Giving yourself over to the world's evil ways begins and ends with selling your self to the Evil One. Don't Sell Your Soul to the Devil.

Satan wants to usurp Christ's kingdom worship by tempting you to not bother to get up and go out of your way to offer the sacrifices of praise where God has ordained public worship. Beware of the Idolatry of Idle Worship.

There is a danger of being drug away or held back from purity in worship and service to the Lord based upon evil influences by those closest to us in our family—and especially when we are most vulnerable during our old age. Serve the LORD with Zeal in Your Olden Years.

Though the enemies of God seek to cut His people off and stop us from serving Him, the LORD Himself always is supporting us to keep us going. The LORD is Always Your Stay.

This message was given on 2 Timothy 1:7 by Pastor Grant while he lead the Protestant Chapel Worship service during his on-duty chapel time this weekend (where he also lead spiritual study groups and visited and ministered to veteran patients). God has not given us a spirit of cowardice that should paralyze us but of courage that should stir up in us His powerful gifts of love and self control. Don't Live in Fear.

Pastor Grant was on duty call again today for the SD VA Medical Center this Lord's Day. We thank Dr. David VanDrunen of Westminster Seminary California (WSC) in Escondido for leading worship and preaching for both our services. Dr. VanDrunen is WSC's Robert B. Strimple Professor of Systematic Theology and Christian Ethics.

In all our dark moments without, God will shine within and through us. The LORD Your Light is Always Shining Within You.

Because God's hands reach out everywhere wherever we are, He always is and always will be taking care of us—and thus we should always lift up our hands in praise to Him. Raise Your Hands Praising God for His Ever-Present, All Providing Hands Always Under, Over, and Around You.

This sermon had a technical glitch that lost a section of quotes from Francis Shaeffer on ecology (an application of the text). See below for the manuscript text of that section. God's gift of extremely heightened wisdom is seen in being a student of all life and putting it into practice in all one's life to bless the lives of others. Wise People Reflecting and Living for Christ Learn About All of Life for All Their Life. Francis Schaeffer, Pollution and the Death of Man: The Christian View of Ecology (only the section that was cut out of the video): "Loving the Lover who has made it, I have respect for the thing He has made … Thus we must consciously deal with the integrity of each thing that we touch … treating all the things He has made in the same way as He treats them." " … as a Christian, I am consciously to deal with every other created thing with integrity, each thing in its proper sphere by creation." Points out God's covenant of creation: Genesis 9:8-17, is "with every created thing" and "between Me and earth." "God is interested in creation. He does not despise it … What God has made, I, who am also a creature, must not despise." " … we should be looking now, on the basis of the work of Christ, for substantial healing in every place affected by the Fall."

This message was at the San Diego VA Medical Center by Pastor Grant Van Leuven who was on duty this week as a chaplain resident and this included conducting and preaching for the Protestant Chapel Service this Lord's Day. Christians must not be anxious over anything but instead pray to God about everything and always enjoy His supernatural, peaceful presence. Don't Worry, Be Praying.

The Lord Himself will guide us through all our dark and discouraging days. The LORD is Your Light.

The words of the Bible are written by God the Holy Spirit through men. God Wrote the Bible.

Man's sinful heart is crooked and corrupt, so we can only trust in the truth of the Triune God. Ask God to Save You from Yourself.

The way we expand our capacity for living God's life-giving commands is when He enlarges our heart for Him and them. Pray God Enlarges Your Heart.

After Jesus Christ's death and burial, the Scriptures record Him appearing to so many historical eye witnesses at many places over a timely extended time to leave no doubt about His bodily resurrection. Christ is Risen, Indeed! (The Testimony of Many Witnesses).

All sins are ultimately rebellion against God Who redeems us by requiring our utter brokenness over them. Your Sinning Should Completely Humble You.

The reason God's people should worship Him is because He is thrice holy. Worship the LORD Your God for He is Thrice Holy!

Jesus speaks in parables to further dismiss those who are defiant in rebellious unbelief while disclosing saving faith discernment to His trusting disciples. Preaching the Parables: Proclaiming the King of Kings and His Kingdom.

Walking in the light of Christ and His Word provides the wonderful communion of the saints. Walk in the Light and Enjoy Enlightening Fellowship.

The reason God's children should listen to and live out their Heavenly Father's Biblical instruction as given through their covenant parents is to illuminate their way to truly live and live forever. Learn to Leave the Light On Every Moment of Your Life.

"Rejoice, Your Name is Written in Heaven." A sermon on Luke 10:17-20 by Rev. Joel Fitzpatrick at Puritan Reformed Presbyterian Church in San Diego. While PRPC's Pastor Grant is on chaplain duty call today for the SD VA Medical Center, we thank the Rev. Joel Fitzpatrick for leading our morning worship, preaching, and administering the Lord's Supper. Rev. Joel Fitzpatrick is a husband of 25 years, father of two (22 & 19), and a Grandfather (2 months). He is an ordained minister of the PCA's South Coast Presbytery. Rev. Fitzpatrick also is an author and speaker. He enjoys golfing, hiking, and cooking.

Pastor Grant is in the chaplain residency program with the San Diego Veterans Medical Center in La Jolla, and was on weekend duty today during which he led and preached for the Protestant worship service that also is fed as live video to the TVs of patients. Drawing on the story of Daniel and the story of Jack LaLane with Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story," we learned that there is a way God has designed our bodies to best function when we best fuel them according to His design for the best witness and influence. Eat and Drink Healthy and Exercise.

Special class led by Rev. Joel Fitzpatrick, our morning service preacher today. Bible study on Genesis 19:30-38, entitled, "A Strange Family Tree."

Life's boundary lines that God has set must always be respected and lived out. Do Not Remove God's Ancient Landmarks.

God's people who call on His name will sacrifice their time and resources to express thankfulness to Him. Call on God's Name with Sacrifices of Thankful Praise.

Christians can point unbelievers to God witnessing to His Own Self by giving everyone ample self-sufficient evidence in His supplying them rain and thus their enjoying its sustenance. God Gives Himself a Witness to the World by Giving Us All Rain.

God's leaders maintain their calling and good influence when acting wisely both during prosperity and persecution before the eyes of their authorities, those they serve, and of God. When Prospering or Persecuted Behave Yourself Wisely.

This sermon was to set up a presentation by Tammy De Armas with PassionLife during our evening fellowship time as well as celebrate publicly that Pastor Grant recently learned for the first time he will be a Grandpa (congratulations to his daughter and son-in-law, Chad and Rachel Lemmen). The blessing of those who fear God and serve the family of God with their family is so blessed that it can be seen to extend to their enjoyment of grandchildren. Grandbabbies Are a Big Blessing.

After our evening worship service, during food and fellowship in the Fireside room we had an evening of insights, discussion, and Q&A about global prolife mission work with Tammy De Armas, Director of Mission Advancement for PassionLife. Understanding prolife work as world-missions; or, storming the strongholds where abortion, infanticide and gendercide is especially concentrated and providing life-saving help in a life-changing way. PassionLife works as a prolife global missions partner to missionaries and indigenous Christian leaders, where the plague of abortion, infanticide and gendercide is especially concentrated. In such places we disciple people in a biblical worldview of human value, teach them how to make the case for life in a secular culture, see abortion guilt and grief as an entry point for the Gospel's offer of forgiveness and freedom, and provide models of pregnancy crisis intervention services that they can adapt to their culture and neighborhood. The Christian's true testimony is that while you are brought low in oppression, God will lift you up. When You Are Brought Low, God Will Help You Up.

Anger should be carefully avoided because it is likely to linger and fester. Beware of Letting Anger Linger in Your Heart.

The words of Christ's people should begin with wisdom and continue with kindness. Speak Wisely and with Kindness.

Where God's people declare to be is where they should have His heart to see all people decently cared for. Have a Heart After God for All Images of Himself.

God's grace is more than enough for your efforts to be good enough and exalt His glory working through your weakness. Your Good Enough is Good Enough by God's Grace.

Where God places His name in worship is where His people should place their first financial fruits. Your Tithe Takes Care of God's Ministry.

When we fall and fail, we must be broken and crushed in repentance to seek and enjoy mercy. When You Fall and Fail, Contrition Will Deliver You.

Pastor Grant was on duty on the Lord's Day as a chaplain for the SD Va Medical Center (where he is is their chaplaincy residency program) and led and preached for the Protestant chapel worship service on the Lord's Day (that was broadcast on their live TV station for patients in beds). Though the wicked seek to knock out the righteous, the righteous always rise up in victory. Keep Getting Up Again.

God's people and prepare to fight the good fight of faith because they know it is God Who will fight for them. Be Prepared to Fight the Good Fight, and Often Your Enemies' Fearful Threats will Fizzle. Because Our God Shall Fight for Us.

God's people are to only eat in a manner that is not an abomination to Him but rather His glorification. Eat and Drink to God's Holy Glory.

When aggravated anger of God's enemies toward the work of His people with a real threat of attack that can cause the Church to emotional exhaustion and possibly interrupt the work, God's leaders must prepare His people with prayer, a plan of defense, and motivational preaching that can stop the threat and keep the people going. Be Prepared to Fight the Good Fight, and Often Your Enemies' Fearful Threats will Fizzle.

God's separated people who have the certainty of eternal life in Christ and the resurrection should not grieve the death of their loved ones in the Lord like the world but distinctively show their holy hope in heaven. Don't Grieve Your Deceased Brethren with a Worldly Lack of Hope in Heaven.

The response of God's leaders to growing reproach by God's enemies should be increasing in prayer for God to intervene so that God's people respond in continuing to make progress building Christ's church. When Oppressed, Keep Praying and Making Progress.

God's call on His people to live a clean, holy, separate, sanctified life that honors His name is because of who they are as He has made them in Himself and their own identity and reputation in Christ. As God's Blessed People Be Blessed.

While some live longer, we all only have very little time on this earth that is full of sorrowful living. Your Days on this Earth Are Numbered.
