Today we have a guest speaker helping us unpack Matthew 28 - some of Jesus final words on this earth. We pray that you will enjoy listening to Jerry Coleman as the Holy Spirit speaks through him straight to your heart.

In Acts 20, Paul says, “I have declared both to Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.” There is no difference in the message he preached to Jews and Gentiles. It is the same Gospel. And the Gospel we have today is exactly the same: whether Jew or Gentile, we all need to hear the message of repentance and put our faith in Jesus as Messiah. Then, in verse 22, Paul says something very powerful: “And now, compelled by the Holy Spirit…” Notice how strong that wording is. Sometimes we talk about being led by the Spirit, or even driven by the Spirit. But Paul says he was compelled by the Holy Spirit. And I sometimes feel that same compulsion in my own ministry. People have questioned why I do certain things or why I go to certain places. But I don't always describe it simply as being led – I feel driven, even compelled, by the Holy Spirit. And where was the Spirit compelling Paul to go? To Jerusalem. But Paul was full of concern because he says, “I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.” He didn't know what awaited him. He didn't know what the consequences would be. But he knew he had to go. That is what it means to be compelled by the Holy Spirit. You may not know everything that lies ahead, but you know that God is telling you to go – and when He compels you, you obey.

Robert Cwiklik, guest author, recounts how, in the wake of the 1874 White League coup, President Grant felt compelled to take decisive action, despite the 1874 midterm elections flipping the House of Representatives to Democratic control. Grant initially used massive military force—including warships and infantry—to restore Governor Kellogg, but he realized a permanent solution was needed as white vigilantes continued to overthrow local officials across the South. Fearing that the gains of the Civil War were being erased, Grant turned to his most trusted and aggressive general, Phil Sheridan. He dispatched Sheridan on a secret mission to New Orleans, instructing him to go "on vacation" and assess how to "put a lid on the situation." This mission was so sensitive that Grant bypassed his cabinet, including Secretary of State Hamilton Fish, to keep it confidential. Grant relied on Sheridan's reputation for "total war" tactics to combat the growing insurgent threat from the White League and other militias. A life shaped by abuse, abandonment, and unbelief became a testimony to God's relentless  grace. Oscar shares how the Lord met him amid a broken childhood marked by instability, trauma, and painful lies about his identity and worth. Though his grandmother planted seeds of truth, he eventually embraced atheism and grew openly hostile toward Christianity. Yet even in rebellion, God was quietly at work, using faithful prayers and providence to prepare him for a future he never could have imagined. The conversation traces the surprising ways God began drawing Oscar to Himself. Though convinced Christianity was false, he was deeply unsettled by a message at a baptism service and a prayer directed toward him. Over the following year, the life he had built slowly lost its appeal as conviction exposed the emptiness beneath it. Eventually, he reached out to the only Christian in his contacts and found himself surrounded by believers who patiently answered questions and faithfully walked beside him. Through discipleship and genuine Christian community, years of skepticism and anger gradually gave way to faith in Christ. One of the most meaningful moments came at his own baptism, when fellow believers stood beside him after many of his old friends had chosen not to. In that moment, God reminded him that He had given him a new family through His church. Oscar also reflects on the people God used to reshape his understanding of family and belonging. Mature believers modeled Christ's love through simple acts of hospitality and friendship. He shares how the Lord brought Kelly into his life and how God redeemed two painful stories through marriage and raising children in the faith. Through these relationships, the Lord continued to heal old wounds and deepen Oscar's understanding of grace. Looking back, Oscar sees God's kindness not only in dramatic moments but also in ordinary faithfulness. Finally, Oscar recounts the unexpected restoration of his relationship with his biological father after decades spent believing painful misconceptions. Rather than finding the man he had imagined, he discovered a loving family who had never forgotten him. Through that relationship, God revealed deeper truths about His own fatherly love and faithfulness. Which Level Are You Tolerating in Your Gym? https://teachhoops.com/ In the pursuit of a championship culture, we often focus on the "Skill Gap"—who can shoot, who can handle pressure, and who knows the sets. But the most dangerous gap in any program is the Competitive Gap. Every player on your roster falls into one of four distinct categories of competitiveness. As a coach, your job isn't just to identify these levels; it's to move the needle. If you have a roster full of Level 2s, you'll be "competitive" but rarely "elite." To win at the highest level, you need to cultivate Level 4s who can police the standard when you aren't in the room. These players are physically present but mentally elsewhere. They might be in the gym because of parental pressure, social status, or they simply like the gear—but they don't like the "muck and grind." The Behavior: They cut corners in sprints, complain about the "Standard," and are the first to look at the clock. The Impact: They are Energy Takers. An anchor isn't just heavy; it's designed to stop progress. They drag the collective speed of the practice down. The Coach's Fix: You cannot "coach" an unwilling player into a leader. You must give them a choice: meet the minimum standard of the program or find a different hobby. Retention is not always a victory. This is the majority of most rosters. They are "good kids" who do exactly what they are told—and only what they are told. The Behavior: They are on time, they listen, and they give effort when the whistle blows. However, they lack Internal Ignition. If the coach isn't watching, their intensity drops. The Impact: They provide stability but not "Next Play" speed. They are followers who wait for permission to be great. The Coach's Fix: Challenge them with Rep Density. Put them in small-sided games where they can't hide and must make "Zero-Second Decisions." Level 3s are dangerous in the best way possible. They have a "chip" on their shoulder and a personal mission. They want to be the leading scorer, the All-Conference guard, or the scholarship athlete. The Behavior: They are the first in the gym and the last to leave. They work with high intensity because they have specific goals. The Impact: They raise the physical standard of practice. However, their motivation is often individual. They are focused on their game, which can sometimes lead to "Hero Ball" or a lack of connection with teammates. The Coach's Fix: Bridge the gap between their individual goals and the team's vision. Show them how their leadership (Level 4) is the only thing that will unlock the success they crave. The Compelled player is a different breed. They don't just want to win; they have to win. They are obsessed with the "Standard" and feel physical discomfort when the team isn't meeting it. The Behavior: They are "Coaches on the Floor." They echo your calls, hold teammates accountable in the huddle, and dive for loose balls when you're up by 20. The Impact: They are Energy Givers. They create a "Player-Led" environment where the coach's voice is only needed for tactical adjustments, not for motivation. The Coach's Fix: Give them the keys. These are the members of your Leadership Council. Empower them to lead the debriefs and "Truth Room" sessions. Coach's Note: "You cannot expect a Level 4 locker room if you are a Level 2 coach. Your players will mirror your energy. If you are 'mailing it in' during the mid-season grind, your Compelled players will lose their fire.
