This week on The Monday Edit, we have a very special guest joining in on the Monday fun: best selling author Anna Malaika Tubbs stopped by to tell us all about her new book, Erased: What American Patriarchy Has Hidden from Us and helps us hone in on real time examples of our Patriarchy is being weaponized today. Anna unpacks how the United States has constructed a unique—and often invisible—gendered hierarchy, one that is inextricably linked to whiteness and a deeply flawed binary system. From the founding fathers to the current Supreme Court, from the erasure of women in the Constitution to the ongoing fight for the Equal Rights Amendment, Dr. Tubbs reveals the mechanisms that have kept women's contributions hidden and their voices suppressed. Anna Malaika Tubbs is a scholar, advocate, and bestselling author (The Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation) whose work brings a fresh, urgent perspective on American history and its gendered systems. With a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Masters in Multidisciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelors in Medical Anthropology from Stanford University, Anna translates her academic knowledge into clear and engaging stories. Her articles have been published by TIME Magazine, New York Magazine, CNN, Motherly, The Huffington Post, For Harriet, The Guardian, Darling Magazine, and Blavity. Anna's storytelling also takes form in her talks, including her TED Talk that has been viewed 2 million times, as well as the scripted and unscripted screen projects she has in development. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, former Mayor of Stockton, CA Michael Tubbs and their three young children. Not A Phase. Steve Harvey has advice for: Pete in Brooklyn: "I got caught texting another woman. I met the woman at a birthday party over the weekend. I know I shouldn’t have cared if she got home safely but it was 2am so I asked her to text me when she made it home. My wife doesn’t believe my story but it’s plain as day in my texts. I was being a gentleman and I feel like my wife should respect that. Why does she check my phone anyway? Should I be upset too?" Malika in the IE: "I met a guy online and all he talks about is how he’s about to blow up and make a lot of money as soon as his invention is patented. He said it’s a top secret invention so he can’t share it with me. It’s giving “brokey” to me but I don’t want to leave him right before he makes his first million. Should I stick with him or is he wasting my time?" Steve Harvey Morning Show Online: http://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this week's episode, Emmy-winning ESPN sports reporter Malika Andrews opens up about her deeply personal journey with mental health - one that led her to spend over three years away from her family in search of healing. She shares how anxiety, depression, and disordered eating shaped her early years, the first warning signs that something wasn't right, and what ultimately led her to therapy. Malika reflects on her time at a wilderness camp and an all-girls boarding school, the impact of missing out on her teen years, and whether being sent away helped or made healing harder. She also discusses how horseback riding became a powerful tool in her recovery, offering her a sense of peace and connection when she needed it most. Malika dives into the self-care practices that keep her grounded and why she sees mental health as an ongoing journey rather than a “before and after” story. Finally, she reveals one moment in her life she wishes she could go back to and what she would say to herself.Be sure to follow Malika https://instagram.com/malika_andrews/!To email us your questions or share your story, you can reach out to lautner.thesqueezepodcast@gmail.comBe sure to rate, review, and follow the podcast so you don't miss an episode! In this second part of my conversation with my big sister Malika, we dive into what it means to share in the sufferings of Christ and how that shapes our lives. We also explore how to walk the walk of faith, even in moments when we feel faithless. If the journey of faith depends on hearing God's voice, how do we recognize when He speaks. Malika shares practical ways she hears God's voice, and I add a few insights of my own. I pray this episode blesses and encourages you!

Yay! My big sister Malika has finally joined me on the podcast. Her visit last week gave us the perfect chance to sit down for a chat. Malika has such a pure heart for living in right relationship with God. This discussion was so rich, I had to break it into two episodes. In this first part, Malika opens up about her journey of leaving behind a successful music career to follow God's calling—what that decision taught her, why it's not a path everyone is called to, and how God meets each of us right where we are. She also shares insights about trusting God's timing for His promises, navigating the waiting seasons, and the miraculous transformation that happens when you give your life to Jesus—both the instant breakthroughs and the slower, deeper work He does over time.
