Exactly 1,993 years ago on that exact day Christ rose from the grave.    Walking through the cemetery as a kid at night… We fear death.. Not birth Not life But death… we can't relate.   I could claim to be born as a God I could claim to live as a God I could claim to die as a God But am I willing to CLAIM to resurrect 3 days later to prove it…   But because he did resurrect we now no longer need to fear death. He conquered it, he made a fool of it, he said where is your sting oh death. Thats all you got? And why wait 3 days until you come back to life?       1. Ancient Medical Understanding: When is someone truly dead?   In the ancient world (including Jewish and Greco-Roman thought), people didn't have modern tools to confirm death (no EEG, no heart monitors). So they relied on observable signs:   What they looked for:   * No breathing * No pulse (very hard to detect accurately) * Body cooling * **Onset of decomposition**   The key issue: People could appear dead and revive (coma, shock, hypothermia)   So there was always a lingering fear: “What if they weren't really dead?”   2. Why “Three Days” Became a Cultural Threshold**   In Jewish thought, there was a widespread belief (not formal doctrine, but common teaching) that:   The soul hovered near the body for about 3 days**   After that:   * The body began to visibly decay * The soul was considered fully departed * Death was **final and irreversible**   You see this hinted at in the story of Lazarus:   “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” (John 11:39)   That's not just a detail—it's a theological statement: “This is beyond recovery. This is real death.”     3. Modern Medical Insight: Decomposition Timeline   Even today, decomposition supports why 3 days is significant:   Within ~72 hours after death:   Rigor mortis comes and goes Autolysis** (cells breaking down) accelerates Putrefaction begins (bacteria causing decay) Odor becomes noticeable   By day 3, the body is unmistakably dead.   So even by modern standards: Three days removes doubt.     4. The Power of the Resurrection Timing   Jesus didn't rise immediately. That's critical.   If He rose:   * After a few hours → skeptics say “He fainted” * After one day → “Maybe He wasn't fully dead”   But after three days: It destroys every natural explanation.   This is why the resurrection isn't just miraculous—it's strategically undeniable.   5. Biblical Pattern: “Third Day” = Divine Intervention   The “third day” shows up all over Scripture as the moment God acts decisively:   * Hosea 6:2 — “On the third day He will raise us up” * Jonah 1:17 — Jonah in the fish 3 days * Genesis 22 — Abraham receives Isaac back (figuratively) on the third day   The pattern: Day 1 = loss Day 2 = silence Day 3 = God moves   Jesus steps into that pattern and fulfills it.   6. Roman Execution Certainty   From a historical standpoint:   * Roman crucifixion was brutally efficient * Executioners ensured death (piercing, blood loss, asphyxiation) * Bodies weren't casually misdiagnosed   So combine:   * Roman certainty of death * 3 days in the tomb * Sealed grave   The resurrection claim becomes *maximally bold*.   Bottom Line (Teaching Power Statement)   Three days wasn't random. It was intentional.   It ensured that:   * No one could argue Jesus merely fainted * Death had fully taken its course * Resurrection could only be explained as supernatural     “Jesus didn't come back early—He waited until death had fully won… and then He crushed it.”

When a nation or a people forsake the Lord, collapse is inevitable. We are in need of a King whose reign will never fail: we have one, His name is Jesus. 

In this monologue episode, LDF host Dan Wotherspoon shares some of his recent thinking about the ways Western Christianity has  misinterpreted (or ignored) his actual teachings in such a way that we have the rise of Christian Nationalism, increased Patriarchy, name calling, scapegoating, devastating harm to individuals and families, and the notion that Christians have the right to pass judgment on everything! Dan approaches these issues by first asking if Christianity is right about its views that the primary problem in the world is sin (particularly individual sin), which therefore requires a "Savior" to overcome the effects of it and allow us to be "saved." Dan takes us through a fast survey of other religious traditions that don't see "sin" as the primary problem. Eastern traditions don't talk about it in any depth, naming instead things like people being out of harmony with the Tao, out of balance with one's surroundings, suffering because crave things to go the way we want them to but never will, etc. These traditions produce many adherents who are transformed, who see clearly, act harmoniously, are compassionate, eschew violence, and so forth. We Christians might say they are "Christlike," yet we know they became so without any thought of "sin" and "Saviors." So how do we see Jesus and his work differently? As we read scripture, we see that he proposed the two great commandments as forms of "Love." Wholehearted, fully conscious, love. He teaches of the virgins who were able to enter into his presence and why they were allowed. His responses to the temptations in the wilderness reveal much about him and what he is about, while also suggesting for us that we meet the challenges in our lives and fearfulness in the same way. He talks about the Kingdom of God being "within" us--not "out there" or a place to go to. And much more. Listen in! See if he makes a compelling argument that Christianity's ability to transform us in Godlike ways requires us to see Jesus and his actual messages in new ways.

Judges 17–18 shows how sincere worship can still be false when it's shaped by our preferences instead of God's truth. Micah creates a version of worship that looks spiritual but is ultimately self-made, turning his relationship with God into something transactional and controllable. In the end, what he built fails him, revealing that anything we elevate above God will eventually collapse and leave us empty

God raised Samson with a clear calling and incredible strength, yet his story shows how a person can be outwardly gifted but inwardly drifting from God. Instead of following the Lord's direction, Samson repeatedly pursued what was right in his own eyes, allowing small compromises to pull him further from obedience. His life warns us that spiritual strength doesn't come from our abilities, but from faithfully walking in God's ways.

You may be shocked to hear that Green Day have a lot of songs. Some may say, in fact, that they have too MANY songs, because there does come a point where they all just blend into on another. In this episode we explore this phenomenon, and it is exclusively (in our view) an issue that plagues the latter half of their career. We cover everything from American Idiot to Saviors, and whilst not all of these albums are afflicted in such a way, it definitely seems to become more prevalent as we more closer to the present era. Judges 10-11 explores Israel's repeated cycle of idolatry — abandoning God to serve false gods like Molech and Chemosh — and God's response of tough love followed by compassion when they genuinely repented. The core message is that idolatry means seeking from other things what only God can provide, and true repentance requires destroying those idols, not just setting them aside. The story of Jephthah illustrates how a flawed, unlikely person can be used by God, but also warns against treating God transactionally — making bargains rather than trusting His character. The sermon closes with a call to move from an "if/then" mindset to a "because/now" faith rooted in trust that God is fully committed to our good.

Judges 9 marks a dark turning point in Israel's history as the familiar cycle of sin, repentance, and deliverance collapses. Abimelech, Gideon's illegitimate son, seizes power through manipulation and violence, and when faithful leadership steps aside, Israel crowns a bramble instead. The result is destruction for both the king and the people who chose him, revealing how tolerated sin grows heavier over time and leadership vacuums invite corruption. Yet even in the collapse, God's justice and mercy remain, calling His people to repentance and true refuge under the rule of the rightful King.

Opponents say the legislation would disenfranchise millions of voters. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act — now dubbed the SAVE America Act - narrowly passed the U.S. House last week, with all Republicans and one Democrat backing the bill. In this message, we follow Gideon's story to see how starting well and finishing well aren't the same—especially after success. Gideon trusted God in weakness, but after victory he began relying on himself, chasing recognition, and building a “replacement” for dependence on the Lord. This is a warning about the spiritual danger of success and an invitation to return to prayer, accountability, and humble faith. Ultimately, we're pointed to Jesus—the true Savior who succeeds where we fail and calls us back to grace-filled dependence on God.

Judges 6–7 shows Israel caught in a cycle of spiritual decline, hardship, and crying out to God. The message highlights how faith can fade across generations, and how God uses unlikely people like Gideon to bring deliverance. Even when God's plans seem confusing or impossible, He confirms His calling and proves His power. The takeaway: trust God—He is faithful, big enough, and His plans are always right.

God alone deserves the praise that results from a life of faith in practice.. We should live with a mindset of obedience and faith, recognizing that we're not alone as we follow. God goes before, God works His will, and we give Him praise. 

God is not as predictable as we often seem to make Him out to be. He is sovereign over all; and that includes sin, evil, and suffering. God will stop at nothing to redeem His people, and works in mysterious ways to accomplish that goal. He is always seeking our trust, and will work in the necessary ways to foster our dependance on Him.

Judges 2 show God's people slowly drift from Him through partial obedience, forgetting He is Lord across generations, yet are relentlessly pursued by a faithful, rescuing God.  

Our perspective on Jesus life often is of a man who has been given all the tools to succeed in his ministry especially early on. Zach Bukolt shares a view from the Saviors youth and one more reason to trust the God that allowed Himself to experience the same things we do.

As Christians, we have been saved and given an inheritance that we will experience more and more as we're sanctified by the Holy Spirit, grown to emulate Christ, and work to mature in their faith.

The Cramps, led by the husband and wife team of Lux Interior and Poison Ivy Rorschach, had one one mission: To save rock n' roll from the corporate monsters who threatened its destruction.
