Katie Nunez grew up in Iberville Parish as part of a fourth-generation sugarcane farming family, with Farm Bureau woven into nearly every part of her life. Today, she serves in several leadership roles with Louisiana Farm Bureau and American Farm Bureau, while also helping farmers navigate H-2A labor paperwork and supporting workers who are often facing their own stress far from home.In this episode of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Podcast, Allie Shipley sits down with Katie as part of our Mental Health Month series and the Cultivating Connection initiative. Katie opens up about the pressure farming families carry, the pain of her family's farm changing, the stress of business ownership, motherhood, adoption and raising a child with special needs. She also shares how therapy, medication and honest conversations have helped her better understand her own mental health.Katie's message is simple but powerful: farmers are used to calling someone when a truck breaks down, and that same Farm Bureau family is there when a person is breaking down, too. Everyone's story is different, and everyone's solution may look different, but nobody has to carry the weight alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.Show Notes:Louisiana Farm Bureau's Cultivating Connection website with mental health resources.American Farm Bureau's Farm State of Mind websiteFind a Louisiana Farm Bureau office in your parish here.Become a member of Louisiana Farm Bureau today.

Studs on the day include Ryan Weathers going 6.1 innings with nine strikeouts, Mike Soroka dealing for 6.1 innings, and Ben Rice going 2-for-4 with a homer. On the injury and news front, Nathan Eovaldi was scratched Monday with a tight side, Ryan Helsley is still not cleared to throw with a hoped return by end of May, Addison Barger is back on the IL, and Henry Bolte and AJ Ewing are being called up. Why does bipolar disorder take years - sometimes decades - to diagnose accurately? And what if artificial intelligence could change that?AI researcher and mood disorder psychiatrist Dr. John-Jose Nunez breaks down the hidden challenges behind bipolar diagnosis and explains how AI could reshape the way we diagnose bipolar disorder. By uncovering new patterns, AI may help doctors see what's been overlooked - earlier and more accurately than ever before. But how close are we to that reality, and what are the limits?(00:00) AI Is Changing How Doctors Diagnose Bipolar (03:16) How Accurate Is AI? Doctors vs AI(06:50) Human-in-the-loop(09:15) Will AI Replace Psychiatrists?Bipolar Explained is a new #talkBD series spotlighting expert perspectives on the history, biology, and management of bipolar disorder.---Dr. John-Jose Nunez is a psychiatrist and clinical researcher whose work bridges psychiatry and computer science, with a focus on using computational approaches including artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing to improve mental health outcomes. In this episode, host Dr. Yishan welcomes Dr. Nunez, a leading sleep health expert whose team has conducted one of the largest global sleep surveys — spanning 30,000+ participants across 13 countries over six consecutive years. Together, they unpack a paradox at the heart of modern sleep health: why is it that even as sleep awareness grows, most people still aren't taking action to improve their sleep?Dr. Nunez shares eye-opening findings from the survey, revealing that while the majority of respondents recognize sleep's importance to long-term health, only about 26% have actually sought professional help for persistent sleep problems. The conversation dives into the real-world consequences of this awareness-action gap — from the rise of orthosomnia (an unhealthy obsession with sleep tracking data) to the dangers of relying on social media influencers for medical advice.Together, Dr. Yishan and Dr. Nunez explore what healthy sleep actually looks like beyond the numbers, why sleep apnea remains a massively underdiagnosed condition affecting roughly one billion people worldwide, and why women's sleep health — particularly during pregnancy and menopause — deserves far more attention than it currently receives. They also discuss why cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) remains underused despite being a frontline treatment, and how simple sleep hygiene fundamentals — consistent timing, a cool and dark environment, and morning sunlight — can make a bigger difference than any trending "sleep hack."If you've ever felt overwhelmed by conflicting sleep advice online, or wondered why knowing sleep matters hasn't actually helped you sleep better, this episode offers clarity, practical guidance, and the encouragement to take that next step.RESOURCESAre you so sleepy that you cannot focus? This week I am joined by Simon as we focus almost entirely on the transfer market, that perennial theatre of optimism where intent is often mistaken for strategy. Chelsea, we are told, are now prioritising the acquisition of so called Premier League proven players, a phrase that carries with it both reassurance and a faint sense of retreat. We examined a number of names currently circulating with varying degrees of credibility. Murillo of Nottingham Forest offers physical presence and composure, Van Hecke of Brighton a more measured and technical profile, while Aston Villa's Onana represents a different kind of midfield authority altogether. Newcastle's Woltemade adds further intrigue, and Darwin Núñez, formerly of Liverpool, remains a figure of fascination, equal parts chaos and potential. Whether this collection of targets reflects a coherent plan or simply a change in tone is open to debate.Attention then shifted to the less glamorous but arguably more important matter of outgoings. Selling well has long been an afterthought at Chelsea and yet this summer it may prove decisive. The development pathway for players such as Josh Acheampong also demands careful handling, with the right loan move potentially shaping not just his future, but the credibility of the club's wider approach to youth. We closed, somewhat cautiously, by looking ahead to the visit of Manchester City. Confidence is in short supply and not without reason. Chelsea may compete, they may even resist, but certainty remains elusive against a side so accustomed to imposing its will.Jai&Si This is a public episode. I know this is only the first week of the season, but I need to catch my breath. MLB teams are giving out walk-offs, like old school Oprah: You get a walk-off, you get a walk-off, and you get a walk-off too.The most emotional walk-off victory belonged to the Braves and Dominic Smith. Smith is the first player in MLB history to hit a grand slam walk-off homer in his team debut. Smith, 31, lost his mother to cancer less than two weeks ago. He did not take time away from camp because he was battling for a roster spot. Smith said after the game that he felt his mother's presence with him last night. It was a beautiful moment for Smith, who is in the midst of a very difficult time. The Reds' Dane Myers got his first hit with his new club on Saturday, and, yes, it was a walk-off. The story of the Reds-Red Sox game will not be Myers; it will be umpire CB Bucknor. The veteran umpire (Bucknor, 63) was overruled by the ABS challenge system six times. I don't know what the consequences will be for Bucknor, but this is not good.In Chicago, the Cubs beat the Nats, but James Wood hit his first home run, and Nasim Nunez made one of the best web gems of the season already. Nunez was filling in for CJ Abrams, who has stepped away from the team due to bereavement. It is reported that he has suffered a death in his family.Taj Bradley (Twins) K'd 9 in 4.1 innings pitched. He didn't get a decision, but the Twins beat the O's 4-1.Aaron Judge has hit his second home run in as many days. Captain America is back after his Opening Day 0-5, 4K performance. The Yankees are 3-0, which means the Giants are 0-3. They did score their first run on Saturday, so there is that.In closing, Twins #2 prospect Kaeleen Culpeper and Orioles #9 prospect Enrique Bradfield are in the recap on Substack. Substack will be where you find a wider version of highlights.See you tomorrow. Finish Your Breakfast.

This week on Walk and Roll Live – Disability Stories, Doug Vincent and Addie Rich welcome Jeana Nunez — life and business transformation coach, mom of four, woman of faith, and a warrior living with a rare neuromuscular disease. After years of misdiagnosis, ER visits, and hospital stays, Jeana's strength and mobility can change without warning. This comes days after Hitchins' optional against Oscar Duarte was canceled when Hitchins became ill and was vomiting after breakfast on the morning of the fight. In this episode, the discussion turns to a deceptively simple question that sits at the centre of countless nutrition debates: how much protein do we actually need? On one side, there are confident claims that very high protein intakes are not just beneficial but essential for maximising strength, performance, and muscle mass. On the other, equally strong assertions that the current RDA is entirely sufficient for most people, and that going beyond it is unnecessary or even harmful. Dr. Eric Helms and Dr. Matthew Nagra work through what the evidence actually tells us when we step away from slogans and thresholds. What does 0.8 g/kg represent, and just as importantly, what does it not? At what point do higher intakes stop meaningfully improving muscle-related outcomes? And where do concerns about kidney function, longevity, and chronic disease fit when we look at long-term data rather than isolated mechanisms? Rather than treating protein as a single number to defend or dismiss, this conversation places intake in context: training status, ageing, health outcomes, source and optimising for specific goals. Within minutes of his release from the San Bernardino County Central Detention Center on May 9, 2025, Manuel Nunez-Palomino was quickly re-arrested and taken back into custody. This second arrest was not about an outstanding warrant or a previous charge. Nunez-Palomino, who had been booked the previous day on a misdemeanor traffic warrant, was caught on a surveillance camera committing a new crime right there in the parking lot. --For early, ad free episodes and monthly exclusive bonus content, join our Patreon!
