Diego Comic Con with our Alternative Preview Night. Sure, you could spend your whole day making it into the one single Episode 7 panel in the infamous Hall H - and behold as Grim and Marke walk you through the mammoth task that it shall be! - but why not take an alternative approach and see what other treasures lie in wait in this year's Gaslamp Quarter? From the alt press booths like our old friends from Devastorpress.com Amanda Meadows, Geoffrey Golden, and Patrick Baker, author of Devastator's newest book A Presidential Dickerbook (we chat with them all about the book and the Con and playing with stickers), to the independent documentary premeires like Byrd McDonald's Vintage Tomorrows, an introspective look at the growing steampunk culture (we talk to Byrd about the movement and get him excited for the glorious steampunk wonders he's sure to see at his first SDCC), all the way to the House of Blues for a fan-fueled night of sexy burlesque from The SuicideGirls (Suicide Girls co-founder Missy Suicide tells us why they trust the Con crowd to help shape the show), so get out of line for Hall H and have look around!
