Een maand oktober zonder ramingen over de wereldeconomie is onvoorstelbaar, en dus heeft het IMF het toch aangedurfd om met voorspellingen te komen. ‘Je kunt niet de hele wereld vragen om naar het hoofdkantoor in Washington te komen en vervolgens met niks komen,' zegt macro-econoom Edin Mujagic over een van de wetmatigheden in de financiële wereld. Toch was het verhaal van het IMF niet heel spannend. 'Een groei van 3 procent is wat eerder in het voorjaar ook is gezegd.' Maar als je verder kijkt, is er meer aan de hand. Wat valt er dan op in de voorspellingen? Daarvoor moeten we vooral naar de Verenigde Staten kijken. De ramingen voor de Amerikaanse economie voor zowel dit jaar als volgend jaar zijn omhoog bijgesteld. Het gaat al goed in Amerika en volgens het IMF zal het nog beter gaan, terwijl de ramingen voor de eurozone juist omlaag zijn bijgesteld. Met Duitsland als grote uitschieter; volgens het IMF zal er dit jaar geen economische groei zijn daar. Dat is op zich winst, want daar hebben ze alleen maar te maken met een economie die kleiner en kleiner wordt. Wat zegt het IMF verder over ons eigen continent? Het IMF ziet een heleboel obstakels voor Europa op de weg naar hogere en houdbare groei. Niet alleen uit de VS of uit China, maar gewoon hier bij ons. Als je naar de samenstelling van de economie kijkt, zie je dat de dienstensector veruit het grootste deel van de economie uitmaakt. En in dat deel hebben we eigenlijk niet echt een interne, echte Europese markt zonder regels. Als Europa daar al stappen in zou zetten, ontsluit je toch heel veel potentieel voor jezelf. Alleen om een of andere reden weigeren we dat te doen, en dan kom je in zulke ramingen als die van het IMF er gewoon heel bekaaid vanaf. De Amerikaanse economie doet het al beter dan de onze, en die zal het dit en volgend jaar nog beter gaan doen dan wij. In hoeverre spelen de verkiezingen een rol bij de IMF-ramingen? Niet alleen in de VS, maar ook bij ons wordt gestemd. Het IMF benadrukt dan ook dat ruim de helft van de wereldbevolking dit jaar heeft gestemd of nog gaat stemmen. En dat betekent dat je hier en daar een nieuwe regering krijgt met nieuw beleid. Kijk maar naar Nederland. Ook bij ons heeft de nieuwe regering het voorgenomen beleid gewijzigd of aangekondigd dat er in de voornemens wordt geschrapt. Als je het op mondiaal niveau bekijkt, gaat meer dan de helft van de bevolking stemmen, met overal nieuwe regeringen tot gevolg. Dat schept onzekerheid, want onduidelijk is welk beleid hier en daar gevoerd gaat worden. De groeivooruitzichten voor de komende vijf jaar zijn echter slechter dan voor het komende jaar. Dat geeft aan dat de wereldeconomie, en onderdelen daarvan, in toenemende mate stevige tegenwind gaat krijgen. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan demografie, de lage productiviteitsstijging en tegenvallende investeringen. Die beloven niet veel goeds voor economische groei op termijn. Maar dit zijn ramingen. Kan het in de praktijk nog heel anders uitpakken? In theorie wel. Het lijstje met opties waardoor het beter zou kunnen gaan, is vrij kort. Het kan natuurlijk zijn dat er allerlei landen in de wereld ineens wel gaan hervormen, dus dat daar een impuls vandaan komt. Een kanttekening daarbij is dat hervormingen economische groei op termijn opleveren, dus niet meteen dit of volgend jaar. En als er nou om een van de redenen veel meer geïnvesteerd gaat worden, zou dat groei aanjagen. Maar gezien de stemming in veel landen en de hoge rente is dat niet heel logisch. Surface...The writers seemed to half way show up for episode 9 of #STDiscovery. The tech and applied science was out of this world! Literally.  It just seems that there are more stories to tell from #discovery because this is the prequel that got pushed forward to the future. I think the progenitors technology was co-opted by the Iconians which they could use for more adventures past, present, and future. VPR is on fumes.  Did Diddy Do It? Yep. but as of January 1, 2023, a new California law known as Assembly Bill 2777 (AB 2777) or the Sexual Abuse And Cover-Up Accountability Act may just give Cassie more justice or another settlement. Leslie Jones is still recapping All Stars which is good because I think this season of all stars as they compete to get the largest amount of money donated to their charities and #GottMik is slaying!! I have 1- vote. Entertainers do not speak for me. I base my opinions on actual facts gleaned from books,  newspapers and not what is trending or going viral on social media. Withholding endorsements punishes society causes politicians to pander and kiss morning show asses instead of actually doing work to better society. If politicians would focus on being about the work like student loan forgiveness, keeping government out of our uterus, border issues, pandemic responsiveness, environmental issues. instead of giving lip service, sound bites, and catch phrases. We have people like Amber Rose using their platform for attention and infamy in support of another former reality star who is loyal only to power and money. The other guy cares nothing about society, democracy, or anything passed his bank balance. Also, she using Trump so she can support her own transphobia and although he is a dangerous despot, he still is trending on social media and she wants to ride the wave.   And I've also decided that I'm gonna do four-week increments and I'm taking June off.
