The Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl XV in a snoozefest, but which teams from the AFC and NFC will feel like they missed their chance to lift the Lombardi Trophy? Frank thinks it will be a long time until the New England Patriots make it back to the AFC Championship game, and Eddie isn't sure that Kenneth Walker III was the right choice for Super Bowl MVP. Plus, Eddie is enjoying the Winter Olympics more than he thought he would, Manchester City sneak past Liverpool after a thrilling final 15 minutes, and 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' might be the best Game of Thrones TV depiction yet.
0:00 - How many CU players will be at the NFL Combine this year? Take a second...think of a guess...think of a number...here's the answer: zero. Not a single CU football player was invited to the combine. For a head coach who touts his ability to find Louis and Gucci in the portal, the data would suggest otherwise. Again, this begs the question: heading into Year 4 at CU, what are reasonable expectations for Neion Deion and his $10 mil/year salary?15:58 - The Avalanche and Nuggets are both squarely in championship or bust windows. But what about the Broncos? If they don't reach the AFC Championship again next year, is it a disappointment? Or would you be okay with that because they "overperformed" this year?26:34 - Oh, by the way...both CU and K-State Men's Basketball got blown out of the water by Texas Tech and Cincinnati (respectively). Both head coaches were frustrated with their team after the game. Understandably so. Also, by the way, they love punting in Australia ESPECIALLY in the Super Bowl.

In Episode 6 of Allegedly Sports, M|M and Tom Schneider react to a wild championship weekend, Super Bowl implications, and the bigger questions shaping the NFL and NBA right now. The conversation blends game breakdowns, coaching decisions, league philosophy, and legacy — staying true to the show's commitment to honest, context-driven sports talk. The episode opens with a breakdown of the AFC Championship, where the Patriots punch their ticket to another Super Bowl. M|M and Tom debate style vs. substance, why winning ugly still matters, and how playoff football often comes down to weather, defense, and situational decision-making. The discussion highlights Denver's fourth-down gamble, Sean Payton's questionable call with a backup quarterback, and how one decision can swing an entire game. From there, the focus shifts to the NFC Championship, a dramatic matchup between the Rams and Seahawks. M|M and Tom analyze late-game execution, fourth-down choices, two-point conversion timing, and the fine margins that decide playoff games. They also discuss elite wide receiver play, defensive discipline, taunting penalties, and the broader issue of officiating consistency in high-leverage moments. The conversation then moves into the NFL coaching carousel, including reactions to recent firings and hires, ownership behavior, and how organizations often mishandle transitions. M|M and Tom debate whether coaching changes truly move the needle, how quarterbacks are judged unfairly by team outcomes, and why stability still matters — even in a win-now league. Quarterback legacy becomes a major theme, with a deep dive into how Super Bowl appearances factor into greatness, why rings alone don't define a career, and how narratives often oversimplify complex situations. The discussion includes comparisons across eras and the reality that timing, health, and organizational competence all play massive roles in quarterback success. The episode closes on the NBA side with reflections on Derrick Rose Night in Chicago. M|M shares firsthand experience from the ceremony, while both hosts reflect on Rose's legacy, injuries, relationship with the city, and Hall of Fame case. The conversation expands into how basketball culture has evolved, the rise of high school stars in the YouTube era, and why some players matter beyond box scores and championships. As always, the episode blends sharp analysis, respectful disagreement, and perspective rooted in actually watching the games. Topics Covered AFC Championship recap and Super Bowl implications Winning ugly vs. winning with style Sean Payton's fourth-down decision-making Weather, defense, and playoff football realities Rams vs. Seahawks NFC Championship breakdown Fourth-down and two-point conversion philosophy Taunting penalties and officiating consistency NFL coaching carousel and ownership influence Evaluating quarterbacks beyond Super Bowl rings Narrative vs. reality in legacy discussions Derrick Rose Night and Chicago sports culture Injuries, longevity, and Hall of Fame standards NBA star power, fit, and modern team-building

Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez were mic'd up during the AFC Championship game in Denver and from the encouragement from Vrabel and McDaniels to the silence of Gonzo, New England made themselves more likeable.
As each day passes with Drake Maye still limited in practice, the concern rises about his shoulder injury. How much longer until it becomes a full panic and should we be nervous when it gets to Super Bowl week? Then, Mike Dussault from Patrits.com joins the show to talk all things Pats including the aggressive identity traveling with them to Santa Clara in the Super Bowl. And, relive some of the best moments from the AFC Championship through the Pats' mic'd up videos.
Mike contemplates the hierarchy of American attention, contrasting the 50 million eyes on the AFC Championship game with the obscurity of the men leading the "Metro Surge" in Minnesota. Then, Ruy Teixeira (The Liberal Patriot) and Jesse Adams (The Ivy Exile) join for Not Even Mad. The panel debates whether the chaos in Minnesota is a strategic "theater" of enforcement or a policy failure that's alienating the very public that requested it. They also dissect Trump's Davos "Greenland" rhetoric—is it a serious expansionist play for America's 250th anniversary, or just a loud way to bully NATO into paying up? Plus, a blizzard of "Goat Grinders" covering the Dodgers' billions, the "black Jewish" reboot of Blue Bloods, and the pharmaceutical ads keeping broadcast TV alive. Recorded: January 26th 2026 | On this weeks Monday NFL Recap, Taylor is hitting this one by himself with help from the boys in the back. The boys recap the NFC and AFC Championship games from this past weekend. The first game was the New England Patriots traveling out to the Denver Broncos. The biggest question going into this game was how backup quarterback, Jarrett Stidham, was going to play. He ended up not playing that bad but the weather became more of an issue. The snow had a massive factor in that game which may have been why Drake Maye only threw for 86 yards. Taylor breaks down the game and how Mike Vrabel's coaching was an x-factor. Then the boys get into the NFC Championship where the Los Angeles Rams traveled up to the Seattle Seahawks for a rubber match between the division foes. This game was high flying with points being scored everywhere. Taylor believes that Sam Darnold has officially put the haters to rest as he threw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a massive game is basically unstoppable. Finally the boys give their Super Bowl predictions, the bus is divided on who they are riding with. Le us know in the comments who you are taking. Enjoy fellas. Stoney (in for Valenti) and Rico share their thoughts on Patriots-Broncos and Rams-Seahawks.
Stoney and Rico do a "Can We Say That?" centered around championship weekend and other major NFL storylines.
The moment that flipped the game. Sean Payton's 4th down decision near the goal line looms large as the Broncos never score again. Evan, Tiki, and Sean react to Payton's explanation, dissect the play call, and debate whether aggression made sense with a backup quarterback and points at a premium. Listener calls weigh in on old-school football, weather chaos, and whether that 4th down choice still looks defensible once the snow took over.
Evan, Tiki, and Shaun unpack a jam-packed Championship Monday that spirals from weather chaos to franchise regret. The show opens with the AFC Championship turning into a snow-covered throwback and whether that kind of football should decide a title. From there, the guys debate Sean Payton's 4th down decision, Sam Darnold reaching the Super Bowl, and which franchises should feel the most pain. The Steelers shock the league by breaking decades of tradition with a Mike McCarthy hire, igniting Aaron Rodgers speculation and questions about the future of coaching stability. Along the way, the Pro Bowl loses all remaining credibility, MLB drops a bizarre video game announcement, and Jets fans descend into full existential dread while the Patriots once again seem to benefit from the football gods. Timestamps: 00:00 – Championship Sunday chaos, snow football, and whether weather should decide titles 21:00 – Sean Payton's 4th down decision and how the game flipped 44:00 – Sam Darnold to the Super Bowl and ranking which teams regret him most 1:18:00 – Cinco de Luncho: Sam Darnold regret list sparks Jets vs Vikings war 1:58:00 – Steelers hire Mike McCarthy and completely abandon their historic model 2:32:00 – Aaron Rodgers futures, Vikings buzz, and who actually has a quarterback 3:05:00 – Pro Bowl outrage, MLB The Show cover mystery, Jets misery, and why the Patriots always get the breaks
The AFC Championship turned into a full-on weather event, and Evan and Tiki debate whether that chaos made the game unforgettable or completely unwatchable. They break down how the Patriots benefitted once they had the lead, why the second half felt like 1960s football, and whether weather should ever decide a championship. Plus, the poll that perfectly split the audience, the contrast with a beautifully played NFC title game, and the bigger question looming over the NFL. Did the snow make this game legendary, or did it ruin real football?
Evan opens up about a very real debate at home over doing the show from the house, then the conversation takes a hard left into a viral graphic that has people claiming the NFL “told us” back in September it would be Drake Maye vs Sam Darnold. The guys laugh through the conspiracy, point out the other names hidden in the image, and then get right back into the AFC Championship aftermath as callers rip Sean Payton's decision-making and the play call that helped sink Denver. The segment also hits the weather angle, how the Patriots approached the second half, and whether the “cover up” sounded worse than the original decision. Plus, Spence pops in with a prediction, more calls roll in, and the hour tees up Jets and Giants coordinator news and a strange Mets producer story.
Evan can't stop thinking about the AFC Championship turning into a full-blown snow game, and the guys debate whether the weather made it legendary or ruined the product. They break down how the Patriots benefitted once they had the lead, why the second half felt like 1960s football, and whether every stadium should just have a retractable roof. Plus, the Sean Payton decision that changed everything, going for it on 4th-and-1 instead of taking the points, and what a different QB might have meant once the conditions got ugly. Calls roll in, the poll is basically split down the middle, and yes, Evan discovers the meaning of “5280” on the Broncos helmets.
