In the parable of the prodigal son, we discover that God doesn't wait passively for us to find our way back. He actively pursues his lost children. When a wandering son finally comes home, his father doesn't just forgive him; he elevates him, clothes him in honor, and throws the party of a lifetime. This is the heart of God on full display: a love that restores, celebrates, and recreates everyone who comes home. If you've ever felt far from God, distant from your faith, or weighed down by your past, this message is for you."

We've been focusing on the first 3 chapters of Revelation and looking at 7 letters to 7 churches that are direct messages from Jesus to real first century churches in modern-day Turkey. Besides a few exceptions, the letters all contained four major parts: 1. Introduction – "I am the One..." 2. Commendation – "I know your works..." 3. Correction – "I have this against you..." 4. Promises – "To the one who overcomes..."   In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally considers what Jesus would say to us if we were to get a letter written from John?   Following the 4 sections of each Revelation letter, I want to give you 4 final timeless truths for us to respond to this morning:   1. Jesus knows you and He is everything you need. The first part of each letter was Jesus' introduction of Himself. Because He knows you, He knows what you need. Jesus is not only aware of our struggles, He is the solution to them. John 10:14 NLT  He doesn't diagnose your life from a distance, He steps into your life with you.   2. Jesus sees you and celebrates what's good. In every letter in Revelation, Jesus starts the same way—"I know your works." Before He corrects them, He commends them. Psalm 103:8-14 NLT  God isn't only your Judge, He's your Dad. He is not standing over you with a clipboard making note of all your mistakes. God doesn't just see where you failed; He sees where you fought. He doesn't only point out your mistakes; He celebrates your progress.   3. Jesus loves you enough to correct what's wrong.   God doesn't leave us where He found us. Correction is not rejection, it's redirection toward who you're becoming. Prov. 3:11-12 NLT  The enemy's voice brings shame, but God's voice brings change. God doesn't correct you because He's mad at you; He corrects you because He's committed to you.   4.  Jesus' promises for your future are greater than the failures of your past. Even though God corrected His churches, He always gave them a promise of something good that would happen if they repented and returned. Overcomers aren't those who never fall, but those who refuse to stay down. 2 Peter 1:4 NLT God's promises are activated by obedience. Obedience turns a promise from possibility to a guarantee.   On the other side of your obedience is a version of your life you haven't seen yet, but it's what you really want. Jesus knows you, and He is everything you need. Jesus sees and He celebrates what's good. Jesus loves you enough to correct what's wrong. And Jesus has promised something greater if you respond.   And VFC is not just a church with a past to celebrate; we're a church with a promise to step into. Respond, repent, and return.   Do you have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to you?

In this episode we jump back into our journey through Luke together, picking up in Luke 11:1-13. In this passage, Jesus continues to prepare His disciples for His departure by teaching his disciples how to pray. Together we discuss how this passage helps shape a proper orientation in prayer (who God is, and who we are), a proper orientation in persistence (keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking), and a proper orientation in God's response to our persistence (God is a good Father who gives good gifts). As His children, we must remember that we don't know it all and cannot see it all, but He can, and, through the Holy Spirit, we have the opportunity to follow after Him in everything.

Description: In Part 16 of Relationships in HD, Pastor Eric turns to one of the most misunderstood aspects of love: discipline. Drawing from his own life as a dad, granddad, and former “strong-willed kid,” he shows how God's discipline is never random, never petty, and never about venting anger—it is always formative, always purposeful, always rooted in His good will toward His children. Before talking about discipline, Pastor Eric goes back to the foundation: Who are the children of God? From John 3, he walks through Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus and makes it unmistakably clear: you are not born a Christian because you grew up in church, kept the rules, or tried to be good. You must be born again. There has to be a moment where you move from unbelief to belief, from “I've always known about God” to “I have trusted Christ as my Savior.” Once that identity is settled, Hebrews 12 opens up: the Father disciplines His children—not to crush them, but to train them. Pastor Eric contrasts punitive discipline (reaction, rage, embarrassment, control) with biblical discipline (training, formation, character-shaping). He shows how grace itself “teaches” and trains us to deny ungodliness, and how God often uses Scripture, consequences, and even painful seasons to form Christ in us. Along the way he challenges parents not to repeat the mistakes they received—harsh, angry, or absent discipline, or no discipline at all—but to imitate their heavenly Father: correcting from a place of good will, with a clear goal in mind, for the child's growth and long-term good. Practical, honest, and full of both conviction and hope, this message calls believers to receive the Father's discipline—and then reflect it, by disciplining their own children with wisdom, love, and intentionality. Key Scriptures (NKJV): John 3:1–8; John 3:16–18; Ephesians 2:1; Hebrews 12:9–11; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Titus 2:11–12; Proverbs 29:18; Proverbs 4:7; Romans 2:4. Highlights: Why Pastor Eric starts with this question: “Have you been born again, or have you just always been religious?” Not all people are God's children—only those who have been born again by trusting Christ. Nicodemus as a warning: deeply religious, scripturally trained, morally upright—and still “out” without the new birth. What “believe” really means: not just agreeing with facts, but trusting, relying on, and acting on who Jesus is and what He's done. Hebrews 12: the Father disciplines His children “for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.” Discipline defined: not mainly punishment, but training—shaping behavior and character with a clear goal in mind. Grace as a teacher: how God's kindness and favor train us to say no to sin and yes to godly living (Titus 2:11–12; Romans 2:4). The danger of reactionary discipline: punishing kids because they embarrassed you, not because you love them. Why lack of discipline is theft: how refusing to set boundaries and consequences actually robs children of growth, wisdom, and readiness for life. Breaking the cycle: moving beyond harsh, chaotic, or inconsistent discipline you may have received and learning to discipline from goodwill. God's discipline as a gift: not proof that He's against you, but proof that He owns you, loves you, and is committed to your holiness. Next Steps: First, settle the foundational question: Have I been born again? If you can't point to a time when you turned from self-reliance and trusted Christ alone to save you, begin with John 3 and ask God to bring you to that place of real faith. Then, as a child of God, ask Him to show you where He's currently disciplining you—not to punish you, but to train you. Instead of resisting or running, pray, “Father, what are You trying to form in me through this?” If you're a parent or mentor, take one practical step this week to discipline from goodwill: clarify your goal before correcting, choose calm over rage, and make sure your child knows this is about their growth, not your embarrassment. Ask God to help you break unhealthy patterns and become a living picture of His wise, firm, and loving discipline.

The Name, Part 3: Everlasting Father // Jamie Nunnally

How can a baby be an "Everlasting Father?" In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares about this name given to our Savior before His birth. The name Jesus in Hebrew is Yeshua (Joshua). Yeshua in Greek is Iēsoûs. Translated from Greek to English, it becomes Jesus.Joshua, Yeshua, Iēsoûs, and Jesus are the same name in different languages, all meaning "Yahweh is salvation.""Christ" comes from the Greek word Christos, meaning "anointed one." Christ is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew Mashiach or "Messiah." It's not Jesus' last name—it's His title. In the end, it doesn't matter which language you use to call on the Savior; what matters is that you call on Him.Isaiah 9:6 tells us that His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. In Hebrew culture, names don't just identify a person; they declare purpose, describe ability, and reveal character. So why is a baby—who grows into a man with no natural-born children—called Everlasting Father?Everlasting means "from here on out." From this point forward, Jesus is the perfect and final representation of God the Father.Jesus made this clear in John 14: "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father." He wasn't just a prophet bringing God's message—He was bringing God Himself to us.He said, "The Father and I are one" (John 10).Scripture declares that Christ is "the visible image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:15) and "the exact imprint of his nature" (Hebrews 1:3).Five ways Jesus displayed the Father to us:A father protects. When danger came, Jesus stepped forward so His disciples could go free (John 18). Protection is love in action.A father provides. God meets your needs through your relationship with the Son (Philippians 4:19). Jesus didn't just preach to the 5,000—He fed them.A father is approachable. We come boldly to God's throne to receive mercy and grace (Hebrews 4:16). In Christ, the throne room isn't a courtroom—it's a living room.A father disciplines. God's correction is proof that we belong to Him (Hebrews 12). Discipline is formative, not punitive—it's about who you are becoming.A father loves unconditionally. God loved us first and sent His Son because He is love (1 John 4).You may not have had a father in the home, but you have a Father in heaven who wants to be the Father of your heart.Humanity misunderstood God's heart, so God didn't shout louder from heaven—He translated Himself into flesh.Jesus is God, translated into our language. At Christmas, God didn't just send a message—He sent us one of us.Some of us believe in Jesus but still relate to God through fear or distance. Let God translate Himself through the Son. Receive Jesus as your Everlasting Father. Are you letting Jesus be your Everlasting Father?

An Attitude of Gratitude Philippians 4:6-7 In this world of keeping up appearances and keeping up with the Joneses, it can be easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what we don't have. This isn't God's will for us for when we live like that, we're never content, never at peace and never grateful. But God wants something different for His children. He wants us to be a people who are grateful and thankful for all He has provided for us. Paul writes this. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. As Christians, we have a Good Father who loves us and blesses us beyond measure. When we choose to count our many blessings, what we're really choosing is to be grateful, to be thankful and to walk in humility. And this pleases the Lord, in fact, He promises that when we choose gratitude that He will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus and fill us with peace from heaven. Glory Hallelujah! So beloved, this day and every day may you choose to have an attitude of gratitude. I love y'alldoug

In What Does the Lord Require of Us?, Megan J. Conner reminds us that amid the noise of modern life, God’s call to His people has always been simple: love Him and love others. Reflecting on Micah 6:8 and Matthew 22:36–39, this devotional breaks down what it truly means to live justly, practice kindness, and walk humbly with God in a world that often prioritizes self over service. Highlights The Lord’s requirements are clear: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him. Jesus summarized the Ten Commandments into two essentials—love God and love others. True love is more than emotion; it’s a daily practice of justice, compassion, and humility. Kindness requires intentional effort, especially when distractions or pride take center stage. Walking humbly keeps our hearts aligned with God’s grace and reminds us that all are equal before Him. Join the Conversation What does it look like for you to live out Micah 6:8 today? When life feels like it’s falling apart, Megan J. Conner reminds us in Salvation and Strength that true peace isn’t found in control, hustle, or quick fixes—it’s found in surrender. Drawing from Isaiah 30:15, this devotional calls believers to embrace repentance, rest, quietness, and trust as the pathway to strength and salvation. Even when the world shakes, God remains steady, guarding, guiding, and granting peace to those who rest in Him. Highlights Isaiah 30:15 teaches that salvation and strength come through repentance, rest, quietness, and trust—not striving. When everything feels unstable, God remains our unshakable source of peace and protection. Biblical examples like Joseph, Elijah, and Esther reveal that deliverance often comes through stillness and surrender. Our efforts can fuel anxiety, but rest allows God to work on our behalf. Silence is powerful—when we quiet distractions, we can hear God’s gentle whisper and receive renewed strength. Join the Conversation Where do you turn when your world feels unsteady? Today's reading brings us messages of hope, restoration, and the unyielding pursuit of God's love. We hear of God's promise to cleanse and restore His people in Zechariah, the healing power and compassion of the Lord in Psalm 147, and, in Luke 15, the unforgettable parable of the prodigal son—a moving reminder that God is a Good Father and Shepherd who finds and welcomes the lost, whether they are far away or standing just outside the door. Through prayer, reflection, and devotion, this episode centers on the theme that no matter where we find ourselves—lost in weakness, pride, or longing—God's heart is always for us, inviting us to come home and join the celebration of redemption. So settle in as we open the Scriptures, discover fresh encouragement, and remember above all: you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Boys coming home. Both lost. Both slaves. One to his lusts and appetites, one to his pride. But God has a way of finding lost things. Just before this story, Jesus tells a parable of a lost sheep. He says God is like a good shepherd who finds lost sheep, brings them home on his shoulders, calls his friends together, throws a party because what was lost has now been found. And that's what we see with the younger brother. We're told he came to his senses—he saw something in his father, even from a long distance away, and so he comes home. But the good father, the good shepherd, still has some work to do. There's one lost sheep still to go. The older brother. He's lost too—not in his lusts and appetites, but in pride. Pride has drawn him to a distant land, far from his father's heart. And unlike his younger brother, he hasn't come to his senses yet. He's still lost. Of all the ways to be lost, this is perhaps the most tragic. And in the Father's words, we hear his broken and pleading heart: My dear son, all I have is yours. Come to your senses. My heart overflows for you. Don't let pride stand in the way, blinding you from your home and my heart. I'm standing right in front of you. God is a good father and a good shepherd, and he's always pursuing our hearts. You might come to your senses and see him from far off, or you might find him standing outside your own home. Either way, he's a good father, a good shepherd. He won't stop until he's found what he's looking for—until we are fully alive and come to join him in the party. So see your good father today. See the good shepherd today. See how he's always pursuing your heart—even today. He always has these words for you: My dear son, my dear daughter, all I have is yours. So come, let's join the party. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL
