In the story of the prodigal son both brothers are "in it" for what they can get from the Father, not a relationship with the Father. What motives you? Which brother are you right now? Maybe the story was never supposed to be about the sons but about the Father.

Jesus often talked about things lost. In His tireless efforts to reach them, He delivered striking parables about different things that were lost and found. Join Pastor Jeff as he talks about “The Lost Coin.” This is NOT a salvation message per se, but one that will speak directly to the church in a powerful, faith building way!

All ministry begins with people feeling welcomed, accepted, and safe. Jesus modeled this type of ministry. As a church, it is important that we understand that every person has a role in the body life of a local congregation to make our church welcoming, accepting, and safe for others; we all have a role in establishing an atmosphere that sets the tone for effective ministry to take place.

We tend to think in “us” and “them” categories in life and this can distance ourselves from people who are not like us. The same distance can exist with Christians. However, to be effective in evangelism we must learn from Jesus who bridged the distance with people and spent time with “them.”

Is it possible that all our "Christian" terminology, as well as our fear of not knowing the Bible well enough prevents us from effectively sharing our faith? What if introducing people to Jesus has little or nothing to do with church, Bible, evangelism, or even being a Christian--and everything to do with Jesus!
