Jerry, Scott, and Zach lead us in the first Sunday school in the book of Jude.
In the message “CONTEND FOR THE FAITH,” Pastor Rich Whitter walks through Jude 1:1–4, urging believers to actively defend and stand firm in the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. Jude writes with urgency, warning the church about subtle distortions of truth and calling God's people to remain grounded in what they have received.Pastor Rich emphasizes that contending for the faith is not about hostility or pride, but about faithfulness—knowing the truth, holding to it, and living it out with conviction and humility. In a culture where compromise is common, this passage reminds us that grace never excuses distortion, and love never abandons truth. We hope this message strengthens your resolve to stay rooted in the gospel, alert in your walk, and confident in the unchanging truth God has entrusted to His people.
Pastor Timothy challenges us to, Contend for the faith tradition, honoring Truth, being tethered to Jesus.
Jude wrote his letter urging Christians to contend for truth of the gospel, because the church is always just one generation from compromise. Contend for the Faith | Jude Series ft. Mike Merriner | 1-4-2025 by Clear Water Church
A — What is this passage about? This passage is a pastoral warning and exhortation. Jude urges believers to remain vigilant, to contend for the true faith, and to guard themselves against false teachers who infiltrate the church, pursue sensual desires, reject authority, and distort God's grace. B — Best verse to summarize the passage "Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." (Jude 1:3, NKJV) C — What are we called to do? We are called to stand firm in the true faith, pursue holiness, pray in the Holy Spirit, remain in God's love, show discernment and compassion toward others, and trust God to preserve us from stumbling.

The chief weapon for the saints of God who contend for the faith is the Word of God. But before we use it to contend, we have to first allow God to apply it to our personal life. Today, pastor Ray Bentley points out, the small book of Jude is big on passion and urgency. Jude is saying agonize. Don't let the basic truth of the gospel be changed. Don't let it be twisted. Don't let it be perverted. Don't let it be lost. The simple message of the gospel. The world needs Christ. They need Jesus Christ. Spreading news.
Pastor Ray Bentley on the message contained in the New Testament book of Jude and why it's so relevant to us today. Why did you write this letter? The purpose of the book is to address the apostasy that was creeping into the early church. And it's also, by the way, one of the great signs of the last days is that there would be much falling away from the faith of the simple gospel of Jesus Christ spread.
Jude opens his letter reminding believers who they are, called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ. We have been bought with a price, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. It does not matter how far you have gone or how much you have messed up. Jesus has called you to Himself. His love is perfect, permanent, and unchanging. Once you are in Him, you are always in Him. Because of that, we are not saved to sit still. Jude urges believers to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. In a world where truth is being twisted and false gospels creep in unnoticed, we must guard what is true, not opinions or preferences, but the gospel itself. Contending begins on our knees. It looks like prayer, surrender, and bold obedience. Jesus has called us, loves us, and keeps us. He does not need wimpy Christians, but bold ones, driven by His love, who stand firm and live out the truth of the gospel. You are called. You are beloved. You are kept. Now get in the game and contend for the faith.Check out our video version of this episode: https://youtu.be/ZuisIyghRHgSubscribe to our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/8wmeCwBf_zkLearn more about us at chestnutmountain.orgFollow us on Facebook & Instagram @chestnutmtn_Don't forget to subscribe to this podcast, leave a review, and let us know what you think.

Monday 18th August 2025 Deeper Life Bible Study By Pastor W.F Kumuyi. Systematic and Expository Bible Study
Jude calls us to “contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints.” In this sermon on Jude 1–16, we consider why the gospel must be guarded, how false teaching creeps in unnoticed, and what it means to pass on the faith as our greatest legacy.
Jude opens with a pastoral warning: though he longed to write about shared salvation, he was compelled to sound the alarm. “Certain individuals have crept in unnoticed": spiritual wolves in sheep’s clothing. These ungodly people distort grace into a license for immorality and deny the lordship of Jesus Christ. Jude urges believers to contend for the faith—not passively, but with conviction and clarity. The gospel isn’t up for revision; it was once for all entrusted to the saints.

On today's episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we're taking a hard look at Taylor Swift's new pornographic-themed album cover, The Life of a Showgirl. From the drinking and partying she parades as normal to her descent into porn culture, Swift has become a dangerous influence on young girls—and really, on everyone. We'll also address the cult-like following surrounding her, and why parents have a biblical responsibility to guard their children from this idolatry and from being exposed to Taylor Swift's sinful pornographic example. Darkness must be exposed, and the Word of God gives us the standard by which to measure it. We will also discuss how disgusting it is to excuse sin by simply labeling it “adult entertainment.” Unfriendly reminder: Civilization is currently collapsing. Let's actually do something about it?--https://www.thebrandsunday.com/
False teachings can mislead Jesus' followers, so it's vital to know God's Word. It should challenge our thinking and transform our lives. Without this, we risk falling into deception and failing to share the Good News of the Gospel. "Truth isn't changing—people are just getting louder about twisting it. Jude reminds us to know who we are (loved, called, and kept by Jesus), recognize false teaching when it creeps in, and stay anchored in the gospel. This 'woke' culture wants grace without surrender, but Jesus calls us to something deeper: truth, holiness, and purpose."Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. 7/20/2025 Rev. Siyoung Jung Jude 1:1-7 1 Jude, a servant[a] of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for[b] Jesus Christ: 2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. 3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. 5 Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved[c] a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day— 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire,[d] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
Time is running out. This is the time to be serious about our walk with Christ. We cannot take it for granted. We must be warriors for the Kingdom of Heaven and contend for the faith—not just for ourselves, but for the sake of those around us.
