Justin Herbert and the Chargers punching a playoff ticket continues loaded postseason field of young franchise QBs | Jay Gruden joins the show to discuss the latest in the NFL | Not much to celebrate with Nick Foles and the Colts
Designed to help DFS enthusiasts reflect on the previous week as they evaluate their play, host BFritz12 examines several topics in this weeks pod: - Should you have played Joe Mixon? - An important note about the NFL - Not playing Ekeler was... good process?
The guys review week 1 in the NFL-Not a good week for our favorite teams (Bengals, Jags and Packers all fall); plus we review a number of upsets (Bears beat 49ers, Giants beat Titans, and Seahawks beat Broncos.)
On this episode of the Homespun Yak, the guys start out by discussing some relevant news - The Inauguration of Joseph ROBINETTE Biden Jr. It's been only 1 week since he was sworn in, yet he is already "on notice!" for not "doing enough" for social justice and change according to some "very reasonable" folks in the media. It just highlights the fact that no matter who sits in the Oval Office, their actions and words will never satisfy all. The dudes then move on to their recent Birthdays which are 10 days apart in the month of January. Kyle celebrated by renting out a theater and watching the timeless classic, "The Big Lebowski". This "pandemic friendly" option that theaters are providing is right up his alley, as he typically hates sharing a packed theater with commoners who text/talk/distract throughout the duration of a film. Next, they share their thoughts on two heist stories! The first actually occurred earlier this month in the heart of Burgundy where thieves made off with $425,000 worth of grand cru wines from a famous hotel in the region. A high speed "Mario Kart" style chase ensues... This inspires Kyle to follow up with the wild tale of the Pappy Van Winkle Heist which took place in 2013 and involves 9 individuals (including a local cop). Bourbon, steroids, marijuana and more are all intertwined in this one, so don't miss it! Finally, the lads round out the podcast by discussing the NFC and AFC Championship games and their feelings on how the Super Bowl between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs will play out on Feb 7th. At 43 years old, Tom Brady will be making his 10th Super Bowl appearance in his career with a chance for a 7th win! Nic's take on whether or not we'll see a more accomplished quarterback ever again in the NFL: "Not only will we never see another quarterback as prolific and dominant as Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr., but we shall never again see a figure so dashing, a man so graceful. His ability to will a losing franchise to a Super Bowl by beating the likes of Aaron Rogers and Drew Brees on the road will go down as one of the most inspirational feats in sports history, nay human history! I have been a witness to greatness time and time again throughout the course of my life, but the otherworldly wonder of Tom Brady never ceases to bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. I owe this man a great debt for being a guiding light of joy throughout my life and will do my best to repay him by sharing his story and wholeheartedly dedicating my mind and body to the TB12 program." On today's episode, Kevin Bowen is back as What If Week continues on with a new scenario. What if Andrew Luck never retired from the NFL? Not only does it change the fortunes for Colts football, but Luck's legacy continues to grow nationally. Luck carried one of the worst roster in football to three straight 11-5 seasons his first three years in Indy. However, when he initially injured his shoulder in 2015, it was the first seed planted to what eventually happened in August, 2019. How would the Colts have done in 2019-20, and throughout this decade with Luck under center? With Chris Ballard and Frank Reich aboard, it's fair to say Luck goes on to have massive success. Bowen mentions Luck likely wins at least one Super Bowl and MVP, if he continued on with the current roster surrounding him. This is a massive what if scenario, and one that would have changed everything for Indianapolis. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
