Recorded live on Dec 3, 2016, one night after the Oakland Ghost Ship fire. Planning the set that day, I found the cognitive dissonance difficult to navigate. How to know what to play when we were all reeling and feeling such loss? How to get in the mindset of being fun? But through the course of the hour of this set, the mood seemed to shift for everyone. It was one of the most magical experiences I've had as a DJ. To gift music and watch as we collectively moved through our emotions and bonded on and off the dance floor. Somber expressions turned to smiles, love, and appreciation for each other, those lost, and who have lost. Music and community is so powerful. Cherish it, celebrate it, and feed it. 01.
