Pastor Scott and Jeremy sit with Lydia and Elizabeth about Youth Sunday and their testimonies... Ft. Lidia's mom
We sometimes forget that no Gentiles (i.e., non-Jewish folks) were present to receive the pouring out of the Holy Spirit during the first Pentecost. To be sure, eventually there would be Gentile followers of the Way of Jesus, and those Gentiles would be baptized with the fire of the Holy Spirit. The story of the Gentile Pentecost teaches us that, despite our perceptions of ourselves, we are not qualified to determine who is and isn't welcome at God's table. This Sunday, we are celebrating Youth Sunday in The Loft. The Grapple youth will participate in worship by leading prayer, reading scripture, and playing with the handbells. We are also excited that three of our graduating high school seniors, Oz, Lauren, and Will, will offer their reflections on the role that Westwood UMC has played in their lives. We hope that you can join us as we celebrate our amazing youth and youth leadership. www.TheLoftLA.org
This week continues our series that isn't really a series. Over these 7 weeks we're featuring sermons based on what God is saying to us these days. We're calling it our "Spring Mixtape 2025."In this Youth Sunday episode we get two messages for the price of one! We have the privilege of hearing from both Lydia and Elizabeth about what God has been and is doing in their lives.Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11-14, 1 Corinthians 10:23-33
This past Sunday was Youth Sunday at Restoration Community Church. Leela Norman gave a message on the Fruit of the Spirit. She sang with us, gave us anecdotes and walked us through what each fruit might look like in our everyday lives. Passages: Galatians 5:19-24
Our amazing students at High Pointe took over our Sunday worship services and led our church in worship and the message was brought by our Director of Student Ministries, Aandre McConell

Youth Sunday 2025 Ont Body, Many Parts 1 Cor. 12:12-27
The power of the foolishness of the Cross and The power of the weakness of Christ's followers propels us to live differently.1 Corinthians 1:18-31 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy thewisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debaterof this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? Forsince, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom,it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those whobelieve. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preachChrist crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but tothose who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God andthe wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and theweakness of God is stronger than men. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, notmany were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what isfoolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in theworld to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in theworld, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so thatno human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of himyou are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God,righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written,“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” We'd love to connect with you https://newlifephilly.churchcenter.com/people/forms/224507 Would you like Prayer today? https://newlifephilly.churchcenter.com/people/forms/382423We pray the New Life Philly Podcast encourages you today! Sunday Service - May 18, 2025 - Youth Sunday
“Anxiety” is the newest character addition to the Inside Out films and is the one that most resonated with people who viewed it. Throughout the Bible, people exhibited worry, from the Israelites wandering in the wilderness to the disciples who followed Jesus. But even though worry is a natural human emotion, it does not need to define our experience. We can, in the words of Jesus in Matthew, exchange our burdens with that of Jesus, whose yoke is easier.Reflection Questions:1. When was the last time you felt anxious but didn't name it out loud? What changed—or could have changed—if you had?2. What's one practice (spiritual or practical) that helps you feel grounded when anxiety hits?3. Who in your life could use a safe listener right now? And how can you be present for them without trying to fix it?Find out more at HydeParkUMC.org/NextSteps

Every year FPC takes one Sunday and recognizes our high school graduates and our youth in general. We call it Youth Sunday. Each year it's a different set of youth. Yet each year we're amazed at their growth and maturity. Shout out to their respective parents and villages in helping to raise such remarkable kids. Today we also launch a new sermon series called "Sent." It's apropos as we send out our youth into the world and see what kind of mark they make.

Some of our high school seniors will be our preachers for the day while other youth will lead in liturgy and prayer. They will proclaim the Word based on Luke 24:13-35, the Road to Emmaus. We'll hear about confused and disheartened disciples grappling with Jesus' death and the stories floating around about his resurrection while talking with a stranger they met on the road. Much to their surprise, this stranger in their midst was their beloved messiah who was at work amongst them in ways they least expected. Our youth will ask us to consider how God is at work even when we can't see it. Sermons delivered by Noah Brooks, Claire Chauhan, Lydia Ford, Isabella Tamburrino, and Kate Wolfkill on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
