After a short 4 years, the SimpleFlight crew was pleased to welcome back Rod Rakic, co-founder of OpenAirplane, Inc., a company focused on bringing pilots, planes, and passengers together. The two "products" promise to increase activity within General Aviation, delivering real value to all stakeholders. Listen in and find out how the company has done over the last 4 years and what changes we might see in the future! =============== We hope you enjoy listening as much as we love talking to others who share our passion for aviation. An interview with OpenAirplane co-founder Rod Rakic, as well as an account of my own OpenAirplane Universal Pilot Checkout at Crosswinds Aviation at Livingston County Airport (KOZW) in Howell, Michigan.
When Rod Rakic of OpenAirplane (openairplane.com) showed the world that aviation insurance companies were willing to accept a new paradigm in renting general aviation aircraft to pilots around the country, it was hailed as a great step forward for G.A. With his recent announcement of making those same aircraft available from individual owners, the industry once again applauds Rod on accelerating the momentum of GA's recovery. Listen to Al and Marc as they learn about the "Collaborative Aircraft Rental" and what it means to owners, pilots, and General Aviation. OpenAirplane is one of many exciting innovators in aviation. But what's it like for a legacy company trying to join the entrepreneurial force that makes up so much of today's headlines. Is it culture, new technologies, or even new twists on old technologies which determines the fate of these investments? And with new technologies, are they cool fads, or do they contribute to aviation safety. Listen in and then let us know what you think. Current events includes Cirrus' announcement of their better than average safety record, which comes after years of being on the wrong side of the average. Also talked about is the movement to Jet A and how Diesel engines are finding their way into legacy trainers, and Mooney funding a new aviation museum with its initial investment coming as a result of auctioning the first aircraft off their recently started production line. As always a great line up, made even more so by your loyal presence.
