Did you get the promotion and immediately start wondering if they made a mistake? Do you feel like a fraud in your own role, waiting for someone to figure out you don't belong? Are you a newly promoted manager who's carrying this quietly, convinced no one else in leadership feels the way you feel right now? The Leader I Needed is the podcast for the promoted professional who has the title but not the tools. Every episode is an honest, people-first conversation about what it actually takes to lead. That includes the private battles no one prepares you for. I'm James Rosseau Sr., and I've spent 20-plus years in corporate leadership at companies like JPMorgan Chase, Allstate, and LegalShield. I've led teams of 40 in New York City. I've been the youngest at the table more times than I can count. And I've dealt with imposter syndrome at every level, including the ones that looked most impressive from the outside. This show is the one I needed back then, built for the leader you're becoming right now. If you're ready to stop carrying this in silence and start leading with the clarity and confidence your team needs, subscribe now and let's do this together. Grab your coffee, close the office door, and let's get to work.

Nate sits down with Morris Central School alumna and Canisius University Soccer player Hannah Wist at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta. A small-school standout, she was pulled up to varsity as a 7th grader and went on to earn multiple All-State selections in both Soccer and Softball. Hannah also helped E/M capture Section IV championships in each sport and shares what it was like when the former rivals (Edmeston and Morris) joined forces. Now competing at the Division-I level, she looks back on the path that took her from MCS to Buffalo and the dedication required to make that dream a reality. Hannah discusses her recruiting process, the challenges of getting noticed while attending a smaller school, and the role club ball played in creating additional opportunities. She also reflects on her freshman year at Canisius, adjusting to the college game, and what she hopes to accomplish as she prepares for her sophomore season. Plus, Hannah's close friend and E/M teammate Brenna Bolton from Edmeston makes a special appearance at the end of the conversation.

Andrew traces his journey from cold-calling commercial auto prospects at a State Farm office to running one of the largest Allstate scratch agencies in the country, and finally to building Next Call Club, an aggregator-plus-consultative-partner model designed to help agents hit real cost-per-acquisition targets. The views, thoughts, and opinions expressed are those of the speaker and do not necessarily represent the views, thoughts, and opinions of ActiveProspect. Portland Mayor Wilson's $1,000 Homeless Home-Sharing Program Flops

Portland's big idea for solving homelessness — pay homeowners $1,000 to house a homeless stranger in their home — has produced exactly five applications in four months. Mayor Wilson called it one of the "fastest and most cost-effective" housing solutions the city had ever deployed. The market responded accordingly. The program's designers appear to have skipped some obvious questions: who volunteers to absorb the liability, the 12-month availability requirement, and the Allstate call when something goes wrong — for $800 a month? The "removing barriers" rhetoric remains fully intact, the progressive bubble is still pressurized, and the gap between the mayor's "fastest" framing and the program's glacial matching reality is apparently not a contradiction anyone plans to address.Sean breaks down the Willamette Week reporting by Sophie Peel, dismantles the "down on their luck" myth, and explains why Portland's political class keeps pulling the same failed lever when the actual solution — law enforcement and political will — is sitting right there. San Francisco figured this out. Portland hasn't. This program will be discontinued. There is someone on your team you need to talk to. They've been showing up late. Dropping the ball. Bringing an attitude everyone can feel. You know the conversation needs to happen. And you've been putting it off for weeks. Here is the truth. Issues don't age well. They rot. And when you finally do have the conversation, if it comes out as "because I'm the boss, that's why," you just made it worse. In this episode, James Rosseau Sr. shares the working relationship that went sideways for over a year before he figured out what he was doing wrong. He walks you through the three-question filter you can use before you open your mouth, the four moves that let you be direct without being destructive, and the short list of do's and don'ts that can keep any hard conversation from going off the rails. James also shares the story of a head of strategy at Allstate who stopped him cold one day. He never once said the words "because I said so." But he was living in "because I said so" mode. And it was costing him exactly the expertise he had hired her for. You'll learn why most workplace blowups have nothing to do with the actual issue, why your office is the worst place to have a hard conversation, and why the sandwich method is quietly making your feedback forgettable. By the end of this episode, you'll have a script you can actually use for the conversation you've been avoiding. Feedback private. Celebration public. Never flip those two.

Fresh off their 11-city Breakaway Tour, Christian Polanco and Alexis Guerreros return to the studio to process the post-World Cup soccer landscape. Christian kicks off the episode with an unbelievable travel horror story about a chaotic flight delay from Miami to Dallas involving an intoxicated passenger, an unruly accusation, and an emergency flight attendant swap. The hosts then dive into a blueprint for the future, detailing radical ways to overhaul US Soccer and turn the USMNT into legitimate contenders for the 2030 World Cup—from ending pay-to-play under Arsène Wenger and merging CONCACAF with CONMEBOL to creating a 50-state "States Cup" tournament. Next, the guys welcome USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams for an exclusive, wide-ranging interview. Tyler breaks his silence on the team's World Cup exit against Belgium, setting the record straight on what really went down in camp when Folarin Balogun's red card suspension was rescinded 20 hours before kickoff. He reflects on Mauricio Pochettino's front-foot tactical philosophy, reveals why Pochettino declaring he "wished he was American" after singing Country Roads was his favorite team memory, and details his ongoing community mini-pitch initiative with Allstate. Finally, the hosts analyze the summer transfer window frenzy and critique the latest kit drops across world football. They break down major moves including Morgan Rogers' £117M transfer to Chelsea, Anthony Gordon joining Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski signing with the Chicago Fire, and Casemiro's move to Inter Miami amid LA Galaxy discovery-rights drama. If a brand is no longer what a company says it is, but the sum of every experience a customer has, what does that mean for the marketing department's role in the organization?Agility requires more than just adapting to market changes; it demands a fundamental shift from broadcasting a message to engineering an experience. California homeowners are about to absorb the steepest home insurance rate increase of any state in the country — a 16% spike that isn't a rounding error but the compounding result of years of regulatory failure. Gavin Newsom's California Department of Insurance kept a stranglehold on rate approvals for so long that major carriers like State Farm and Allstate simply walked away. Residents were left relying on an underfunded state plan nobody wanted, and when the Palisades fire hit and billions in claims came due, the math finally caught up.Now the bill is landing inside escrow accounts and monthly mortgage payments that millions of California families cannot absorb. Overregulation didn't protect consumers — it guaranteed this crisis. The reinsurance market priced the risk that Sacramento refused to acknowledge, and every homeowner in the state is now paying for that bet. This is just one more notch on California's affordability belt. Insurance isn't optional when you carry a mortgage, and when the unavoidable cost of staying becomes unsustainable, people leave. They already are — and this 16% shock is going to accelerate it. The state is not getting cheaper. It is getting more expensive on every axis simultaneously, and the exits are wide open.Subscribe to @reasonablenews for daily news from a perspective the mainstream skips — no spin, no nonsense.#California #InsuranceCrisis #CostOfLivingGO PREMIUM WITH REASONABLE+ FOR UNCENSORED ACCESS

Many people at work just go through the motions because they have never been permitted to contribute in a meaningful way. But if they are given a chance to build an entrepreneurial movement, they can unlock so much more in their career journey. Gary Schoeniger is joined by Maria Racho, an intrapreneur, angel investor, and former organizational effectiveness leader at Allstate, who explores what happens when an entrepreneurial spirit enters a compliance-driven organization. They discuss why the managerial culture built for reliability tends to suppress the very creativity they need, as well as the right way to make the most of our innate nature to contribute.

Your projects keep stalling and you've been blaming the wrong thing. It's not your team. It's not that they lack ownership. It's not that they don't care. The real reason is something most new managers don't see coming, and once you see it, you can fix it this week. Are you leaving meetings feeling aligned, only to come back a week later and realize nothing moved? Are you constantly refereeing decisions nobody seems willing to make? Are you carrying the anxiety of entire projects because no one knows what they actually own? In this episode, you'll learn why productive meetings don't create ownership, why decisions freeze when no one knows who has the authority to call it, and how to bring clarity to one stuck project before this week is out using a simple framework. Two sentences. That's all it takes to save yourself two weeks of spinning. I'm James Rosseau Sr. I've spent 20-plus years in corporate leadership leading large teams at JPMorgan Chase, Allstate, LegalShield, and beyond, and I've watched this one thing drain projects over and over. If you're tired of meetings that lead nowhere, frozen decisions, and carrying the weight of every project on your back, this episode is for you. Grab your coffee, close your office door, and let's get to work.

If you've ever wondered what your insurance agency is really worth in today's market, and whether now is the right time to sell, this episode cuts straight to the chase. Brandon Schuh and Nick Hartmann sit down with two sharp industry voices: Varada Bhat, Senior Correspondent at the Financial Times' P&C Specialist, and James Graham, Managing Director at MarshBerry, the nation's leading M&A advisory firm for insurance brokerages. Together, they untangle the intersection of AI disruption, carrier strategy, and brokerage valuations in what is shaping up to be one of the most pivotal moments in the history of independent insurance distribution.Varada Bhat opens the conversation with a ground-level view of where the personal lines market stands today, transitioning out of a hard market cycle, into a softer, more competitive landscape where carrier retention has become the new growth strategy. She digs into State Farm's sweeping workforce realignment, the broader shift away from the captive agent model across carriers like Allstate and Nationwide, and how AI is splitting the industry into two camps: those stuck in pilot mode and those already deploying agentic AI across claims and operations. The critical takeaway? Underwriting discipline and customer service still matter more than any algorithm.James Graham follows with the kind of inside-baseball analysis you can only get from someone doing valuation work every single day. He breaks down why private brokerage multiples have held steady even as public broker valuations dropped more than 20% from their March 2025 peak, and why that divergence makes sense. He lays out what buyers are really paying for right now (organic growth, scale, and retention), why the softening market is the real driver of multiple compression, not AI, and why the fundamentals of the insurance brokerage business remain among the strongest of any industry. For agency owners wondering whether to sell now or wait, his perspective is a must-hear.Chapters00:00 Introduction 04:47 Varada Bhat Interview Begins: P&C Market Overview06:28 Carrier Retention as the New Growth Strategy07:24 AI in Insurance: Pilot Phase vs. Deployed Reality09:48 State Farm, Allstate & the Decline of Captive Agents11:55 AI Automation: Simple vs. Complex Insurance Products14:22 Lemonade, Root & the Insuretech Valuation Reality Check16:55 Geico Hires Goldman Sachs CMO: UX and Millennial Strategy19:47 AI Regulation in Insurance: NAIC Guidelines & State Laws21:33 Who's Best Positioned to Win the AI Era?24:40 Personal Cyber Policies & Consumer Data Privacy26:23 Insurance Affordability as a Political Issue32:29 James Graham Interview Begins: MarshBerry Origin Story34:35 Public vs. Private Broker Valuation Divergence39:16 What Buyers Are Really Looking For Today: Organic Growth41:55 Private Equity Activity: Strategic vs. Dry Powder Deals43:58 EBITDA Multiples: Are 11-12x the New Normal?46:06 Debt Leverage, Hold Times & PE Exit Bottlenecks48:02 AI's Role in Brokerage Multiple Compression50:10 Revenue Per Employee & the AI Productivity Argument52:58 Regulation as Insurance's AI Moat55:26 Client Retention Post-Acquisition: What Really Drives It57:48 2026–2027 Outlook: Will Big Blockbuster Deals Continue?Connect with RiskCellar:Website: https://www.riskcellar.com/James GrahamWebsite: https://www.marshberry.com/about/our-team/james-graham/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/james-graham-b91a5214Varada BhatLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/varada-bhatBrandon Schuh:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61552710523314LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brandon-stephen-schuh/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/schuhpapa/Nick Hartmann:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nickjhartmann/

In today's episode of the Tactical Dent Tech Podcast, I'm unpacking one of the biggest realizations I've had after this recent hail season: Is high volume really the best business model anymore? After running full throttle for the last month and a half, dealing with packed shops, overwhelmed logistics, insurance bottlenecks, storage issues, delayed approvals, supplements, and technician management — I'm stepping back and evaluating what actually makes sense moving forward. In this episode, I break down: The reality of running a hail shop during a major storm Why State Farm, USAA, and Allstate are disrupting the process Long approval times and supplement delays The hidden cost of storage and tied-up shop space Why body shops become bottlenecks during hail season High volume vs high profit shop models Whether it makes more sense to chase every car… or maximize every claim Why technician pay and retention matter more than ever How insurance company relationships are changing the game Thinking long-term: shop growth, acquisitions, and retirement strategy The truth is, hail repair logistics are changing fast. Insurance companies are tightening the process, approvals are slower, and independent shops are being forced to rethink how they operate. At some point, every shop owner has to ask themselves: Do I want to do more cars… or make more money per car? This episode is an honest look at what happens after the storm settles down and you finally have enough breathing room to evaluate what worked, what didn't, and where the future of your business is headed. Topics Discussed: Paintless Dent Repair (PDR), hail repair business, hail shop logistics, State Farm claims, USAA hail claims, Allstate hail claims, insurance supplements, PDR shop growth, technician retention, hail estimating, CCC1, storage fees, hail damage operations, PDR business strategy, high volume vs high profit, EOS meetings, scaling a dent business, technician pay, shop systems.

When people think of sports, they almost always think of playing as the only way to do it. But it's not. I dated a girl once whose career dream was being an accountant for her favorite NFL team. My 9yo son's flag football coaches are high school varsity football players who dream of coaching as a career. And my 15yo son, who also coaches a youth flag football team, is currently playing football for my guest Bobby Ruff, the head football coach at Liberty High School in SC. If you've ever thought about coaching as a career or are just interested in the inside scoop on high school football, you gotta check this one out.   Bobby Ruff is a young man who's already hit the pinnacle of his profession and found out exactly where he wants to be, and it wasn't at that pinnacle. A little background on Coach Ruff- Coach Ruff brings a strong background in defensive leadership, player development, and program-building, with experience spanning high school and collegiate football. Most recently, he has served as Assistant Inside Linebackers Coach at Liberty University, including as part of the Flames' coaching staff during the 2023 Fiesta Bowl against Oregon, where he has worked closely with defensive personnel, game planning, film breakdown, and recruiting at the Division I level. Prior to his time at Liberty University, Coach Ruff served as Defensive Coordinator at Easley High School, where the program developed one of the most statistically successful defenses in the state, recorded its first playoff appearance and first winning season in 15 years, and developed multiple All-State players. His coaching experience also includes several roles at The Citadel, where he worked with linebackers, safeties, defensive line, and tight ends, contributing to nationally ranked rushing and defensive units. “Coach Ruff is exactly the type of leader we were searching for,” said Johnny Garrett, principal of Liberty High School. “His experience, energy, and commitment to developing young men both on and off the field make him an excellent fit for Liberty High School and our community.” Coach Ruff is a native of Charleston, South Carolina, and a graduate of Charleston Southern University, where he earned a degree in Public Relations and was a three-year starting linebacker, team captain, and All-Big South selection. His coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, relationships, and creating a positive culture that supports academic success, character development, and competitive excellence. Liberty High School Athletic Director Jonathan Dilworth added, “Coach Ruff's enthusiasm for the game is evident the moment you meet him. He brings a high-level knowledge of football and a clear commitment to leading student-athletes both on and off the field, and we are excited to begin a new era of Red Devil football under his leadership.” Coach Ruff shared the following about joining Liberty High School: “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Head Football Coach at Liberty High School. This is a community that cares deeply about its students and its traditions. My goal is to build a program rooted in competition, discipline, accountability, and purpose - one that develops young men who represent their school and community the right way.”   Come see him in action under the Friday Night Lights in Liberty SC.   Things mentioned in the show: Jocko Willink https://amzn.to/3Qz9J3e   Atomic Habits by James Clear https://amzn.to/41QFGGK    --- Click here to change your life- http://eepurl.com/gy5T3T   Hit me up for a one-on-one brainstorming session- https://militaryimagesproject.com/products/brainstorming-session-1-hour    Check out my Linktree for different ways to rock your world! https://linktr.ee/ruggeddad    Check out the sweet Hyper X mic I'm using. https://amzn.to/41AF4px    Check out my best-selling books: Rapid Skill Development 101- https://amzn.to/3J0oDJ0 Streams of Income with Ryan Reger- https://amzn.to/3SDhDHg Strangest Secret Challenge- https://amzn.to/3xiJmVO This page contains affiliate links.
