Sanctification Explained: Sanctification is the ongoing process of becoming more like God, involving a change in one's nature, thoughts, and desires over time, as individuals strive to live in accordance with their covenants. The Role of Grace: Grace is central to understanding both justification and sanctification. It emphasizes that salvation is a gift from God, not solely based on individual works, and that individuals can have confidence in their justified state. Addressing Perfectionism: Many Latter-day Saints struggle with perfectionism, often feeling unworthy despite understanding the doctrine. The conversation highlights the importance of recognizing one’s worth as inherent and not solely based on actions. Mental Health Considerations: The discussion touches on the intersection of mental health and religious beliefs, particularly regarding OCD and scrupulosity, emphasizing the need for compassion and understanding in addressing these issues. Leadership Applications Fostering a Culture of Grace: Leaders can create an environment where members feel secure in their justified state, encouraging them to engage in the gospel without the burden of shame or guilt. Understanding Individual Needs: By recognizing that unmet needs may drive certain behaviors, leaders can approach members with empathy, focusing on support rather than judgment. Promoting Continuous Growth: Leaders should emphasize the importance of striving for sanctification, framing commandments and ordinances as opportunities for growth rather than as mere obligations, thus inspiring members to engage more fully in their spiritual journeys. From the Come Follow Me Manual:Most of Genesis 5 is a list of the generations between Adam and Eve and Noah. We read a lot of names, but we don't learn much about them. Then we read this intriguing but unexplained line: “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him” (Genesis 5:24). Surely there's a story behind that verse! But without further explanation, the list of generations resumes.Thankfully, Moses 6 reveals the details of Enoch's story—and it's quite a story. We learn of Enoch's humility, his insecurities, the potential God saw in him, and the great work he performed as God's prophet. We also get a clearer picture of the family of Adam and Eve as it progressed through the generations. We read of Satan's “great dominion” but also of parents who taught children “the ways of God” (Moses 6:15, 21). Especially precious is what we learn about the doctrine these parents taught: faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, and receiving the Holy Ghost (see Moses 6:50–52). That doctrine, like the priesthood that accompanies it, “was in the beginning [and] shall be in the end of the world also” (Moses 6:7).Song from this episode: I am Divine by listener Amanda and her son Tate. As Jesus Christ's Apostle to All Nations and Generations, I testify that in Genesis 3–4 and Moses 4–5, we see the divine pattern of agency, sacrifice, repentance, and redemption revealed in its purity. Adam and Eve stepped into mortality with faith, courage, and understanding, rejoicing in the Savior who would redeem them.I testify that the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was taught to Adam and Eve, and to their children by holy angels. The doctrine of Christ—faith, repentance, baptism, the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end—was established from the beginning. Satan has always sought to destroy this truth, but the Lord has restored it in every dispensation and has restored it again in our own day.I testify that all who follow the gospel plan will be redeemed through the blood of the Lamb, sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and prepared to inherit eternal life.I testify that Jesus Christ lives. What happens when Christianity loses authority? Chaos follows. Families fracture. Men drift. Truth becomes negotiable. In Part Two of this conversation with Father Peter Damian, the discussion moves from personal history into the heart of the crisis facing the modern Church and the modern man. Father Peter continues unpacking his journey from Orthodoxy into the Catholic Church, but the focus sharpens on ecclesial authority, obedience, and why Christ intentionally established a visible Church with a living teaching office. This is not about preference. It is about survival.Drawing from Sacred Scripture, Church history, and lived pastoral experience, Fr. Peter explains why Christianity without a final authority inevitably fractures. He dismantles the illusion of unity without submission, exposes the danger of theological individualism, and shows why men who refuse authority always end up submitting to something else, whether the state, culture, or their own disordered passions. The conversation turns practical and confrontational. Fr. Peter speaks directly to Catholic men about obedience, not as weakness, but as strength. Pride masquerades as independence, but humility is the foundation of authentic masculinity. A man who cannot submit to God-given authority cannot lead his family, protect his home, or remain steady under pressure.James presses the issue further and issues a direct challenge to men who live in half-commitments. You cannot defend the Church while standing outside her walls. You cannot claim Christ while rejecting His Bride. You cannot rebuild a Catholic culture while refusing Catholic discipline. This episode rejects the comfortable lie that faith can be customized. It cannot. The Gospel demands total allegiance. Christ demands obedience. The Church demands fidelity. This is a call to decision.Powerful Quotes from the Episode“Unity without authority is an illusion. It cannot last.”“A man who rejects obedience will always end up enslaved to something else.”“Christ did not leave us a feeling. He left us a Church.”Key Takeaway for MenStop negotiating with the faith. Choose obedience. Submit your intellect and your will fully to Christ and His Church. Cut off the habits, media, and influences that train you to resist authority. Jesus didn't set up His church to be led by a single man with exclusive access to heaven's messages. Instead, the book of Acts shows something radically different: God gives His Holy Spirit to every believer, revealing truth through Scripture and confirming it through the people of God.But here's the question that hits closer to home: How does the Holy Spirit work on a personal level? That's where this conversation gets especially helpful—because Layne lived for 40 years inside Mormonism, where the Holy Spirit is often treated like something you earn, maintain, or even lose. And if you grew up LDS, you know the anxiety: Do I have the Holy Ghost? Did I lose it? Am I worthy enough today? The “Holy Ghost” in Mormonism: A Gift You're Never Quite Sure You HaveIn Mormon teaching, people are told about the “gift of the Holy Ghost,” along with ideas like “confirmations,” “warm feelings,” and the famous “burning in the bosom.” It's often described as something that comes after baptism, through priesthood hands, and after ongoing obedience and ordinances. But here's the problem: many Latter-day Saints live with what Layne calls Holy Spirit insecurity. You might feel something during prayer or a testimony meeting—then you mess up later and wonder if God is gone. The whole cycle can become spiritually exhausting, emotionally draining, and mentally confusing. Instead of a steady relationship with God, you're chasing a spiritual signal that feels like it comes and goes. The Holy Spirit Is a “He,” Not an “It”One of the practical moments in this episode is when the guys stop and talk about pronouns—because it reveals something deeper. In biblical Christianity, the Holy Spirit isn't an impersonal force. That's why Christians speak of Him as “He,” not because the Spirit has a gender, but because He's personal—God Himself dwelling in believers.Mormonism may technically describe the Holy Ghost as a person, but it's within a very different framework: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost as separate beings (and functionally separate gods). That changes everything. Instead of God's direct presence, the Holy Ghost becomes more like a messenger—someone sent—while leaving people unsure what God the Father is doing, and unsure whether they can really trust what they're experiencing.Feelings vs. Fruit: What Are You Actually Chasing?A big “aha” in this conversation is how Mormon “spiritual feelings” often function differently...

Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com Awaken the Spirit Eph. 5: 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, (the god of Dionasis) for that is debauchery (a complete and utter loss, you wasted it), but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Debauchery - you wasted a $20 bill. If I burn it, can I have another one? NOPE! At some point the HS says… no more! **The God of Dionasis - hedonism (sex partying) materialism and power. Acts 5:32 32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.” The verse you are looking for is Acts 5:32. Given GK - Pour into - The act of and effect of obedience. Obedience GK - (Aorist participle) submit to advice/ To hearken to one, …Did you hear that? You think you heard it… you hearken to it? Here it is in the King James Version (KJV), which uses the specific phrasing you mentioned: "And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." Context of the Verse To understand the full meaning, it helps to know what was happening at that moment: The Scene: The apostles (including Peter) had been arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin (the Jewish high court). The Conflict: The high priest demanded to know why they were still teaching in Jesus' name after being strictly forbidden to do so. The Response: Peter famously replied in Acts 5:29, "We ought to obey God rather than men." He then explained the gospel and concluded with verse 32, affirming that the Holy Spirit is a witness to these truths—and that this Spirit is given to those who obey God (specifically in the context of believing the Gospel and obeying the command to witness). The pharisees were keeping the law, they had large portions of the OT memorized. They were the “Christians” of their day - but they lacked the power and witness of the Holy Spirit because they would not “hearken” to the Holy Spirits voice!

How can gospel teachers help students not only learn but experience revelation in the classroom? In this episode, we talk with professor of Church history and doctrine Phil Allred about his contribution to the article "Teaching That Leads to Enduring Conversion." Dr. Allred introduces the concept of revelatory reading—an approach to scripture study that moves beyond simply reading words on a page and invites students to reflect on their thoughts and impressions, recognize the influence of the Holy Ghost, and act on personal revelation. He explains how transforming a common activity like note-taking into a spiritually reflective practice can deepen students' ability to receive guidance from the Spirit. Dr. Allred also shares practical strategies for creating a revelatory classroom, where students learn to track impressions, discern truth, and develop lifelong habits of seeking revelation. Come journey with me to the realms of Yahweh by Holy Ghost
Thursday of the First Week in Ordinary Time Saint of the Day: St. Arnold Jansen, 1837-1909; born in Germany, ordained in 1861, and served as a parish priest; in 1875 he founded the Society of the Divine Word, to provide priests and lay brothers for the missions; he also founded the Servant Sisters of the Holy Ghost for the missions in 1889 Office of Readings and Morning Prayer for 1/15/26 Gospel: Mark 1:40-45
Open Forum During the forum, Pastor Amos confirmed that CFE continues to offer a ministry ordination process through a free online school, a structured ministry plan, and a 3-month practicum. Sophie, already ordained, showed interest in learning more, while Rosalind inquired about receiving the Holy Ghost as described in Acts 2:38. Pastor Amos clarified the difference between the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at salvation and the separate experience of baptism in the Holy Spirit, evidenced by speaking in tongues. He and Rosalind also discussed differing interpretations of "tarrying" for the Holy Spirit. CFE's Atlanta events, including an annual conference and future gatherings, were mentioned, and Pastor Amos explained the meanings of names like Jesus, Yeshua, and Yahweh. Conversations about financial goals encouraged faith-based planning without anxiety. Pastor Amos stressed church flexibility and the importance of ministering like Jesus. He and Derrick emphasized Christian unity beyond cultural divisions, encouraging believers to overcome racial biases and focus on shared identity in Christ. Cynthia sought guidance on navigating cultural sensitivities, while Stephanie, Cynthia, and Pastor Amos explored the value of cross-racial friendships and empathy in conversations about race. Rosalind's experiences highlighted the importance of transparency and diversity within the church, and the group agreed to continue these discussions throughout the year. What happens when a man grows up under brutal communism, religious persecution, and fear and then discovers that true freedom cannot exist without truth? In this episode of The Manly Catholic, James sits down with Father Peter Damian, a Catholic priest, son of a Eastern Orthodox pastor, and convert who lived firsthand under the weight of communist ideology in Romania. This is not theory. This is lived experience.Father Peter shares what life was really like behind the Iron Curtain, where neighbors spied on neighbors, faith was suppressed, and fear ruled daily life. He explains why freedom, once lost, is never something to be taken lightly and why modern men are dangerously naive about what happens when truth collapses. The conversation turns direct and uncompromising as Father Peter walks through his intellectual conversion from Orthodoxy to Catholicism. He explains why Christ did not leave us a loose federation of opinions but a Church with authority. From Matthew 16 to the Church Fathers, from the papacy to the failures of decentralized Christianity, this episode exposes why unity without authority is impossible and why the early Church always pointed to Peter as the visible head meant to preserve order and truth. This episode dismantles the lie that freedom means doing whatever you want. Father Peter shows how that lie devastated societies in the East and is now hollowing out the West. Without faith, morality collapses. Without morality, society decays. This is not speculation. It is history repeating itself.Father Peter also shares his powerful vocational story, including the role Our Lady of Medjugorje played in his conversion and call to the priesthood. This episode is a direct challenge to Catholic men. Stop living as spectators. Stop outsourcing truth. Stop confusing comfort with freedom. If you want a virtuous society, you must first become a virtuous man rooted in Christ and His Church. This is Part One of the conversation. The foundation is laid. The fight continues.Referenced Products & ResourcesMystic Monk CoffeeHarmel Academy of the TradesPowerful Quotes from the Episode“Without faith, morality collapses. And without morality, society becomes a disaster.”“Freedom is not the ability to do whatever you want. It is the ability to do what is right.”“The Church is meant to be a symphony. But a symphony without a choir master becomes chaos.”Key Takeaway for MenStop treating freedom as comfort. Start treating it as responsibility. Submit your intellect and your will to Christ and His Church. A man who rejects authority will never lead his family or defend the faith.Support & Stay ConnectedPlease prayerfully consider supporting the podcast on our Buy Me A Coffee page to help grow the show and reach as many men as possible. 29 The next day, John saw Jesus coming to him, and he saith: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who taketh away the sin of the world.Altera die vidit Joannes Jesum venientem ad se, et ait : Ecce agnus Dei, ecce qui tollit peccatum mundi. 30 This is he, of whom I said: After me there cometh a man, who is preferred before me: because he was before me.Hic est de quo dixi : Post me venit vir qui ante me factus est : quia prior me erat : 31 And I knew him not, but that he may be made manifest in Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.et ego nesciebam eum, sed ut manifestetur in Israel, propterea veni ego in aqua baptizans. 32 And John gave testimony, saying: I saw the Spirit coming down, as a dove from heaven, and he remained upon him.Et testimonium perhibuit Joannes, dicens : Quia vidi Spiritum descendentem quasi columbam de caelo, et mansit super eum. 33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize with water, said to me: He upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon him, he it is that baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.Et ego nesciebam eum : sed qui misit me baptizare in aqua, ille mihi dixit : Super quem videris Spiritum descendentem, et manentem super eum, hic est qui baptizat in Spiritu Sancto. 34 And I saw, and I gave testimony, that this is the Son of God.Et ego vidi : et testimonium perhibui quia hic est Filius Dei.

When life feels uncertain and stakes are high on the operating table, how do we learn to trust in the Lord's plan?On this week's episode of Latter-Day Lights, Scott and Emily sit down with Dr. Mark T. Saunders, a semi-retired OB/GYN whose quiet, faithful listening opened the door to dozens of sacred and miraculous stories. While conducting his routinely in-home medical visits, Mark found that his patients—often without prompting—felt compelled to share their deeply personal experiences of divine intervention, healing, and guidance from the Holy Ghost. From a young student almost facing the loss of his leg, to near-death experiences, and unmistakable moments of revelation, Mark reflects on how these encounters strengthened his testimony that God will always a God of miracles no matter the circumstances. This conversation explores the difference between trusting in the wisdom of the world, and learning to rely fully on personal revelation, spiritual sensitivity, and the intentional direction of the Spirit.Rooted in scripture, lived experience, and divine inspiration, this episode is an invitation to slow down, listen more closely, and rediscover what it means to place unwavering trust in the Lord—even when the path forward feels like it's coming to an end.*** Please SHARE Dr. Saunders' story and help us spread hope and light to others. ***To WATCH this episode on YouTube, visit: https://youtu.be/bihxYdh6GzM-----To READ Dr. Saunders' book, "Learning to Trust in The Lord," visit: https://a.co/d/0OLMSuKTo READ Scott's new book “Faith to Stay” for free, visit: https://www.faithtostay.com/-----Keep updated with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/latter.day.lights/Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/latterdaylightsAlso, if you have a faith-promoting or inspiring story, or know someone who does, please let us know by going to https://www.latterdaylights.com and reaching out to us.
