Is it okay for a Christian to use strong language? Today, our call-out goes to David Garrett from Pasadena, MD. Thanks for your support! I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves! — Galatians 5:12 There are a few times in Scripture where we encounter very strong language. This is one of those accounts, if not the most vivid of all accounts. But I would contest: this is not categorically strong language. It's extreme hyperbole (or exaggeration) that leaves room for imagination. Paul is doing something strategic. He is working out their logic. Paul, seasoned at debate, is playing out their theory regarding circumcision. In other words, if these people so adamantly support circumcision because they believe it will enhance a believer's experience, why just trim it up; cut that thing off. Paul intends to illustrate the absurd nature of this religious ritual. If circumcision could have enhanced their relationship with God, then there would have been no need for Jesus. However, if it could by some means improve their relationship with God, why not cut the whole thing off? The progression of this logic suggests they would be even more holy. I would put to task people who suggest it's okay because this text does not give us permission to curse. But if we were to emulate what Paul did here, it would permit us to play out flawed logic from woke teachers and use hyperbole to illustrate it that might be graphic and vivid. But Paul is not permitting us to curse. In fact, this same man wrote other letters instructing believers to do the opposite. I have included those texts below. So, to all my brothers who served in the military or spent time in prison and learned the F-word was a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb, you might want to find some more edifying words. Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. — Ephesians 4:29 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. — Ephesians 5:4 #ChristianLanguage #TongueTaming #SacredSpeech #WordsOfLife #GracefulCommunication ASK THIS: How can we balance authenticity and reverence in our speech, especially when faced with situations that might provoke strong emotions? Reflect on a time when you've been tempted to use strong language. How could applying the principles of Ephesians 4:29 and 5:4 have changed the outcome of that situation? DO THIS: Adjust those unedifying words. PRAY THIS: Lord, help me to guard my tongue and use my words to build up others, reflecting Your love and grace in all my communication. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to You, my Rock and my Redeemer. Amen. PLAY THIS: I Speak Jesus.

If you want to know how, why and what to compost this is a must-listen. David, our head of knowledge transfer at Garden Organic, shares the reasons he loves compost, and talks through the different composting systems at our organic demonstration garden, and how to use them. “We're producing kitchen waste at home so why not process it ourselves and produce compost? It's a circular economy in our own homes,” says David. “We're taking ownership of the waste and not relying on someone else to deal with it for us.” Also in this episode… Chris and Fiona chat about what to sow and plant now and how to care for winter ponds.

This month, DG Podcast host Sarah Willis catches up with star-violinist David Garrett. The main topic is, of course, David's recently released album ‘Iconic', which was inspired by iconic Golden Age violinists such as Heifetz and Kreisler, who influenced David so much as a child. David also talks about his guest collaborators on the album who include Andrea Bocelli and Itzhak Perlman. And what is coming up next for David? Find out on this podcast!
How do digital corks allow winemakers to participate in the resale of their wines among collectors? What are tasting tokens, and what exciting new experiences do they offer both winemakers and consumers? What new trends and technologies will impact the wines you drink in the future? In this episode of the Unreserved Wine Talk podcast, I'm interviewing David Garrett, the co-founder of a global non-fungible token (NFT) wine club, Club dVIN. You can find the wines we discussed at https://www.nataliemaclean.com/winepicks Giveaway Three of you are going to win a personally signed copy of David Garrett's gorgeous book, The Winemakers of Paso Robles. This Californian wine region produces amazing wines. How to Win To qualify, all you have to do is email me at natalie@nataliemaclean.com and tell me that you'd like to win the book. I'll select the winners randomly from those who participate. Good luck! Highlights How does NFC technology increase the detailed provenance data available for wine? How do digital corks allow winemakers to participate in value creation in the aftermarket? What are tasting tokens, and what exciting new opportunities do they provide for connecting winemakers and consumers? How does NFT technology make it significantly easier to track down wine counterfeiters? What makes Club dVIN's process more environmentally friendly? How have NFTs been used to raise millions for charity in collaboration with renowned wine critic Robert Parker? Why is 2019 Château Cos D'estournel David's go-to wine? Key Takeaways I love the idea that winemakers can participate in the profit from reselling their wines via digital corks. It's very similar to painters and other artists who should be able to accrue some of the value in secondary markets like auctions. Tasting tokens provide some exciting new experiences for winemakers and consumers to connect more deeply. I enjoyed David's discussion of other new trends and technologies that will impact the wines we drink in the future. Are you curious about how blockchain technology will transform how you buy and collect wine? How do non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, play a role? How can blockchain technology help to prevent counterfeit wines? In this episode of the Unreserved Wine Talk podcast, I'm interviewing David Garrett, the co-founder of a global non-fungible token (NFT) wine club, Club dVIN. You can find the wines we discussed at https://www.nataliemaclean.com/winepicks Highlights Why did David make the move from tech to wine? How did the unique private vineyard estate program at the Vines of Mendoza operate? Where does the biggest problem with counterfeit wine lie? How does blockchain technology help to disincentivize counterfeit wines? What is a blockchain and how does it help to clarify provenance? What's the relationship between cryptocurrency and a blockchain? What are non-fungible tokens (NFTs)? How do you create an NFT for a bottle of wine? What are the benefits of NFTs for wine? Key Takeaways David had such a clear and concrete way of explaining how blockchain technology will transform how you buy and collect wine? I also liked his comparisons to buying land or a house with non-fungible tokens, or NFTs. I was glad to hear that blockchain technology may help prevent counterfeit wines. Burn Bans issued for surrounding counties, expected for Conway County; Downtown mural dedicated Tuesday; Homecoming Parade set for Friday; Senator suspended for making complaint; ATU ranked by US News and World Report; Stricklen considered for Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame; we visit with David Garrett of the Plumerville Homecoming Committee.
Insgesamt also ein hübsches Durcheinander an Emotionen! Du möchtest mehr über unsere Werbepartner erfahren? The U.S. has witnessed unprecedented increases in job openings and, subsequently, a tight labor market. The economy saw a sharp post-Covid recovery last year, however, in recent months, high inflation and ensuing policy tightening has lowered growth forecasts and caused many to expect a fall in the creation of jobs. Indeed, the economy contracted at an annual rate of 0.9% in the three months to July. Yet July also saw 528,000 new jobs as the unemployment rate fell to 3.5%! So what's going on? Should we be worried or are things actually looking pretty good for the remainder of this year and 2023? In this HRchat episode, we take a lens to the US economy and labor market and ask "are we talking ourselves into a recession?" Our guest today is David Garrett, Customer Success Manager and Economic Researcher at Joveo. David is also one of the key architects of Joveo's new U.S. Labor Market Forecast: Economic Impact on Talent Demand Across Industries and Occupations.Questions For David Include:The US economy has shrunk for the second quarter in a row, a milestone that in many countries would be considered an economic recession. The contraction, at an annual rate of 0.9% in the three months to July, has drawn widespread attention as worries about the economy grow. Should we be worried? What is a technical recession? The July 2022 US Jobs report showed Payrolls actually increased by 528,000! How is this potential recession different from previous incarnations Given there's nothing fundamentally 'wrong' with the US economy, are we 'talking ourselves into a recession'? How are/should HR pros and leaders prepare for a downturn? Will some jobs remain in demand even if a recession does hit? If so, which ones? How is Joveo helping customers prepare for a potential recession?About David GarrettDavid holds a BA in Economics and Philosophy, and a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. His passion for labor economics and mechanism design led him to the programmatic advertising space, where he solves real-world problems for his clients through a combination of market analysis, and consultation.
