Many believers are questioning why modern church structures often mirror corporate business models instead of the spiritual qualifications found in the early church. In this episode, Pastors Scott and Dallas may have an answer as they explain why the goal of the church is to raise up "men and women of God" whose leadership is simply an overflow of their life as a disciple. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Our shout-out today goes to Jim Davis from Smyrna, GA. Thanks for your partnership in Project23. We cannot do this without donors like you. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 12:21-31. The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way. — 1 Corinthians 12:21-31 Insecurity says, "I don't matter." We addressed insecurity in the body last time. But pride says, "I don't need you." And this is the danger Paul confronts in this section. Prideful independence from the body when interdependence is God's design. "But God has so composed the body…" Notice the word "composed". It is the Greek word sugkeraō, which means to mix, blend carefully, or combine into a unified whole. It was used of mixing ingredients so that they form something inseparable. God has not merely assembled the church like loose disparate parts (like a junk drawer); he has blended it with deliberate care, giving greater honor where honor might otherwise be lacking. So why compose the body this way? He tells us why: "That there may be no division in the body." He composes with a mission— to preserve unity. Following this is one of the most probing lines in the chapter: "If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together." That is not sentiment. It is a spiritual reality. A blending so perfect that you cannot be indifferent to the suffering or honoring of another believer. This is countercultural. We are trained to compete, to compare, to isolate success, and to distance ourselves from pain. The body functions properly only when all its parts depend on one another. God has already blended you into this body. So experience it. Step toward the parts you are tempted to overlook. Lean into the people you think you can do without. Let yourself feel their joy and carry their burdens. You do not just attend a body that was composed. You are part of it. DO THIS: This week, intentionally celebrate someone else's gift and step toward someone else's pain. Refuse both envy and indifference. ASK THIS: Do I secretly believe I am more essential than others? Where have I withheld care from someone because their gift differs from mine? Do I truly rejoice when others are honored—or do I compare? PRAY THIS: Father, thank you for composing your church with wisdom. Forgive my pride and my indifference. Teach me to care deeply, rejoice sincerely, and depend humbly on the gifts you have given to others. For the glory of Christ. Amen. PLAY THIS: "They'll Know We Are Christians"
With the church at Corinth becoming arrogant and prideful after Paul left, he writes to them making fun of their attitude and he contrasts it with himself and the other apostles as being made a spectacle to the whole world by God. He says they are like a Greek play in the local theater, out there for the whole cosmos to see. But then he compares them to prisoners of war which is rough, opposite of what the church at Corinth is like. He could possibly be referring to The Lachish reliefs which were recently found and put in a British museum. They are carvings in Ninevah showing Sennacherib defeating Judah and taking prisoners back to Ninevah. You can read about it in 2 Kings 18-19. Paul is telling the church to learn some humility and quit the division that is going on between them.
Prideful people must be warned of the dangers that are before them…but here's the problem: few people genuinely think they are prideful and apart from God's word, you'll never see the truth. Daniel 5 helps us see what pride looks like and cautions us to beware of any pride that rests in our hearts.

What is happiness, and where is it to be found? Happy are the repentant, for we own the kingdom of heaven! What makes us repentant people happy? 1. We are not poor (we own the kingdom!), rather we are poor in spirit. 2. We know we have nothing to give for our spiritual debts, nothing to say to our judge, yet we are rich. 3. We know that we need God, or we die, and we have God! Individual or group application: How is our attitude, our 'spirit'? Rich or poor? Prideful or humble? Who is responsible for turning our debts into riches? When do we need Jesus in a such a dire way that we die without Him?

Leftists take pride in talking down America. It's clear in everything they go.It's sinister, when you consider the number of fronts they attack. For example, the Super Bowl.I'm not dwelling on the Super Bowl, because I know that's what the Left wants. Everything they attack is for a much bigger reason than stated.Democrats are fawning over Bad Bunny. And you have to ask yourself why? The guy is disgusting. He's not the second coming of Elvis or the Beatles. In fact, I will make you a bet that BB will be a nobody very soon. He will be the covid of performers, with people hardly caring about him.But whatever promise he has, why would the NFL hire him? The Kaepernick people. They just got their audience back, and I'm not even sure why because they didn't earn it. They remain “woke”, as the hiring of BB more than suggests.Megyn Kelly questioned the decision in an interview with Piers Morgan. She asked why have an entertainer who does a show all in Spanish? Send a textTopic: Pride vs. Prideful & When You're More Mad Than the Person Involved In this episode of Relationship Reality Podcast, we unpack two relationship dynamics that quietly destroy communication, connection, and peace if left unchecked: pride vs. pridefulness and misplaced anger. We break down the difference between having pride—which protects your values, boundaries, and self-respect—and being prideful, where ego takes over and blocks growth, accountability, and healing. Then we ask the uncomfortable but necessary question: Can you be more mad than the person actually involved? From relationships and marriages to friendships and family situations, we explore how carrying outrage that isn't yours can escalate conflict, distort reality, and turn support into sabotage. In this conversation, we challenge listeners to examine: • When pride becomes a wall instead of a backbone • How ego disguises itself as loyalty or protection • Why being overly angry might signal unresolved personal triggers • The difference between defending someone and projecting your own pain This episode is a mirror—not a lecture. Because sometimes the real issue isn't what happened… it's who we became while reacting to it.Support the show
Pride among Catholic men rarely looks like arrogance. What men don't realize is that it surfaces as control, self-reliance, withdrawal, or even habits that appear virtuous on the surface. In this episode of The Catholic Gentleman, John Heinen and Devin Schadt are joined by Patrick O'Hearn to examine why pride is so difficult to recognize in ourselves, and why it quietly blocks growth in the spiritual life, marriage, and leadership. They unpack why the Litany of Humility remains one of the Church's most demanding prayers, and how it exposes attachments that many men don't realize they're carrying.

One of the biggest concerns Christian writers have about building a writing platform is pride. Is it prideful to attach your name to your work? Does promoting your writing mean you're really just promoting yourself? In this episode, we tackle those questions head-on and look at what Scripture says about pride, humility, and having an accurate view of ourselves as writers. You'll learn how to distinguish true humility from false humility, how to examine your motives without becoming paralyzed, and how promoting your writing can be an act of faithful stewardship rather than self-exaltation.Links and resources:Learn more about working with me as your writing coach.Sign up for Pen Points, a weekly email to encourage you in your writing.Watch the podcast on YouTube.Read the blog version of the podcast.Download the “Christian Writer's Mindset Makeover”.The Purposeful Pen is a weekly podcast for Christian writers designed to help you build a writing life with eternal impact. Main Theme: True unity is powerful — whether for good or evil — but only unity built on obedience to God's Word can stand. Using Genesis 11 (Tower of Babel) and John 17 (Jesus' prayer for believers), Pastor Matthew taught that prideful unity seeks to glorify man, while holy unity glorifies God. The sermon called believers to become “one” with God, within themselves, and with one another, through humility and obedience. Man's Pride and the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1–9) Humanity once shared one language and one goal — to build a city and tower “whose top is in the heavens.” This unity was not righteous; it was rooted in pride and self-exaltation. “Let us make a name for ourselves.” — the cry of human arrogance. Pastor explained that Nimrod led this effort, motivated by defiance against God's authority and fear of another flood. Historian Josephus wrote that Nimrod's goal was to build a tower taller than any future flood could reach. Humanity still acts the same way today — building monuments, chasing power, and seeking fame — revealing that “man's heart hasn't changed.” Lesson: “You can build something big without God — but it won't last.” God's Response — Confusion and Division God “came down” to see what man had built — emphasizing His sovereignty: “They tried to build up, but He had to come down to see it.” The Lord noted their unity: “Nothing they propose to do will be withheld from them.” Unity, even for evil, is powerful. So God confused their language to protect mankind from greater rebellion. This was not destruction, but mercy through disruption — scattering people before sin could multiply unchecked. “The only thing that reached heaven from Babel was their sin.” Two Kinds of Unity Pastor contrasted two types of unity: Worldly unity – Prideful, self-glorifying, built on rebellion (Babel). Godly unity – Humble, self-denying, built on obedience (Christ). “It's powerful to be unified, even for the wrong reason — but it's holy when you're unified for the right one.” He warned that even evil movements gain momentum through unity, while the Church often loses ground because of division. The greatest form of unity begins with God Himself — aligning our will with His. “You'll never be unified with people until you're first unified with God.” Humility and the Example of Abraham Abraham's humility contrasted Babel's pride: He let Lot choose the better land, trusting God's promise instead of striving for position. “Abraham pitched his tent and built his altar — Lot pitched his tent and lost everything.” God told Abraham, “I will make your name great.” The key difference: Abraham waited on God to exalt him; Babel tried to exalt itself. Pastor connected this to Jesus' humility — who sought the Father's glory, not His own. “Jesus didn't look for fame; He looked for the Father's confirmation.” Jesus' Prayer for Unity (John 17:1–14) In John 17, Jesus prayed that His followers would be one as He and the Father are one. Unity is rooted in shared obedience and shared glory — not shared opinion. “If we don't care who gets the credit, we'll stay unified.” Jesus' request: “Glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You.” “Keep them through Your name that they may be one as We are one.” Pastor emphasized that Jesus prayed not for the world, but for those who belong to God — the Church that would reach the world through unity and truth. Lesson: “Unity doesn't mean sameness — it means shared purpose: glorifying God.” The Anatomy of Unity — Spirit, Soul, and Body Every believer must first be unified within themselves: Spirit (where the Holy Spirit dwells). Soul (mind, will, emotions). Body (the vessel of action). Without spiritual renewal, the soul leads — driven by emotion, intellect, and will. The Holy Spirit must rule the soul to align the believer with God's will. “You'll never be unified outwardly until you're unified inwardly.” Pastor described how old thought patterns (like “grooved paths” in the brain) must be renewed by the Word. “You've got to cut new paths in your mind — let the Holy Spirit groove His will into your thinking.” Godly Unity in Practice Starts in the home: Division between husbands and wives hinders prayer. Spreads to the Church: True revival requires believers who care more about obedience than credit. Extends to the nation: Real healing begins when unity is built around God's Word, not politics or culture. “Our rallying point is not religion, denomination, or last name — it's the Word of God.” Call to Action and Prayer Pastor closed with a call for repentance and restoration of unity: Individuals: Be reconciled to God through Christ. Marriages: Break division; walk as one. Churches: Give glory to God alone. Nations: Return to truth and righteousness. “The devil divides Christians, but unites evil causes. We must reverse that.” Core Message Unity is powerful — even when used wrongly. Godly unity begins with humility, obedience, and surrender. Pride builds towers; faith builds altars. To be one with others, first be one with God. The Church's greatest strength is not its size or sound — it's its unity in the Spirit and truth.

Many people are hiding behind the name Jesus and the name God, yet it's for their own glory and not for the Glory of God! It is the very reason souls aren't being changed. People are more focused on pleasing and appeasing man than God! They want man to believe they're God fearing Christians when it's clear they're aren't but many people can't see it because they too aren't connected to Jesus and therefore don't really know God for themselves!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/relationships-and-relatable-life-chronicles--4126439/support.

In this standalone message, we will take a fresh look at a popular Bible story- the prodigal son. As we do, we will be challenged to evaluate our propensity to rebel against God and our predisposition of pride. We will remember that our hope, as always, is in Jesus. He pursues the undeserving and invites us to be free of unfulfillment and bitterness that would otherwise define our lives because of our sin. Key Verses: Luke 15:11-32

Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com George Eliot the celebrated novelist from the 18th century was quoted as saying about a man “He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow”. Don't you hate people with pride… unless pride is a good thing… can pride be a good thing?? Well thats where were going today! Yesterday afternoon my grandkids came over to the house. My son told me I needed to go up to find my grandson and ask him about his day… My grandson was telling me a story but did not want to sound proud… I assured him - sometimes pride is a good thing - and thats where were going today. Grandson story… led a boy to Christ. “In God we trust”. While the Bible overwhelmingly condemns "pride" in the sense of arrogance, haughtiness, self-exaltation, and a defiant attitude towards God, there are a few instances where a concept akin to "pride" or "boasting" carries a more positive, or at least neutral, connotation. However, it's crucial to understand the nuance, as these are generally not referring to the sinful "pride" that God opposes. Here's a breakdown: 1. Boasting in the Lord/God's Work: The New Testament, particularly the Apostle Paul's writings, speaks of a "boasting" that is acceptable and even encouraged. This isn't about exalting oneself, but rather about exalting God and what He has done. 2 Corinthians 10:17: "But 'let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.'" This verse, echoing Jeremiah 9:23-24, emphasizes that any true "boasting" or "pride" should be in God's wisdom, might, and righteousness, not our own. Romans 15:1: Paul says, "Therefore I have reason to be proud of my work for God in Christ Jesus." Here, the "pride" is in the work God has enabled him to do, giving credit to God. 2 Corinthians 7:4: Paul states, "I have the highest confidence in you, and I take great pride in you. You have greatly encouraged me and made me happy despite all our troubles." This is a sense of satisfaction and joy in the spiritual growth and faith of the Corinthian believers, which is ultimately attributed to God's work in them. I have a friend I boast in all the time… and he boasts about himself as well - as he should. He was a raging porn addict, alcoholic, anger, demon possessed and a terrible father and husband… and literally almost over night God changed him… He is now one of my elders in my church… I Love when this man brags about all that God has done in him. I brag about the fact that God can use a knuckle dragger like me to win people to Christ. God is a pretty cool God… there I am bragging again. 2. Healthy Self-Assessment (without comparison or self-exaltation): Some interpretations suggest that there can be a sense of satisfaction in one's own efforts or accomplishments, as long as it's not rooted in comparison with others or a spirit of self-sufficiency apart from God. Galatians 6:4: "Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else." This verse can be understood as encouraging a healthy self-evaluation and satisfaction in one's own diligent work, without falling into the trap of comparing oneself to others, which often leads to either sinful pride or discouragement. Last year I won about 200 people to Christ. This year I am shooting for more than 200… I am not sure but would like to hit 300. I am also shooting to hit 1000 people in the next year in church attendance. I am planning on starting a Saturday night service and we will have 3 services total. I am bragging at what God has done in me and through me… and I am comparing myself to where I was at a year ago. It does two things… it helps me remember what is possible - so I will continue to push harder and take greater steps of faith. And secondly, it helps me speak into other peoples lives and let them know if God can use me… he can use anybody. In essence, the Bible strongly warns against pride that elevates self and opposes God. However, it allows for a sense of positive satisfaction or "boasting" when it is rooted in humility and directed towards acknowledging God's grace, power, and accomplishments through us or in others. The key is where the focus lies – on oneself or on God.

We often have to be among the best to be chosen. But what if we're not the best? Or even close to it? Good thing for us that Jesus isn't like that. He didn't choose the best and the brightest. Instead, he picked people just like us: sinful, complicated people who sometimes aren't even considered good. Or, in the case of the apostle Peter, Jesus picked proud people who talked too much. WHY would Jesus do that? Through the story of Peter, Pastor Mike gives a message of hope to those who can relate to the prideful Peter.
