ANDREW-MARK THOMPSON on the voices behind the puppets.First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on March 16th 2025.This week we welcome back our old friend ANDREW-MARK THOMPSON who's making a much-postponed return to VISION ON SOUND. ANDY is the one of our regular contributors to the show who I feel is our expert on all things to do with the GERRY ANDERSON productions of which he is an enormous fan, so, when DAVID GRAHAM, the much loved actor responsible for giving us the voices of PARKER and BRAINS in THUNDERBIRDS - as well as a whole host of other brilliant performances - died in September last year at the grand old age of ninety-nine, we had planned to get together and record a show in his honour, but various gremlins got into the works, so it never happened.Instead we attempted to regroup in January and broaden our scope into a discussion about the many actors who performed in series such as FOUR FEATHER FALLS, FIREBALL XL5, THUNDERBIRDS, CAPTAIN SCARLET and, most particularly STINGRAY, so that's what we attempted to do during the next hour, as we discuss, amongst others, the work of names such as RAY BARRETT, SHANE RIMMER, LOIS MAXWELL, and, of course the wonderful DAVID GRAHAM. You may not have known some of their faces, but their voices shaped a generation. Now, obviously, those gremlins really don't appreciate a tryer, and, despite our persistence, there were still some sound issues during this recording, for which I can only apologise, and which all seems somewhat ironic, given that we were simply trying to talk about voice performers, and the great joy they brought to people over the years.Anyway, because we had such an enjoyable hour, I've done my best to salvage what I could, and I hope that you'll find this fun conversation worth sticking with despite any of the slight sound issues that there may still be.PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.
Staring Noel Willman, Ray Barrett, Jennifer Daniel and Jacqueline ‘Servalan' Pearce, The Reptile is based in the fictional village of Clagmoor Heath in Cornwall where several locals are dying from what is deemed to be the "Black Death". Harry Spalding inherits his late brother Charles' cottage and arrives with his new bride, Valerie. The inhabitants of the village keep clear of the couple and only the publican, Tom Bailey, befriends them. Tom explains that the hostility exhibited by the townspeople is the result of many mysterious deaths in the community. The sinister Dr. Franklyn, the owner of the nearby Well House, is the only resident in the vicinity of the cottage, and he lives with his daughter Anna and her menagerie of ‘pets'. Franklyn treats Anna with cruel contempt, and she is attended by a silent Malay servant. The production was filmed by Hammer, back to back with The Plague of the Zombies, using many of the same sets, including exterior shots in the grounds of Oakley Court near Bray, Berkshire (seen burning in the final frames). As documented in books on Hammer Film's history, Jacqueline Pearce disliked wearing the Infamous Reptile make-up as she suffered from claustrophobia. After this film, she vowed never to wear "creature" make-up in her future acting projects. The film was released in 1966 and in some markets was shown in a double feature with Rasputin, the Mad Monk.$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$Just in case anyone has too much money and wants to give a bit to us to help with our hosting n stuff. So good to be back after quite a hiatus. As our field is rapidly changing due to the Covid 19 Pandemic and therapists all over the world are being forced to work from home, I thought it would be a great idea to put out a few new episodes. And I couldn't think of a better guest that Raymond Barrett. He is the founder of Telehealth Certification Institute and has been training therapist on TeleMental health for years. He is incredibly knowledgeable about how the regulations are changing in the last few days and I'm thrilled he could join us and keep us up to date. And he has put together a huge Online Therapy Summit – a weekend of classes that will provide continuing education training. The link to his site and to the summit is below: https://telementalhealthtraining.com/ https://telementalhealthtraining.com/course-offerings/product/summit-2020-full-access

Ray Barrett, founder and CEO of Telehealth Certification Institute, LLC, joins us to talk about what has changed and improved in telemental health. Most clinicians use some form of technology in both the operation of their practice and in providing services to clients. However, most graduate programs do not cover the competencies of using technology in practice. As the field of telemental health continues to expand, its growth has created a wealth of questions and uncertainties that behavioral health professionals face: topics such as ethics, best practices, state (and interstate) regulations, and skills needed when providing behavioral health services, just to name a few.Since 2007, Ray Barrett, LMHC, LPC has developed several courses for behavioral health professionals on the topic of telemental health. He has provided extensive training in telemental heath services in private practices, for facilities and for an EAP program. Ray is both a practitioner and trainer and his aim is to fill every knowledge gap as it arises and he ensures his course content is kept updated. Trainees find Ray to be very approachable, available and knowledgeable and he appreciates hearing from individual participants in order to fulfill their specific needs and so that he can incorporate that information into the training programs. He has presented on telebehavioral health at several conferences and assisted many organizations to create. launch, and enhance their telemental health programs.www.telementalhealthtraining.com
