On today's episode I felt compelled to share the divine wisdom I received when I pulled some cards for myself. Growing up Evangelical and really any type of Christianity, we believed ANYTHING that wasn't In the bible and claimed to be spiritual was evil. As I mentioned before I think it's very telling that in the bible only men - and the holiest of them all, were permitted to talk with God. AND of whole bible only 9 women were considered Prophetesses. The rest were demonic and to this day women that are spiritual and receive divine wisdom but aren't Christians are viewed as evil. As you know I think that's horseshit, not to mention the cards are more like introspective prompts and a tool to strengthen your intuition, similar to a sermon or a BOOK where God imparted wisdom to the menfolk. This episode is for my Queer family, my old church family , and anyone else who is confused with how I reconcile my Bisexuality with my Faith. I received an overwhelming amount of support from friends when I presented my girlfriend on Social Media and very little open opposition. But the post itself inspired two very healing conversations and this very transparent and passionate conversation about the meaning of unconditional love- as was taught by Jesus. This past weekend I sat down with my mother who is a Reverend and we talked about the heavy religious topics that we don't see eye to eye on. She's a reverend and although I too and ordained to perform ministerial duties ( I paid out of STATE tuition for that knowledge BOY!!!) - nonetheless, I do not feel called to "minister" the same way she does. The Online Coaching Space has been.... interesting to say the least. There's no regulating entity. People can run their courses, coaching, and communities anyway they seem fit, and quite frankly, that's what we all want right!? The beauty of capitalism and the American Dream.... And in an industry like personal development , spirituality we would hope that we would all be on the same page- awakening and empowering the collective. However during what I like to call the Covid Coach rush, everyone and their mother became a " coach." Anyone who wanted to make money selling their TEACHINGS or process, or ANYTHING really, threw the name coach in front of their name. The result , the dilution of the title and a stain on the word COACH. Distrust amongst consumers who can't differentiate between soul centered coaches and the opportunists. People see the word coach and don't know if its an MLM coach or one of those people who think it's cute to like 3 pics, engage with your story and cold dm you their offer out the random. And lets say you do take them up on their offer- those who can't coach, CON. Instead of coaching clients, they offer More boundaries, and less face time. More money and less personal guidance. More modules and less community interaction. Coaching isn't a course. Coaching is guiding, asking questions and facilitating a transformation. I don't know about you , but watching a video isn't my idea of transformation and so many "coaches" made a killing by preying on those who were looking for change and instead got left feeling "conned" If any of this is resonating with you , you will absolutely enjoy what will be the first of many... Wheewwww this was a LONGGG episode and for good reason. This is an unfiltered, mildly structured, completely transparent reflection on what I learned after hiring 2-3 coaches a year since 2019 at around $5-7k a pop. I thought something was wrong with my because I wasn't a 6Fig business owner in 90 days like the programs said so I kept shopping... kept outsourcing my wisdom to people who couldn't see my vision nor did they care to . My intention is to provide some mental relief for anyone who fell into the same trap I did and felt like a failure for not getting rich overnight.
