In this episode of the Behind the Mike Podcast, host Mike Stone discusses a letter written to the CEO of Cracker Barrel about its recent logo change and the deeper meaning behind it. Mike explains that while the man in the letter was missing the feeling of "home" the old logo provided, his longing points to a universal human need for something real and rooted. He argues that this "homesickness" is not just nostalgia for the past but a longing for a relationship with God, who is our true home and remains constant while the world changes.Behind the Mike Podcast website:https://behindthemike.net#crackerbarrel #logo #home #homesick #heaven #faith #nostalgia #bible #behindthemikepodcast Timestamped Chapter List00:00:00 - Introduction: A story about Cracker Barrel's logo and the feeling of home.00:01:10 - The letter from Derek Dickens: A man's longing for home.00:03:01 - The cultural yearning for something real: Beyond logos and social media.00:04:06 - Connecting the dots: Homesickness points to God.00:05:33 - The unchanging nature of God.00:06:34 - A personal message: Finding true home in God.00:07:41 - Conclusion: Enjoy the biscuits, but remember what you're truly hungry for.Send us a textSupport the showWatch these podcasts on YouTube!Follow Us!YouTube: @behindthemikepodcastInstagram: @behindthemikepodcastTikTok: @behind_the_mike_podcastFacebook: @behindthemikepodcast

In this powerful episode, I'm joined by one of my incredible private clients, Xuan, for an honest and inspiring conversation about building a business on your terms. We dive deep into the mindset shifts that helped Xuan move from pressure and perfectionism to showing up online with joy, confidence, and authenticity. She shares how simplifying her approach, getting clear on her messaging, and choosing a business model that supports her slow, intentional lifestyle has completely transformed how she sells—and how she feels. We explore how reframing social media unlocked more sales, more ease, and even sparked new offer ideas, and how getting specific about her audience didn't limit her—it expanded everything. We also talk about the behind-the-scenes money mindset work that changed the game for her pricing, her confidence, and her income. This episode is a beautiful reminder that your business gets to feel aligned, intentional, and deeply fulfilling—and that building a strong foundation before the quantum leap might just be the most powerful move of all. In 1997, the Mi'kmaq Nation took over on-reserve education in Nova Scotia. It was the first time in Canadian history that jurisdiction for education was transferred from the federal government to a First Nation. One year later, Eskasoni First Nation high school opened, and since then, the school has become an epicentre for Mi'kmaq language revitalization. This episode is the second in a two-part series on language revitalization.
My dad gave me a lovely compliment today when he was over for a cup of tea and piece of banana bread - he said that my home is inviting and relaxing and 'feels like home'.And it got me thinking about watching "With love, Meaghan" on Netflix this week and how having a home where people feel welcome and relaxed is such a beautiful goal - above having it perfect, or minimalist or styled etc. That how you feel in your home, and how others feel in your home is more important than if the paint is outdated or the dishes don't match.Have a think about what helps you feel like your house is a home, both for you and your guests. Forget what other people, or the media might tell you is important - what is important to you? And go for that! Enjoying your home isn't about it being perfect, or always clean, or always having fresh cookies, it's about how you feel and how you want to feel. "Doing Church as a Family" advocates for a transformative approach to church life, emphasizing the importance of fostering a family-based model rather than adhering to the traditional "Fantasy Church" or "Factory Church" paradigms. This episode delves into the concept of spiritual parenting, focusing on the need to develop mature adults in faith rather than merely attracting new converts. With insights from Dr. Michael Brodeur's work, listeners will learn how to cultivate a culture characterized by intimacy, integrity, and intentionality within their church communities. Practical strategies such as establishing small groups and promoting intergenerational partnerships are discussed, aiming to create a supportive environment that nurtures genuine connections and leadership succession. Ultimately, the goal is to build a thriving church family that reflects God's love and purpose, enabling members to grow spiritually and contribute meaningfully to their community.Kingdom Encounter with Glenn Bleakney is a variety show consisting of teaching, discourses, and interviews on all things Kingdom. This is a season of reformation and revival. The Church must build on the foundations of the apostles and prophets preaching and teaching the Gospel of the Kingdom in the demonstration of the Spirit's power to all nations. Takeaways: The podcast emphasizes the importance of transforming churches into family-like communities for deeper connections. Fantasy and factory churches often prioritize appearance and structure over genuine relationships and impact. Spiritual parenting is essential for developing mature adults in faith rather than merely attracting converts. Creating small groups fosters intimacy and connection, contributing to a stronger church family atmosphere. Embracing values such as integrity, intentionality, and interdependence is crucial for healthy church dynamics. Service opportunities can empower individuals to contribute their unique gifts, enhancing community engagement. I just got back from Omega in Rhinebeck, NY, and wow—what an adventure! Despite some travel bumps, the fall scenery there was pure Hallmark magic. It got me reflecting on what makes a place feel like “home,” and why we're drawn to where we are. With the holiday season approaching, it's the perfect time to align with what truly feels like “home” to us. Take a moment, think about your intention, and let the angels guide you to the message that resonates. Let's all stay in that beautiful, grateful mindset this week as we embrace November together. Alex Lewis (@lewisalex10) is a poet and writer through his own popular newsletter “Feels Like Home” and Columbus Underground, as well as his projects like Car Window Poetry. If you're looking for a laid back conversation about why making your art for authentic reasons is enough to do them, this is the one for you! Alex is great as he shares his story of passion for writing at a young age, how he's translated that into his main creative avenue as an adult, and he shares a lot on how he's maintained that passion through lots of ups and downs and tempts of “internet fame” to take things in a different direction. We explore the balance between personal fulfillment and creating for others, navigating the pressures of sharing creative work, and the importance of staying true to your own path. Alex also shares a lot of great stuff on taking your time with your art, embracing life's ups and downs, and finding meaning in unexpected moments. ——THIS EPISODE IS SPONSORED BY—— PromoWest Productions - @promowestlive For all upcoming shows & event info of who's coming through Columbus, OH, visit promowestlive.com or to purchase tickets directly, visit AXS.com The Scatter Joy Project - @thescatterjoyproject The Scatter Joy Project is a local Columbus nonprofit focused on fighting for mental health.
