The brainwashed version of Cap enlists Iceman to help him, and Iceman doesn't need any brainwashing in order to do whatever Steve Rogers tells him to do, including treason and murder. Spider-Man and Firestar have to help their gay BFF out of trouble, as usual. Today's Headlines: Everything JD Vance touched this weekend turned to dust. Viktor Orban — MAGA's model autocrat and Putin's most reliable EU ally — was swept out of power in Hungary's election, with opposition leader Peter Magyar's Tisza party winning 135 of 199 parliamentary seats. Vance had flown to Budapest days earlier to campaign for Orban. Then Vance's Iran peace talks in Pakistan collapsed without a deal, and he left. Within hours Trump was threatening to blockade the Strait of Hormuz and bomb Iran's water treatment facilities, while Marco Rubio watched UFC with Trump and Joe Rogan in Miami. Iran said "if you fight, we fight." Meanwhile, the economy is quietly getting ugly. GDP growth in Q4 2025 came in at a 0.5% annualized rate. Inflation jumped to 3.3% in March — the highest in two years, up from 2.4% in February — driven largely by gas prices. Pawn shops across the country are reporting a surge in loan demand and customers selling valuables outright, with both major publicly traded pawn operators trading at five-year highs. The White House ballroom, meanwhile, will be built with $37 million in foreign steel donated by a Luxembourg company — right as Trump cuts their tariff rates in half. Trump has allegedly promised mass pardons to anyone who came "within 200 feet of the Oval." The White House called it a joke. In other news, A former Army employee was arrested and indicted for leaking accounts of sexual harassment and gender discrimination at Fort Bragg to a journalist — Kash Patel celebrated her arrest on Twitter as a warning to "would-be leakers." Anthropic is releasing its powerful new Mythos model — which can find security vulnerabilities human developers can't — to a coalition of 40 companies anyway. The FTC is suing three states for trying to regulate prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket using anti-gambling laws. And finally, Eric Swalwell dropped out of California's governor's race after CNN and the SF Chronicle reported misconduct allegations from four women, including two incidents of sexual assault. His staff quit, 45 former staffers signed a letter calling for his resignation, and the Manhattan DA opened an investigation. Remember the Black Knight from the movie Eternals (2021)? The Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends episode "Knights and Demons" actually does a better job introducing this character. Prior to the events of this episode, the Black Knight banished Modred (not to be confused with Mordred) to the Land of Shades, so Modred sends an enchanted gargoyle statue to Earth to steal the Black Knight's magic sword from a museum at the Spider-Friends' college. The gargoyle and the Black Knight both show up to fight over the sword in the NYC streets (and skies), so the Spider-Friends get involved, but they sure aren't helpful. The entire rest of the episode plays out like a Dungeons & Dragons game in which the Black Knight has surprisingly few points allocated to dexterity. Although, actually, it's not a Dungeons & Dragons game, because in this show, that game is called Sorcery & Serpents. Also, Peter and Bobby and Angelica are all members of the SCA, and we aren't even kidding about that bit. On this Good Friday 2026, Mary takes a look at the reality of authority in this life, and in the one to come.  Whether we realize it or not, authority is part of every day for every human. Parents, teachers, employers, politicians, authority in the home, and possibly even over how we will die, at least in Peter’s case and the case of the martyrs. We start at the beginning, when the authorities of the day had issues with the authority that Jesus claimed. Nothing gets hard core religious leaders in knots than to be usurping their hard-won, ego-driven authority over people, and Jesus put them in their place. Today, we struggle daily with political authority: who has it, who wants it, and who abuses it and abuses others over it. Why does the left hate Christians so much? It’s really very simple – because we follow after and obey a higher authority and that is what propels them to try and control everyone. Those who said they would not follow the Cov narrative were persecuted in a manner that told the tale though they denied it. And in the home, how does that play out best to show the example of Christ loving the church? It’s really not complicated at all. Communism, Islam, Nazism, climate change, No Kings – you name it – it all comes down to authority. And everyone will choose; every knee shall bow, every tongue confess.
