Titus 2:3-5
Last time in the book of Titus we focused on the idea that sound doctrine should lead to good works. This time we look at the idea of sound doctrine itself being a firm foundation for our life. Join us as we learn from Pastor Dave Stevenson in this week's sermon.
This week we discuss how we have to renew our minds as we keep up with the Holy Spirit. There are three types of people the person who is not born again, the spiritually mature Christian, and the carnal Christian. We have to look at which one we relate to. We tend to celebrate people who are carnal Christians but that was not something to be proud of when we read the Bible. What will help us to go from being a carnal Christian to a spiritually mature Christian is keeping up with the Holy Spirit and renewing our soul.
Maybe you've noticed, some of the hardest people to reach for Christ are those who are religious! Sound Doctrine - Art Wagar
This Reformed Rookie podcast episode delves into the dangers of false teaching, drawing heavily from Paul's letters to Titus and Timothy. Pastor Anthony discusses the characteristics of false teachers—insubordination, deceit, empty talk, and greed—and their destructive impact on families and the church. He explores specific heresies prevalent in the early church, including Gnosticism and Judaizing legalism, contrasting them with the true gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone. The importance of sound doctrine, scriptural authority, and the role of church elders in confronting false teaching are emphasized. The episode also highlights the need for unity in Christ, transcending cultural and racial divisions, using Peter's actions in Galatians 2 as a cautionary tale. The podcast concludes with a call to stand firm on biblical truth and resist the ever-evolving tactics of Satan.00:08:32 - Sound Doctrine & Rebuke03:55 - False Teachers in Crete & Ephesus07:56 - Confronting False Teachers11:28:13 - Characteristics of False Teachers15:08 - Dangers of False Teaching18:06 - True vs. False Christianity21:58 - Early Church Heresies28:03 - Gospel Integrity & Discipline35:05 - Combating False Doctrine38:28 - Silencing False Teachers41:50 - Unity in ChristPodcast: www.ReformedRookie.comPodcast: https://anchor.fm/reformedrookieFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheReformedRookie Twitter: https://twitter.com/NYapologistSemper Reformanda!

Send us a textGUEST: Mike Gendron, founder and director, Proclaiming the GospelPresident Trump is on historic multi-nation visit to the Middle East, where he is attempting to broker financial investments in U.S. companies and generally lower the hostile temperature of Arab nations toward one another and Israel. Geopolitical analyst Soeren Kern will join us next week to interpret all that took place and what it means for the U.S. and Israel. This week, Mike Gendron, founder and director of Proclaiming the Gospel, a ministry devoted to helping Roman Catholics understand and believe the biblical gospel, joins us to discuss the selection of a new pope, Leo XIV. Mike, a Roman Catholic for the first 35 years of his life, will tell us about the new pope, the first American-born leader of the Catholic Church, and explain core Catholic doctrines—like Peter being the first pope—and how these contrast with God's Word. But before we get to the new pope and the Roman Catholic Church, Mike and I will discuss the disheartening news this week that Josh Buice, founder and president of G3 Ministries, a ministry focused on building the church up in sound doctrine, has resigned due to the uncovering of anonymous social media accounts that he was using to slander other Christians and ministries and then lying about it.Paul told Timothy to “Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you” (1 Timothy 4:16). This is a sobering reminder that we must not only examine our teaching but our hearts.

How we love, how we live, how we act, how we worship - is all downstream from what we believe; and if it's not rooted in the sound teachings of Scripture, it's easy to go astray in the practical out workings of living. Send us a textWe, those of us who will inherit salvation, all have ministering angels assigned to us. But again, we must never take this honor and blessing for granted or think for one instant that these angels are there for our own selfish indulgence, entertainment and satisfaction. We cannot buy or pay for an angel of God. Angels are not under our directions to be sent for or sent to the locations that we desire. I promise you, we cannot call angels from Africa or anywhere else. I have often wondered and asked myself if it is a possibility that when Paula White Cain called for angels from Africa that she got a demon instead in the personification of Elon Musk? Never do I see or have I read where an angel asked a human for directions or took orders from them. Pastor Scott Ardavanis preaches a sermon from Titus 2 verse 1 on the importance of sound doctrine in the local church.
Why is doctrine such a big deal to the apostle Paul? Why did he spend so much time talking about it? And what place should it have in our lives? Is it really that big of a deal to God? Or is it more like an optional thing? Jeff explains in this week's episode.
