The Daily Philip is a devotion of prayer to the Patron Saint of Joy, St. Philip Neri, led by Fr. Malone, parochial vicar of Christ the Redeemer Parish in Swift Current. This devotion has four parts: (1) a daily prayer for a particular virtue, based on the day of the week, to which Pope Pius IX has attached an indulgence (dated May 17, 1852,); (2) a reading from The Life of St. Philip Neri, Apostle of Rome; (3) a quote from The Maxims and Counsels of St. Philip Neri; and (4) the daily prayer for a good death.   For Sunday Prayer to obtain the virtue of Humility. The Portland Bureau of Transportation--or PBOT--is spending tens of millions to convert miles of a four-lane state highway, known as 82nd avenue, into a two-lane neighborhood street and busway.TriMet is headed for a contentious decision November 7th to put 82nd Ave on a major “Road Diet,” cut motorist capacity in half, and replace car lanes with BAT lanes for bikes and transit. It all started three years ago when ODOT transferred the Portland section of 82nd to PBOT, who began spending millions on a scheme to “build a better 82nd avenue.”PBOT's overarching vision—for 82nd and others—means converting state highways to busways by reducing lanes, adding barriers, punishing motorists with gridlock, and calling it progress. It's part of Portland's “Transportation System Plan” that envisions walking, bicycling, transit, and shared vehicles for 70 percent of Portland. Their “strategy for people movement” literally does not include personal vehicles.When Metro, PBOT, and TriMet meet--a rabble of bike activists, lawyers, and Democratic Socialists plan to make a showing and demand more miles of dedicated BAT lanes for buses and bikes on state highways.Oregon motorists make up 90 percent of 82nd avenue users. On Oct. 23, Deacon Larry Gayton discussed the upcoming march for migrants and refugees and Hispanic Mass on the Art Lewis Show. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, faithful will gather for a solemn March for migrants and refugees. The march will begin at Great Lakes Bay Health Center parking lot at 501 Lapeer Ave., Saginaw and conclude at St. Joseph Church, 910 N 6th Ave., Saginaw.After the March, a Misa Hispana (Hispanic Mass) will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church at 4 p.m. The Misa Hispana Mass celebrates the rich traditions of the Hispanic Catholic community particularly through music and language in the bilingual liturgy.“We will march as an expression of faith in Jesus, who stands with the vulnerable, the poor and immigrants,” said Bishop Robert Gruss, Bishop of Saginaw. “Migrants and refugees often find themselves alone, separated from family and lacking basic needs. Jesus calls us to welcome the stranger, clothe the naked and feed the hungry. As a local Church, we must be of ‘one heart and mind' and uphold the dignity of all people.”“A public gathering like this can motivate all of us to put our faith into action,” said Deacon Larry Gayton, who serves in the Office of Multicultural Ministry at the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw. “We want to let migrants and refugees in our community know that we care about them and that their voices are heard.”Deacon Larry Gayton's family migrated from Killeen, Texas to Berrien Springs, Mich. in 1968 and worked on farms. “We didn't have much when we moved to Michigan. One of our vehicles broke down on the drive to Michigan and our family of seven had to pile into a crowded car. We worked on farms picking fruits and vegetables and lived in migrant camps. Generous members of the Catholic community helped me with my education and eventually I was able to attend law school. I want to serve migrants and refugees just as I was helped by so many generous people.”All are invited to join in the prayerful and solemn march. Afterwards, Bishop Robert Gruss will celebrate the Hispanic Mass (Misa Hispana) at St. Joseph Church.“The Misa Hispana is a joyous and diverse celebration,” said Deacon Larry Gayton. “Daughters who have recently celebrated their quinceañera have been invited to attend wearing their quinceañera dresses. The Knights of Columbus will also be joining us for Mass and the Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil Mariachis will perform music at a reception after Mass.”

The Daily Philip is a devotion of prayer to the Patron Saint of Joy, St. Philip Neri, led by Fr. Malone, parochial vicar of Christ the Redeemer Parish in Swift Current. This devotion has four parts: (1) a daily prayer for a particular virtue, based on the day of the week, to which Pope Pius IX has attached an indulgence (dated May 17, 1852,); (2) a reading from The Life of St. Philip Neri, Apostle of Rome; (3) a quote from The Maxims and Counsels of St. Philip Neri; and (4) the daily prayer for a good death.   For Sunday Prayer to obtain the virtue of Humility. St, Philip, my glorious Patron, who on earth didst so love humility as to count the praise and even the good esteem of men as dross; obtain for me also this virtue by thy prayers. Thou knowest how haughty I am in my thoughts, how contemptuous in my words, how ambitious in my doings. Ask for me humility of heart; that my mind may be freed from all pride, and impressed with the same low esteem of self which thou hadst of thyself, counting thyself the worst of all men, and for that reason rejoicing when thou didst suffer contempt, and seeking out for thyself occasions of enduring it.  Great Saint, obtain for me a true humble heart and the knowledge of my own nothingness; that I may rejoice when I am despised, and resent not when others are preferred before me; that I may never be vain when I am praised, but may ever seek only to be great in the eyes of God, desiring to receive from Him alone all my exaltation. Loin d'être une tradition, cette salutation fut un acte isolé, une tentative d'émouvoir Claude.Et, fait rare dans les chroniques romaines, il semble que l'empereur ait été touché. Pris de compassion, il aurait ordonné d'arrêter le combat et d'épargner les hommes. Mais, selon certaines sources, le spectacle reprit ensuite, peut-être sous la pression de la foule impatiente. The new facility, located in Greeley, is called Link (Library and Innovation Center) and encompasses a massive 63,000 square feet. The design for Link was driven by community input that highlighted the need for skills-based development. Key Offerings and Resources: The Link facility combines many resources often found separately in other libraries into one space, including a recording studio, interactive children's areas, and a wood shop. Key features and services mentioned include:Meeting Spaces: The library offers various meeting spaces, including a boardroom (set up for streaming and public use), smaller 2-3 person spaces, and a flexible events center that can hold approximately 300 people.• Cost: All meeting spaces and core library services are free to the public, treated as prepaid services via tax dollars.• Media and Digital Access: The library still carries books (fiction, children's, graphic novels) but relies heavily on digital resources via apps like Hoopla, Libby, and Overdrive for streaming music, movies, audiobooks, and ebooks.
