Today marks the conclusion of a show that ¾ of the Loud Murmurs team have followed for eight entire years: Game of Thrones. (The very first episode aired in 2011, when we were still wee freshmen in college!)It’s no exaggeration to ascribe such significance to a single show -- GOT has dominated our screens (big or small) as well as the public discourse on pop culture for the better of a decade. In today’s episode, we invited a good friend, Danmiao, to join our two hosts Diaodiao and Ina to pay tribute to this fantasy-historical-drama. We discuss the show up to S8E4, and dive deep into our favorite characters and their journey in the seven kingdoms -- both the physical journey they undertake as well as the character development arc that the writers constructed for them. Of course, we also discuss our thoughts on the current season and our thoughts on the writing (it’s not great). Highlights:Why the Night King is the most environmentally-friendly global leader in all of the seven kingdomsHow’s the political arena in Westeros treating our women politicians: Dany, Sansa, and Cersei? How effective is Jon Snow’s “Winter is Coming” campaign slogan? As always, thanks for listening! Spring has officially sprung, and this week the friends are in full bloom. Car & Ken start by Doing An Accidental Learning on hometown geography & grammar. They also meander down memory lane with high school truths & the lessons of cutting corners. In Beefy News, the friends begin a conversation, sure to be ongoing. Like the subject itself, the discussion is imperfect—sometimes hard—but important to start, as navigating mental health is an intrical part of Doing A Good in this life. SPOILER ALERT: The Throne Zone runs from 27:40 - 37:50 and covers S8 E4 & also calls out the haters. If you want to participate in the conversation on mental health, need support from a friend, or just to talk: doingagood@gmail.com

Talking Through Some Guy On this episode of The Walking Dead Talk Through, we discuss Season 8, Episode 4 of The Walking Dead, which is titled Some Guy, and the post-Ruthie period of this podcast begins. For the rest of this half-season, through Episode 8 in December, TWDTT will feature a core of rotating guest hosts. For this episode, I am joined by Allison Fike of The Dead Connection, and long-time listener, Malika Tazi! I think you’ll agree that both Allie and Malika were great discussing this episode! Ezekiel went through a lot!!! Carol got her groove back!!! SPOILER!!! In this episode, King Ezekiel tried to renounce his throne, after losing lost most of his guard, and his beloved Shiva. I know that affected many of you were affected by this loss. It was heartbreaking, but I guess it seemed that Shiva could have gotten away made me a little less affected. Well, that, and the fact that I got spoiled about this episode, but you’ll have to listen to find out more! On nicer things that we saw in this episode, it was good to see Carol in Season 5 & 6 form again, kicking ass as only she can! Ratings are up Some Guy got a 3.88 in the 18-49 demographic, with 8.688 million viewers, up from 3.79 and 8.519 million viewers last week. Early Feedback Deadline We will have another early feedback deadline this week, so please leave your feedback by 6 pm Eastern/5 Central on Monday, Nov. 20th for S8E5, titled The Big Scary U. Although the guest host schedule is already booked until the mid-season finale, I could always use more people to add to the stand by list, plus we may do additional hiatus episodes. If you’re interested in appearing as a guest, please contact me. Most likely, the permanent co-host will be from one of the guests you’ll hear during this period. Only one co-host will be chosen! Norman Reedus Autograph Giveaway!!! Allie let us know that her website, The Dead Connection, is having an incredible autograph giveaway this month, and wants to encourage you to sign up! They have giveaways every month, but this particular one is special because it’s none

Talking Through Monsters We discuss Season 8 Episode 3 of The Walking Dead, titled Monsters. The topic of our discussion this week. A season 1 character that returned at the end of the last episode can’t compete with the return of Morgan. Then again, he gets killed off anyway, so it doesn’t really matter. Speaking of Morgan, he might be losing his mind so he runs off. Daryl reacts ruthlessly so Rick won’t have to. Maggie makes a decision about Gregory the snake and also about the future of Savior prisoners. Ezekiel and Carol strike some blows to the enemy, but end up walking into a bad situation at the end. A TWD Talk Through announcement… At the end of this episode, Ruthie made an announcement. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you about it here. Ruthie has decided to step down as co-host of The Walking Dead Talk Through. She has a new job that came with a schedule change that makes podcasting more difficult. She wants to thank all of you listeners over the past three years of doing the podcast for listening to us, and all of your support and admiration. We had a lot of fun doing this podcast together over the years, and I will miss doing this with her, especially when I gave her belly laughs! Since we recorded, Kyle, co-host of Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, has decided not to take over permanent co-host. Instead, Kyle will remain behind the scenes, providing me with support throughout the season, as he has been doing with editing, images and some of the blog work. This support has been instrumental in allowing me to produce/host two podcasts for TV shows that are on Sunday nights (The Star Trek Discovery Podcast being the other), and I couldn’t do this podcast right now without that support. He will return as co-host for Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through Season 4!!! For the next five weeks, I will be hosting each episode of The Walking Dead Talk Through with two guest hosts. Some have appeared on this podcast before, while many others have not. Although the schedule is already booked until the mid-season finale, I could always use more people to add to the stand by list. If you’re interested, please contact me. Shifting Feedback Deadline To that end, I am needing to rearrange the recording schedule for some of these weeks, and the feedback deadline will need to be changed during those weeks. To that end, please leave your feedback by 5 pm Eastern/4 Central on Monday, Nov. 13th for S8E4, titled Some Guy. After the mid-season finale, I plan to announce who the new co-host will be. If one hasn’t been determined, I’ll continue to do more episodes during the hiatus with guest hosts until a successor can be named. However, make no mistake, the search for a permanent co-host is already well underway! Ratings are down Monsters got a 3.79 in the 18-49 demographic, with 8.519 million viewers, which is down from last week‘s 3.99 and 8.923 million viewers.
