Sermon Series from Broadway Christian Chapel in Indiana.
Aaron Eaton - Grace Theological Seminary Student
Our God is holy. Do we understand what that means? The natural reaction of man in the presence of the Holy God is to run away! In our sin, apart from atonement and repentance, we cannot live with this holy God! However, WE NEED GOD! How do we approach this Holy God?
Who sits on the throne of your heart? We can often try to use God to accomplish our will rather than surrendering to God and his will. Here, in the story of Israel's defeat before their enemies, we discover that God is the holy King who reigns over all the nations.
Have you ever wanted to hear the voice of God? Today we look at the story of the little boy Samuel, who learned to hear the voice of God. We discover that God is still speaking to his people today, and we can learn how to hear from Him.
Ancient Israel is in need of godly leadership - and the Lord answers that need through the prayers of a barren woman. We discover through Hannah's story that in the midst of our affliction we may seek the Lord. As we seek Him, we find him, and we find reason to leap for joy in Christ!
God does not put his people to shame in evil times. Even though they may have little, their inheritance does not fade away. In famine, they have abundance.
How can we handle our frustrations in the midst of evil times and bad people? How do we maintain stability in unstable times?
Here we look at David's partial lament. Beginning with reflections and praise to God, David prophecies of Christ, and then cries out in his own trials. How can we trust God in our poverty and need?
Hear Jamie share about her experience learning to lament.
On Easter, Resurrection Sunday, we hear our Resurrected Lord tell us to follow Him.
How do we deal with our pain? In a world full of sin, pain and death, we must learn to turn to God with our pain, offer our complaint, ask of him, and trust Him.
Join us in our series on the discovering the spiritual gifts! Have you ever been part of a chaotic worship service? How does God want us to follow the Spirit's leading while maintaining order in our worship? How can we use the gifts to build up the body of Christ?
Join us as we listen to Steve Whitaker teach on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We will be walking through 1 Corinthians 12-14 - we will see a brief overview of the gifts. Next week we will go more in depth into 1 Corinthians 14 with some questions.
Steve Whitaker preaches today on the commissioning of the church, our challenge, and the essential work of the Holy Spirit in the church.
Is Jesus' death and resurrection a fairy tale or actual history? Today, we take a brief look at some of the evidences for Christ's death and resurrection. We will look at some external historical sources, the eyewitness accounts in the New Testament, Old Testament prophecies, and conclude along with some resources.   For future research check out: * The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel * Cold Case Christianity, Warner Wallace * Evidence that Demands a Verdict, Josh McDowell * Bart Ehrman vs. Daniel Wallace Debate - Youtube.  * Bart Ehrman vs. James White Debate - Youtube
God has granted repentance that leads to life to the nations... Our proper response is to rejoice in his grace, holding to Him with steadfast purpose.
We take a break from Acts today to remember that God is our refuge! He is our shelter, our home, our fortress - even if the earth gives way!
Following Saul's conversion, he immediately preaches Christ. We can learn much from his display of bold proclamation and love for Jesus!
We are encouraged through the story of Saul that God is able to use any instrument for his purpose, and can save even those furthest away from Him!
Here we see how God directs us through the Holy Spirit to declare Christ from His Word and to baptize genuine believers.
Who is the Holy Spirit for? Who is the Holy Spirit not given to?
We see how the power of darkness compares to the power of God through Simon the Magician and Philip the Evangelist.
Today we take a look at Stephen's testimony before the Jewish leaders. As we follow his sermon, it starts to sound like the Jewish leaders are on trial instead of Stephen. What does it look like to resist the Holy Spirit?
God has designed the church like the human body - every part has a function and purpose. For those appointed as leaders in the church, they need to have certain qualities.
How do we continue steadfast in the Christian life? What is our race or finish line?
We take one more week to look at Isaiah's prophecies about the coming King. When God cuts Israel down to size, he brings hope that will sprout out of the stump.
Christ is the light that shines in a dark world - we will look at the darkness in the time of an ancient prophecy concerning his birth, and the light that Christ brings to us.
God's work in and through His church is powerful! Yet Satan often seeks to infiltrate and overthrow God's church.
In light of opposition to the gospel, we have but one option: we cannot but speak the name of Jesus. There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we are saved.
