Brethren, I know we've had one previous conversation on Shepherding the Afflicted through the preached word, but I'd like for us to narrow in our this specific situation of affliction. What doctrines or passages should we preached to minister to widows and widowers? What passages does the congregation need to hear for them to effectively minister to widows and widowers in the congregation? Again, we're not “singling out” anyone from the pulpit. Like Pastor Lee mentioned in a previous episode, we don't want to use the pulpit as a “bully pulpit.” That shows more cowardice than bravery. But when true believers are among us who have backslidden, what passages or doctrinal themes should we preach to address backslidden believers? What aspect of Christ's person and work do the backslidden need to hear about? June 23, 2024 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - Based on numerous New Testament passages, this sermon considers the life-giving power of the preached Word.
Today is the first time I've wondered if the movie title “Free Willy” was actually a hidden joke. …probably not. Nonetheless, the question of just how “free” our wills may be is no longer a conversation restricted to theologians. That said, this conversation is from a theological vantage point. In it, Nathan Adams (who is currently a PhD student @ McGill University) runs us through the paper he recently presented at the Wesleyan Theological Society. Wanna find out more? The Power Of The Preached Word - 03-20-22 AM - Bro Gilbert Pearson
In this episode, Tyler talks with Dr. Danny Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, about the preached Word. The tradition of the Christian church has always centered around the preaching of God's Word. But why? Why is it that Christians all around the world gather, some at the risk of losing their life, to hear a man preach from a book? Is this really what we're called to do? Dr. Akin answers these questions and more as he helps us to better understand why God has chosen preaching as his main means of revealing himself to the world and why it's a vital and irreplaceable part of the Christian life.
On today's episode, Bishop R.J. Burt discusses guidelines for how we can determine when a preached Word is for our lives.
