This podcast is about stories from New York City wrestlers and coaches. There are also special guests we bring on that are former NCAA Champions, All-Americans Olympians, and UFC Champions.
Alessandra Elliott started her wrestling journey as a 5th grader with the little pirates. She's a multiple time middle school city champion and state champion. She has accumulated multiple All-American honors and has made a 15U National Team. Most recently, she has won a 16U National Championship in Fargo, North Dakota. Elliott is only the third National Champion from Staten Island, NY.
Jayson Layston was a 2x All-American and is the head coach of Team Dynamic and the founder of WAR Zone.
Chad Williams wrestled for Midwood High School and is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo State College. He is also the founder of Dooprocess. Follow his business instgram page @dooprocess.
Kadejah Gentle wrestled for Edward R. Murrow and was a Bronze Medalist at the Freestyle City Champion in 2018. She later went on to wrestle for Nassau Community College and currently trains Mixed Martial Arts at Warriors Nation.
Michaela Beck started her wrestling journey as an 8th grader in NYC. She wrestled under Jacque Davis and Mike Torriero. Later on, she venture out to Hawkeye Wrestling Club for a number of years. Currently, she wrestles for the Badgers RTC in Wisconsin.
Kingston started wrestling 7th grade, by his 8th grade year - he was a 2019 NYC City Finalist and placed 3rd at the NYS tournament. He just placed 2nd at War of the Shore National Tournament. In the fall he will be wrestling for North-field Mount Herman - a boarding school in Mount Herman, Massachusetts.
Ben Peck wrestled for the rams from 2010-2014. In high school, he was a CHSAA NYS Champion and an NYSPHSAA NYS State Qualifier. Then he went on to wrestle for Muhlenberg College. Currently, he is the assistant coach at Fordham Prep.
Sulayman was a 2x Middle City Champion, State Champion, and All-American in NYC. In middle school, Bah was coached by coach Webb, a highly respected individual in NYC. Bah currently attends Kiski in Pennsylvania where he took fourth at the Pennsylvania state championships. He's a 2x Prep National Qualifier and a National Prep Finalist.
Wurmbrand got introduce to wrestling at Lincoln High School. Later in life, he was an assistant coach in the 1980s at James Madison High School. After some years he took over the Upper Ten Eyck wrestling program in the early 2000s. He has coached several athletes, such as Jayden Cardenas, Demitreus Henry, Isaias Torres, etc. Currently, he is a retired teacher from the NYCDOE and supports GSC at practices, dual meets, and tournaments.

Cancelleri wrestled for Curtis high school where she was a City Champion, New York State Champion, 8x All-American, and a bronze medalist at World Team Trials. She was also a part of Curtis's last Dual Meet City Championship in 2015. She currently wrestles for King University.
Eric Bocanegra Jr. started his wrestling career in NYC and now competes nationally and looks far out west to compete. He's currently an NYC & NYS Champion. He has wins over nationally ranked opponents. He has also placed at some national tournaments - locking up All-American honors more than once.
Sophia Mirabella is currently a 3x All-American for King University. Coach Acham started his coaching career in the early in 1980’s at Far Rockaway High school where his team made the championship finals 4 times. Martin Jacobson wrestled for Long Beach High School, but the game of soccer was his calling. Before he was a soccer coach at Martin Luther King Jr. Education Campus, he was a wrestling coach at Stuyvesant High School. While at Stuyvesant High School his team won two PSAL Dual Meet Championship, one as Co-Champions with Harry S. Truman High School (1990) and his team won it the following year (1991). He then became a wrestling commissioner for the PSAL and then got the coaching position at MLK. Jonathan Jagatnarian wrestled for Truman High School and was the second four-time PSAL City Champion from 1998-2001. He was also part of four PSAL dual meet championships while attending Truman High School (1998-2001).
