The conversation covers his multiple musical projects including Zakk Sabbath, his near-joining of Guns N' Roses in the 90s, and his participation in the historic Back to the Beginning festival. JJO's Discover New Music Podcast

You gotta have the cake first...but the icing is pretty damn good too! This week's guest on Discover New Music is the legendary Zakk Wylde. In between cracking jokes, Wylde broke down creating the latest Black Label Society album "Engines of Destruction" with a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants approach. Make a pot of coffee and work on a riff. Go on a food run and work out some lyrics. Well it worked and now we have the first new BLS record since '21. Wylde also shares a sweet story about Ozzy that you won't want to miss. As always a quick round of Rapid Fire is played...in a very diplomatic fashion.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today I'm diving into Black Label Society's 1919 Eternal — one of Zakk Wylde's heaviest, darkest, and most personal albums.Often overshadowed by later releases, 1919 Eternal carries real emotional weight. The album title comes from the year Zakk Wylde's father was born, and this record is widely seen as a tribute to him — giving the album a depth that goes far beyond skulls, riffs, and biker imagery. In this video, I break down:• The meaning behind 1919 Eternal• The album's sound and influences• A full track-by-track breakdown• Why this record still matters in the Black Label Society catalogueIf you're into metal album deep dives, classic records, and honest reviews, you're in the right place.⸻

S9E3 went out live from the TSORR Studio on Myoli Beach on 15 January 2026 at 19h00 on Bulldogs Radio.  It was a tough show; you shouldn't notice listening to the podcast, but it was a technical challenge with the station cutting out every couple of minutes and massive latency of 3-5 minutes.  Rock and Metal Time Machine continues to get great support on the show, and the momentum is building on the Diabolical Challenge. We're now taking votes on the Story of Rock and Roll Central poll and on the TSORR Facebook page.  On this episode, we got our third album for the playoff in two weeks, Guns N' Roses beat out Metallica, ACDC, and Def Leppard. They'll meet Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, and whoever wins next week.  The challenge played out after Immortals about two-thirds of the way through the show.  There's not a lot of new stuff out, so we're still listening to Alter Bridge and Megadeth from last week.    Please help me have a great year on The Story of Rock and Roll by sharing the links and sharing the show.  It's the 10th anniversary of the book, The Story of Rock and Roll. Sunshine Coast rock outfit Dellacoma are a promotors dream. Brash, skilled, confident and passionate, Dellacoma embody the spirits of rock through the ages, delivering it in a hard rocking package that is fuelled by the silky smooth vocals of frontman Dellacoma Rio.Formed in mid-2014, lead vocalist and namesake, Dellacoma Rio assembled a team of high voltage road warriors to bring his rock n roll vision to the stage. Hitting the road almost immediately the band has now amassed over 500 shows across the USA, United Kingdom, Europe and Australia. With many miles beneath their feet and a wealth of experience in the live arena, it is no surprise that playing live is their strong suit. So far they have played countless clubs, bars and venues as well as sharing larger stages with the likes of Def Leppard, Korn, Linkin Park, Five Finger Death Punch, Noiseworks, Skid Row, Styx, Tesla, Black Label Society, Buckcherry, Winger, Saliva, Drowning Pool and Saving Abel to name a few.And that touring has paid off, driving Dellacoma in a fresh, yet familiar sonic direction that can be heard on the band's third studio album Searching For You In The Darkness which is out today. Having recently returned from yet another successful international assault, Dellacoma have just started a mini run of Australian shows to promote the album, with their enimgmatic frontman joining HEAVY from the road. We start by asking how he is feeling about the release."Yeah, pretty good, man," he enthused. "It feels really good to actually finally have it out. It's definitely been a process and there's been… In hindsight, I probably wish I would have given myself a few more months, but that's always the way. I think you get down to deadline day and there's always bits and pieces that have to be done last minute (laughs)."We ask Dellacoma to dive deeper into the musical side of Searching For You In The Darkness."In writing this album, it was the first time I think that I really approached it from the perspective of, I guess, writing just songs rather than thinking about songs that I necessarily wanted to play live," he measured. "Not saying that I won't play these songs live. I will play as many as I can, but the thought had occurred to me, you know, as I was early in the writing phase, that with this being my third album there's now more material between all three albums plus a few surplus singles than I'm ever going to be able to play in one show. And that kind of unlocked something in my head. It felt like it took off some blinders almost, which was really cool. So we've got a couple of different tracks on here. We've got more of an acoustic-y style ballad in there. We've got probably one of the heavier tracks we've ever done as well."In the full interview, Dellacoma spoke more about the new album, including the different approach to songwriting and how it translated in the music. He talked about the album title and the underlying theme of the music, highlighting the bands musical growth over the three releases. We also talked about life on the road, the current run of dates and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

This week, we're discussing bands that feature rock stars: Supergroups and Offshoots. We once again discuss how a band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. Join us as we delve into some of the lesser-known supergroups and offshoots that didn't achieve huge mainstream success or lasted for very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members, along with Offshoots, which are bands that contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. We hope that we turn you on to something new.Songs this week include:Chrome Division – “Till The Break Of Dawn” from Doomsday Rock'n'Roll (2006)Mother's Army – “Dreamtime” from Mother's Army (1993)Captain Beyond – “Mesmirization Eclipse” from Captain Beyond (1972)Army Of Anyone – “Father Figure” from Army Of Anyone (2006)Dream Evil - “Save Us” from Dragonslayer (2002)Levee Walkers – “All Things Fade Away (feat. SWEET & LYNCH is a brand new band centered around the talents of guitarist/vocalist Michael Sweet of Christian hard rockers STRYPER and iconic guitarist George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, ex DOKKEN) along with bassist James Lomenzo (ex MEGADETH, WHITE LION, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Brian Tichy (ex WHITESNAKE).“SWEET & LYNCH was born as the brainchild of Serafino Perugino, President of Frontiers Music”, recalls Sweet. “He asked me to basically sing on this record and then I suggested producing it and co-wrote the songs with George”, continues the singer. Brian Tichy and James Lomenzo were then called in to complete the lineup. Now a complete a band, plans are being formulated to rehearse and book a tour to play the music included on this amazing debut album “Only to Rise” to the fans in a live setting.“It's an incredible combination of classic 70's and 80's”, tells Michael Sweet. “You will hear some flavors of Journey, Bad Company, Dokken, Van Halen and Stryper. James and Brian are amazing musicians. They tore it up. The drums and bass are just as impressive as the guitars. Everybody really delivered... The musicianship level on this is top notch. It sounds as if we were all in the studio playing together and we were not. Basically, George wrote some riffs about a minute to a minute and a half long. I wrote lyrics and melodies then arranged them. Then Brian and James came out and tracked the drums and bass, as well as some rhythm stuff. We then sent it back to George to add the guitars."The combination of Sweet's powerful, crystal clear vocals and Lynch's unmatched guitar tone, provide the force and drive that the album needed. The result is truly a “state of the art” Hard Rock album, with fabulous melodies played to perfection. An absolute must for all fans of Sweet and Lynch's musical stylings!SWEET & LYNCHMichael Sweet – lead vocals, guitarsGeorge Lynch – lead guitarsJames Lomenzo – bass guitarBrian Tichy - drumsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Zakk Wylde Says "Pick Every Note!"

From Ozzy Osbourne to Black Label Society to Zakk Sabbath to, most recently, his stint filling in for his old friend “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott in Pantera, Zakk Wylde has left an unmistakable mark on the hard-rock and metal music worlds. Fresh off performing “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Cleveland Browns game in October, and paying homage to his boss Ozzy at the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Wylde joins this episode of Shred With Shifty to share his teachings from the book of rock. When he was learning to play, Wylde studied Frank Marino, Al Di Meola, and John McLaughlin along with Sabbath shredder Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, and “King Edward”—Eddie Van Halen—but Osbourne's original right-hand guitar-man Randy Rhoades was top of the crop. Little did Wylde know he'd go on to replace him after his tragic death, following up the work of Rhoades, Brad Gillis, and Jake E. Lee. He got to join his favorite band, but it wasn't an easy gig. “What's expected of you as an Ozzy player?” says Wylde. “The bar that Randy set was lights out.” After a quick pinch-harmonics tutorial, Wylde lays out how he used a Marshall JCM800 and Boss SD-1 with his “holy grail” bullseye Gibson Les Paul Custom to track the alternate-picking intensive on “Miracle Man,” a mix of “ingredients” from all the players Wylde loves. (“Pass the Ritchie Blackmore, boss!”) For those thinking of skimping and swapping in some hammer-ons and pull-offs, Shifty warns: “There are no shortcuts! Pick every note!” Along the way, Wylde discusses the inner workings of his tenure with Osbourne, including being the longest-running player in the group—like “working at the deli,” according to Wylde. And tune in to hear about Wylde's relationship to Ozzy's wife and manager Sharon Osbourne, who he refers to as “mom”—a role she performed well when she busted him at a nightclub while he was underage.
