This sermon challenges the way we think about discipleship, fear, and what it really means to be faithful with what God has entrusted to us.Many Christians are comfortable helping people come to faith — but what happens after that? Nicole explores the difference between making converts and making disciples, and why fear often causes us to “bury” the relationships God has placed in our lives instead of helping them grow. This message is especially for listeners who:Want to grow deeper in Christian discipleshipFeel afraid of sharing faith or “getting it wrong”Carry church hurt or minister to people who doDesire practical, everyday ways to follow Jesus beyond Sunday morningsYou'll hear honest teaching, relatable stories, and a gentle challenge to live as faithful disciple-makers — not perfectly, but faithfully.Whether you're listening on your commute, at the kitchen table, or winding down after a long day, this episode invites you to consider who God has entrusted to you — and how you might take one faithful step toward helping them grow.Linkoln shares his story on why he started coming to Ravenna Church of the Nazarene and shares why you should consider doing the same.Ravenna Church of the Nazarene530 Main Street, Ravenna, KY 40472Support the showThe Dirt Path Sermon Podcast is a place for real sermons that speak to real life. In this episode, Samuel Goulet teaches on biblical faithfulness, emphasizing that our ability to remain steady, obedient, and reliable flows first from God's own faithfulness toward us. Drawing from Habakkuk 2 and the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25), he explains that faithfulness is not driven by emotion or ambition, but by patient trust, endurance, and responsible stewardship of what God has given—whether much or little. Samuel highlights fear as one of the greatest obstacles to faithfulness, showing how fear sabotages obedience and intimacy with God, while perfect love casts it out. The message ultimately calls listeners to resist fear, remain rooted in God's ways rather than cultural pressures, and live lives marked by consistent, weight-bearing faith that reflects the character of Christ.
Fr. Matthias Shehad explores the Parable of the Talents from the Gospel of Matthew, explaining its significance as a teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven. He unpacks how the master entrusts his servants with talents (money) according to their abilities and the varied responses they have—two servants invest and multiply their talents, while one hides his out of fear and laziness. Fr. Matthias discusses the meaning of these talents as God-given gifts and responsibilities, emphasizing that each person is called to use their unique abilities for service and growth in God's kingdom. He highlights how faithfulness and diligence in small tasks lead to greater responsibility and joy in serving the Lord. The parable also warns of judgment for those who neglect their gifts. Through this teaching, Fr. Matthias encourages believers to understand stewardship, courage in service, and the importance of using all God's gifts for His glory and the benefit of others. What does it mean to be a good and faithful servant? Dave catches a key detail in the Parable of the Talents: God doesn't give us all the same amount of talents. God will never give us more than we can handle, while at the same time, God sees something more in us than anyone else ever can, including ourselves! Our goal is to use our talents to glorify the Lord so that we can hear at the end of our lives, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” We want to hear from you! Matthew 25:14-30 In the 24th chapter, verses 5-12, Jesus describes the state of the earth when He returns. He says no one will know the day. Jesus gives parables that show what is needed to prepare for that time. He compares it to a man who goes on a journey and entrusts his possessions to three servants. When the man returns, he blesses the two of them who had increased the possessions and curses the third who had stored it away. Jesus makes it clear that our time on earth should be spent using our finances, possessions and talents to further the Kingdom of God. In a fresh teaching on Jesus' parable of the talents, Pastor Roger discusses "the tragedy of wasted opportunity." The emphasis in this parable is on working, not for our salvation but as evidence of the grace of God in our lives. Tune in as we learn about the responsibility we receive, the reaction we have, the reckoning we face, and the reward we gain as we pursue the call to "be faithful to maximize [our] opportunity" by taking what we've been given and produce a return for the Master. -Featuring Roger Hirth

Matthew 25.
Don't Hide What God Gave YouWhat happens when fear makes you bury the gifts God gave you? In this episode, we break down Jesus' Parable of the Talents and why faithfulness—not perfection—is what matters to God.We're diving into the fourth of Jesus' five parables about His second coming, and this one hits different. It's about a master who entrusts his servants with investments before going on a journey. Two servants double what they're given. One servant? He digs a hole and hides it out of fear.Jesus isn't calling you to be perfect. He's calling you to be faithful with what He's given you—whether that's hospitality, preaching, serving, or loving the people everyone else ignores. This parable shows us that slothfulness isn't just laziness—it's spiritual passivity. It's wanting God without the work. It's playing it safe when Christ never called us to be safe.In this episode:* Why faithfulness matters more than the size of your gift* What it means to be a “good and faithful slave”* How fear and passivity can bury your God-given talents* Why Jesus took the place of the “worthless slave” on the cross* How to identify and invest the gifts God has given YOUAfter the Amen Question: What are the talents God has given you that you need to be more responsible with?

In Matthew 25, Jesus tells a parable about a master who leaves on a trip and trusts hisservants with his finances. On the surface, it's a simple story about stewarding ourresources while we wait for our Master, Jesus, to return. But like all of the parables, there are layers to this simple story. It's actually a revelation about who God really is —a generous Master who wants to help us live our lives to the full in the Kingdom. Jesusteaches us that our resources (financial, physical, relational, spiritual) are stewardshipcapital meant to be leveraged toward higher Kingdom value, not hidden in fear. But like the servant in the story, most of us hang on to our resources because wefalsely believe our wealth and stability are more valuable that the life Jesus offers. Byletting go of our attachment to our stuff, and by investing what we have in theKingdom, we can experience both the generosity of our Master and the abundant lifehe wants to give us.

Is time running out? In this eye-opening message, Pastor Wayne unpacks Jesus's parable of the talents. Discover how to be a faithful steward of your time, resources, and God-given assignments. Your daily choices matter for eternity.
Jesus' parable of the talents is an image of Christian life. God has invested a lot in each one of us. Like the servants who eagerly trade with their talents to make them fruitful, we want to accept all the opportunities and challenges that our Lord has entrusted to us. Too often it is easy to resent life, focusing only on the difficulties, and end up like the third servant who buries his talent out of laziness and fear.
Fr. Mike explains sins of omission, and how these are some of the biggest deciding factors of who goes to heaven and who goes to hell: whether or not we did good works God called us to. He also reminds us that not all of the New Testament parables are universally relevant, recalling the parable of the talents and the parable of the wise and foolish maidens. Today's readings are Matthew 25-26 and Proverbs 19:21-24. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Please note: The Bible contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.
