POPULARITY
Many people are able to quote the verse: “Many are called, but few are chosen”, but they may not know where to find it in the Bible. And many of those same people like to quote that verse out of context simply because they are either not aware of the context or they don't care about context. So we can be sure to get a LOT of comments by the armchair, or kitchen chair, theologians who have their views on what the text means. But at least by seeing the verse in connection to the parable that Jesus gave preceding it, hopefully they will come to a better understanding of how the CALL goes out to MANY people, but that FEW there are that are CALLED and CHOSEN, and who for that reason are COMPELLED to COME to Christ for Salvation! Is "showing up" enough? The Parable of the Wedding Feast
John explores how the three stories Jesus tells in answer to the question “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?” are not separate unrelated stories, but build on each other. When we read them in this way they offer us another way of hearing today's story as a critique of a common way of understanding the kingdom of heaven. It all goes back to how we end the story about the vineyard He then invites people to reflect on the ending where the landowner forgives the tenants rather than punishing them.
Each year Pastor Scott works with young men in the church. He helps them prepare messages from the last week of Jesus' earthly life leading up to the crucifixion.
Sermon based on Matthew 22:1-14
Overview- The Parable Of The Wedding Feast. Matthew 22:1-14. In our sermon today we studied the last and final parable that Jesus used to respond to the religious leaders upon their confrontation of Him in the temple. In my message today, I cover a several different topics including; #1- The understanding of the parable of the wedding feast, including the consequences for the Jews rejection of God’s path. #2- The U in the Tulip acronym of Calvinism, and #3- The doctrine of replacement theology. Have you ever wondered what message Jesus was giving these religious leaders with this parable, or why the U in the Tulip of Calvinism, and the doctrine of replacement theology is evil, and unbiblical? Well I explain these ideas in quite some detail in this message titled, The Parable Of The Wedding Feast. May God Bless you mightily as you seek Him Pastor Ed
