Last week the party selected a home base, choosing Arabelle's magic shop The Wand's Want over whatever the local tavern, The Pink Dragon, had to offer. After settling in and doing a little shopping the party stepped out to retrieve some potion ingredients for their new landlord. After successfully making their way through the woods and retrieving all ingredients on their list, the party set out for town when... what's that?? Did the well from episode one move to the side of the road? Wells aren't supposed to move...right? Thanks to all our Patreon members for supporting this show and others like it on my channel. Rowena discusses the film and the themes before taking us on a trip around some of the Isle of Wight's most haunted locations as well as diving into our mutual love of Bigfoot. There is no shortage of tales of haunted waters, of small patches, where the waters seem to be in a constant state of unrest, waters which seem eager to swallow up any vessel which crosses over. Its appetite unsated. Waters so tumultuous where even their sunken collections seem to be at unrest, where spirits haunt and ghostly ships set sail. Waters which many swear to be cursed.

Julee Fuller is an Athens-based freelance illustrator and concept artist. Originally from Indiana, she received a BFA in game art from the Art Institute of Atlanta. Since that time she has had a lot of ups and downs, but she's powered through it all. Jeremiah sat down with her to talk about some of her recent struggles and how she's gone about rebooting her creative career. The audio quality is not the best (sorry about that, I'm, still learning! -JC), but the conversation is chock full of honest talk about the trials and tribulations of what it means to pursue your passion despite setbacks (while still taking care of yourself). In this episode of the Strange Horizons podcast, editor Anaea Lay presents Samantha Mills's “Strange Waters.” You can read the full text of the story here.
Mike chats with The Wooden Sky's Gavin Gardiner about the recording of their latest album, Swimming in Strange Waters, which sees the band exploring new, more psychedelic sounds. They also talk about beating a case of "demoitis" and whether he feels there is really a "Toronto scene" anymore. We also check in with Alejandra Ribera, who's currently overseas supporting her latest, This Island. She tells us about how moving to new cities - notably Montreal and Paris - and getting lost (literally) inspired her songwriting for this collection. She also talks about being too busy in her professional and person life to feel any pressure after winning the 2014 SOCAN Songwriting Prize. And finally, Marina Adam, the manager of the Ontario Music Office, fills us in on the Ontario Music Fund, whether it's having its desired effect, and why such government and industry financial support in the arts makes sense as an economic driver.
This week Allison and guest host Sabrina Nanji talk to Buzzfeed Canada’s Ishmael Doro about how the media is covering Kevin O’Leary. The Ottawa Citizen’s Brian Platt tells us why Ontario’s high hydro rates have become fodder for rap lyrics. Metro News reporter May Warren debriefs her experience at the Washington Women’s March. Sabrina is reading The Blondes by Emily Schultz. Allison is reading the Modern Lovers by Emma Straub. TUNES: Moth to a Flame by Chairlift Swimming in Strange Waters by The Wooden Sky Kill V.
